When I think of NES beat em' up games the first one I think of is always Double Dragon, the #1 arcade smash itself, but Battletoads comes to mind too. When I first saw this game which combined the two I didn't know what to think. Upon starting the game you are given the choice to play as Rash, Zitz, Pimple, Billy, or Jimmy (They all seem to be equal when it comes to stats). When you begin playing you'll instantly see that the game has more of a Battletoads style gameplay. Some Double Dragon fans may be disappointed to see this but that's no reason to not try this game out. It's still very fun to beat up your favorite Double Dragon enemies inside a giant spaceship. The bottom line is that it's a funny, classic, and genuinely entertaining NES game for Battletoads and Double Dragon fans alike.

Nice review. I personally liked the game, as it was a beat em' up game, my favorite kind for retro systems.

It was also a nice blend between two different games.

The NES version also had some awesome (for the system) 3-D effects in Blag's Alley (the hoverbike section).
My only problem with the game is that it is VERY difficult, but it's a Battletoads game (/Double Dragon) so it's my own fault for not expecting that.

KazilDarkeye : Ya the 3-D effects in the NES mode are just about the coolest that I've seen.

I remember playing this game when I was a kid ALL the time. There was nothing better than getting a friend or relative to grab that 2nd player controller to join in some tornado flying, dumbbell swinging, butt kicking action. What I like about this is when I was a little kid, the NES Battletoads was INSANELY hard. This let me get through a Battletoads style video game with a more kid friendly difficulty.

The original Battletoads game was so difficult I stopped playing it. My mom rented it for me way back in the day. That game resulted in many launched controllers.

Yes it did. I got it when I was in kindergarten, and didn't beat it until I was in 3rd grade. And it took me till the end of the 4th grade to get to the point to where I could beat it about half the time. The times I didn't beat it, the levels that usually did me in was the jet plane level, Rat Race, and the Dark Queen's Tower.

Man, I love playing that game, I enjoyed playing those on the NES. Good review on both games.
