I've been looking in the edit profile page, layout, etc, but I do not see anywhere where you can upload a different profile pic (I would like to "update" mine). Is there a way, or is there not a way to change profile pictures?

Actually you can't, because user pictures have been disabled for Newbies, since yesterday.
But you'll be able to have a user picture, whenever you become normal member (after you've been a member for at least 7 days and have 10 or more posts, you become a Normal member. originally posted at help center.
