This reminds me of that one time when I beat the entire Glitz Pit on Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, at about 1:00 AM, without saving, and I fell asleep. My mom then decides to turn the game off without saying anything to me. I then had to fight my way through 20 more battles. Yay!

Yea it happened to me playing Paper Mario back in the day and i was so stoked playing it so i'd skip a lot of the little save points and the electricity went out on my block and i had been doing real well, leveling up and such. Quite irritaing.
