Not all immigrants are so horrible. I know many people who immigrated here. They're all very decent people. And just keep this in mind, Skyline- your ancestors immigrated here.

How do you know that your ancestors were not illegal immigrants? the only reason you're not is because a person born in the USA is a citizen, whether their parents are illegally or legally in the country. Not saying that I absolutely know that your ancestors were illegally here though, so don't get me wrong.

Well I wouldn't know really either, half my ancestors came over on the viking ships so I dunno if laws or anything were established back then..and the other half I dont know how they got over..

Agreed. Since he was doin a good job they should've just let him be president til he died or quit. If you find a President that the majority of people like, than you should keep him. They should make exceptions for teh 2 term rule sometimes...

ah! Politics. The one thing I hate debating most, but how can I resist stepping in? I find it Ironic that I was reading funny bush quotes for fun and nothing more and then my brother MisterMog got mad at me. We got into a big discussion over why bush is or isn't a good president. My brother had no idea whatsoever what he was talking about, and I don't want people flaming him because of anything I say, he is my brother after all. He didn't have any supports and I read all 5 pages of this thread asking him his thoughts along the way(while he played my new[old] game zelda: link to the past ). He couldn't support things, and sometimes he didn't even know what he was talking about. Anyways, I got to flame my brother but nobody else can. As for John...I already said I read all 5 pages and in those 5 pages I found no evidence of support for John so-called "facts". He hasn't justified any "facts" with anything but his own opinions.

Bush. Our president. Texas' former governor. Everyone know Bush is definately not the smartest person to come into the presidency, even those who support him should. The funny quotes I was referring to earlier were things he actually said and some we're even recorded. My favorite:

Bush can't think on his feet and he's proven it time and time again through his speech. This isn't a good thing in a leader and gives America, our country and the country he represents, a bad reputation. Emergencies such as 9/11, or perhaps something not so severe, need to be handled swiftly and with little hesitation and this isn't a strong quality in Bush.

I read a newspaper article a couple months ago, while delivering my paper route, about the record economic deficit Bush has created over the large projected surplus. What does this mean? It means that he has to pay it off. Things don't look so great for our economy.

On to the war. Let's get some things straight. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 OR Bin Laden. Bin Laden threw a devastating attack at us, an Bush was justified in sending troops to combat terrorism at it's known source. Bush's reasons for attacking Iraq were mixed among personal and false reasons. Bush was upset because his dad didn't acheive what he wanted to do with Saddam. He also tried to use WMD as support for his war when "support" showed otherwise. That's a hefty article but basically it says that the UN went through with "an inspection and monitoring regime, intended to insure that Iraq dismantled its WMD programs and did not take actions to reconstitute them." Afterwards it was determined that more intrusive inspections were needed or there would be "serious consequences". When Bush wanted yet another inspection and didn't get one he started Operation Iraqi Freedom, a pseudo-reason for his war. Here are some quotes explaining what came next:

"As U.S. forces moved through Iraq, there were initial reports that chemical or biological weapons might have been uncovered, but closer examinations produced negative results."

"In addition, members of Congress and Parliament, as well as potential political opponents and outside observers have criticized the use of intelligence by the Bush and Blair administrations. Charges have included outright distortion, selective use of intelligence, and exertion of political pressure to influence the content of intelligence estimates in order to provide support to the decision to go to war with Iraq."

Bush's reasons for this war were not all real and even if they are there is yet anther problem. This war has divided our country. Let's take a look into history and see if this happened once recently. Hmmmm....ah! Vietnam. What happened with Vietnam? I see from my learning in school and books that we had no effect in the outcome of what happened with Vietnam. But Vietnam sure affected us. Our country was practiclly split down the middle and all we got out of the war was a monument with 300,000 thousand names of soldiers who died in the pointless wars. If you ask me, this war is essentially a repeat of that disastor.

That's all I have to say for now.
