I've never tried WinZip but I have tried 7zip & WinRAR.Both are decent but I like WinRAR a bit more. It's definitely easier to use. What exactly were you trying to use it for?

I would say use 7zip http://www.7-zip.org/
It can open everything winrar can but it is 100% free (winrar is trialware) runs a little faster and has all the same features.
It cant make rar files, but winrar cant make 7z files, so it's the same really, except 7z files are a bit smaller on average then rar files.
Which means better file compression.

DarkHyren : In response...

Winrar is supposed to be a trail software yes. However, I believe a bug prevents the evaluation copy from expiring, thus it can be used as long as the user wants. Just wanted to clear that up. Sorry if I'm being a nuisance.

GoogleMe16 : I have never experienced this bug you speak of while using winrar, it has always expired after 40 days use.
It still let me extract files, but apart from that functionality was severly limited.
Mind you I have access to license keys for winrar anyway, but after using 7zip I havnt had any want or need to go back to using winrar.

DarkHyren :

I see, perhaps I was mistaken. No matter, its really personal preference anyway.

Who knows then, though I would say that it is to much of a random element to bet on in regard to using it.
I dont like using buggy programs so that's another thing that would put me off winrar.
But as googleme said, it's personal preference, in the end so long as when you install either of them you install context menus they are both easy to use.
It just seems that 7zip has more/better features, that's all
