I want to play Wild Arms Alter Code F...But I cant find the darn thing...so I downloaded a file on my computer.

This file is called "gen-wacf.ISO"

I know wild arms is in there but how do I get it out?

I can burn and play on my ps2 or play on an emulator but my ps2 doesnt read it and my emulator is asking for an ELF file...

I need help...bad!

I'm pretty sure that there is a way to burn the ISO file onto a disc and then play it on your ps2. You probably have to mod your ps2. No I don't know how to do this you could probably as Dark Hyren about this. In fact I think I'll summon him to this thread (should probably be moved anyway )

What emulator are you using?
I'll just list info, take what info you need and ignore that you dont.

For PS2 games, if you want to play a burnt game on the console you need a PS2 that has been either mod chipped or soft modded.
Then you need to burn the game with specific burn settings.
The program "Alcohol 120%" has a burn setting just for Playstation games, so I would use that if you can.

An ELF file is the executable file on the game disk.
Normally you dont run this directly unless you have a demo disk.
For a PS2 emulator I would probally recomend PCSX2, the setup guide is HERE
To run games with this you would use "File =>Run CD/DVD"
It might help if you have a program like "Daemon tools" to mount the game image file.

I have pcsx2 and that would be better than moding my ps2.
I do have daemon tools lite, but i got it for a certain illegal copy of a random game to work and i got step by step instructions that worked but don't know what i was doing, so i am clueless as to what daemon tools even dose...
I tried doing file =>run CD/DVD in pcsx2 but it automatically assumed it was looking for something in my CD/DVD drive and not an iso...do i have to burn the iso first and put it in my drive? If so would a licensed copy of clone dvd work? (it burned ff vii AC complete in the form of an iso and it works fine...but its a movie...)

No worries. The rom hacking section is more for making games and such (for future info).

I'll explain about Daemon tools. Daemon tools is whats known as a virtual optical drive.
What it does is make your PC think it has an extra DVD drive in it.
You can then use Daemon tools to load an iso image into the virtual DVD drive.
So what this does is it makes the PC think you have put a disk (the iso) into your DVD drive (the virtual one).
Then once that's done you can use the file =>run CD/DVD in PCSX2 and it will believe that the iso image in the Daemon tools drive is a real disk in a real drive.

Or you could burn the iso to a disk, but you will have to burn it "as an image" rather then burning it "as a file" or you'll get errors anyway.

Problem!

Ok so i mounted it to a made up drive G (the real cd/dvd drive is D) using deamon tools then changed the setting on pcsx2 to read from drive G instead of D (normally for the scenario of nothing in the drive when it tries to play is that it plays the ps2 bios and goes to the options page for the ps2 as if there were no disk in it) but when it tried to read the file I had that was mounted it displayed (in the "Game running [CRC=daa49cdc]" window) 17 lines of red text each reading:
CDVD READ ERROR, sector=-196591

Is there a step I'm missing in the mounting proses which is "add file" (chose file and push open) then "mount". then a window pops up displaying windows explorer open to "My Computer" with an extra G drive with a dvd in it.

Hopefully its something simple that I'm just missing

Ok, some things I have checked up on.
What CDVDROM plugin are you using on PSX2, Gigaherz's CDVD Plugin perhaps?
Another thing, I read that errors of this kind could mean it is a misdumped image, which means it was not made correctly.
Obviously you dont have access to the real game to redump it though
I'll look into this a bit more and see what I can see.

I checked and I do have Gigahertz's CDVD Plugin 0.7.0

Yah if I had access to the original to redump then I would just play the darn thing on the system or put it in the drive and have pcsx2 just read it. I got this iso from a torrent and it took like 2 months for it to download so if it's poorly ripped then that would reeeeaaally suck...lol
