You mean in the beginning? the... Lightning Whelk thing if that's what it's called. Well, in the beginning of the battle, Biggs and Wedge talk about how they've heard of the thing, so you should read that carefully. It says that the thing absorbs attacks and releases electricity, so don't attack it when its head's retracted. Just sit and wait for it to return. If you accidently hit it, odds are you won't die the first time, so heal as much as you can. Just continue attacking the head until it dies.
