My brother's autistic, and that really makes me have this respect for people with autism. I always get disgusted when people make fun of my brother or people like him just because of that, like he's not human or something. I find that they're really unique and my brother's actually really smart for his age like most autistic people, though he still can't talk as efficiently as he should be by this age. I was just wondering if anyone else knew anyone autistic and would like to share anything about them. |

I know three people in my school who are students just like me (duh!). They get hyper sometimes. I respect them because they are metally challenged and they are people too, so you need to respect them no matter what. |

My brother is autistic too. Its sometimes very difficult to deal with him but my family and I are kind of used to it, I love him to death though. |

Got a little brother with autism and one of my friends is autistic there are far too many different brands of autism to really be able to put all autistic people under the same hat, with my little bro his autism is shown by being unusually startled when startled, having problems controlling his emotions (he has broken 3 PS2 controllers because if he gets really angry he´d throw them away XD), having a hard time focusing on other things around him if something has caught his interest a lot (like I can speak his name many times before he responds) and also he has a problem with following orders, like if he´s playing a game and I tell him to save and then come eat then he´d perhaps save the game, then go shoot a car in the game, then go walk around a little bit and then come eat (he also has ADHD (a thing in the family kinda, I got ADD) and I can´t be certain if it´s the ADHD or the autism but he can get pretty hyper like hoguan's schoolmates).
And then there is my friend unlike my little brother he is fully grown and I did not know he was autistic until he told me, he has pretty mild autism I think but he used to be hard to deal with when he was a kid showing alike symptoms as my little brother but he has learned to control that as he has grown and he is a really brilliant person who has no problems communicating But as said there are many different types of autism and they can all progress in different ways. Although none of my relatives are autistic, I have lots of respect for those people and I'm getting really angry, every time somebody teases them. I think that people, who act like that, are really cruel and immature... |

95jake1 : Yeah everyone who's autistic needs acceptance
noelia : Mmhmm. Even some of my family members, who I understand, they're too young to know why my brother acts that way, I might get really mad at them for laughing at him. Of course, I wouldn't yell at them but I would just get so mad sometimes lol. noelia : Mmhmm. LordLucario21 : My Asberger's may get me in trouble or make me look like an idiot sometimes, but I love having it. I may not be a positive person, but the world needs people like us. The people with Autism are the ones who could find your liver's problem. Heck, maybe even find help for your drug addicted best friend with their IQ. I may not be good in social things, but I can be helpful in other things like comedy, art, creativity, finding the solution to problems, and even somehow teaching people some stuff. I often go off on a babbling spree due to having a bigger case of Asberger's, but it can have some use if you want to learn music theory or something. *Looney Toons smile*
I don't mind people wanting to help us, but it's sick to call us mentally handicapped and unable to function in the world. I've got OCD, ADHD, depression, and Asberger's, and severe anxiety. I don't want people giving me pity, nor do I want a doctor going, "Awwww. Look at that cute wittle aspie playing with blocks at the age of 15." I like toys, it's not because of my problems! I have toys on display in my room. Why? I like them. I sleep with stuffed animals, and name them. I named my guitar and the amp for it. I give things stories for fun. I have a childlike love for some things, but it's not because I have a form of autism. In fact, I've always been the kind of person who loved to create stories and make adventures with the lead paint weapons known as toys. I even like to play pretend still. I'm gonna be making a Halloween costume that seems weird for just handing out candy, but it's part of the character I'm gonna put off. I'm gonna be creepy, good hearted, Hellish, and simply a cat that wants to have fun while it can for a while. I've gotten medication put on me just for... GUESS WHAT?! Playing with toys in the therapist's office. He put a ball rolling on stuff toy in there. What do you think someone who is constantly trying to put stuff together and create things is gonna do? I hate when people make fun of me for having so many problems that I can't help. I was on a metal forum, and I said I couldn't play my guitar with distortion due to my hypersensitive hearing. Guess what butthole walks in? Some moron replies by saying what I shall paraphrase, "So, like, do you have everything wrong with you?" He decides to use my hearing as a joke. He makes fun of me for being a metalhead with problems. That person is on my idiot list. I'm not "normal" but it doesn't mean I'm incompetent as a musician. Some of the best musicians were not mentally well. Let's see... Dead from Mayhem had possible bipolar depression; Varge of the band Burzum is just insane, and a sociopath; Frost from Emperor had bad depression; Elvis had ADD or ADHD... Must I go on? They praise these guys, but give a 15 year old female metalhead the bad end of the stick just for not liking good death metal until a few months later? Also, I hate when people go and say Asberger's is fake. It's not. They are as stupid as the people who believe ADHD and ADD are fake normally. I have it, I suffer, I get some good stuff out of it, and I can analyze a piece of music and tell you what I heard in detail. Let's do that right now. Turn on a song by the band !T.O.O.H! Hmm... The guitar at the beginning is very melodic. The screaming is filled with pain, and is eccentric. The Czech grunted chanting is nicely placed. The despaired screams are very well done, and the sound of them lets you know a pain is in those vocals. The lyrics are in the band's Native tongue, but you can feel the emotion well. The guitars and drumming are very good at keeping the song's mood, and beat together. I don't know if I can hear the bass, but it must be doing well, as well. The drum beats after the guitar in what appears to be the instrumental chorus just make the guitar sound even better. The sound of the song begins to get a bit of a pick up truck guitar sound with the drums and guitar syncing together. The music is overall, very outlandish death metal from the Czech Republic that is a brilliant composition made by guys who love what they're doing. For those who want to hear the song I'm reviewing, I'll link it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M-vB_r9Z2o Death metal fans, if you love this, pick up anything from this band you can get a hold of. That example aside, which I had a blast with, I can learn things easy if you give me the chance to do it on my own. I picked up math I'd never seen last year, and got a great grade on the test. I have a college or 12th grade reading level, and I am good at writing. It is a stereotype that people with Asberger's have no rhythm, but I do. I can sense the influences of bands in the music, and even pick up a guitar sound with ease. I may be obsessed with just a few things, but I have a wide range of activities I enjoy, as well. The only real exp I've had with this, and I believe most of the kids I worked with were down syndrome not autism but I think the point still stands. It was just some volunteer work in I believe 9th grade me and my friend Eric would (during school hours, and yes we got to miss class) take the class to play kickball, or football, or tag. I enjoyed it as well as their company for the most part (they can get viscious when they wanna be). We always had fun though. |

fightorace : I don't know anyone with Down Syndrome, but yeah. They can be vicious. Haha.
A friend of mine tried playing well... just about every game involving throwing something or putting something in a goal with me on the last day of 7th grade. It went bad because I was utterly hyper, and she kinda was to blame since she gave me most of her cookies, and I was so hyper, I practically was ready to explode. The result of every attempt to play a sport with me failed, and she bluntly said, "Man. You're useless at sports when you're hyper." She was right. One kid thought I'd be amazing in gym class if I was hyper, so he encouraged me to be hyper. Yeah, uh... Kid, I sorta am good as dead if I'm too hyper.
