Heyo people of Vizzed it’s finally time for my 10 year thread so it’s going to be overly long and ramble a lot so I don’t blame you for not reading it. 10 years ago when I was 12 my uncle introduced me to the site as a place to play old games and we started A Link to the Past, which I finally finished within the last 2 years. I never expected back then that this place would be my online home and that I'd still be here 10 years later, and never in my wildest dreams did I expect to at this point be an admin for over 3 years.

Before I considered the site itself my home, I considered the mc server to be my online home and I can’t possibly say in a post how much the server meant to me as I was growing up whether it be the people I met through it, making me more willing to talk to people online, or the countless memories. I consider it to be an honor that I’ve been able to be an mc admin for 5 years now and it will always be my favorite staff role I’ve had.

I’ve managed to accomplish pretty much everything I’ve ever set my mind to on the site as well. I wanted to have the most playtime on the minecraft server… and after 9 years of working at it I finally have more playtime than anyone. I wanted to be a minecraft admin… I’ve been the head mc admin for almost 5 years at this point. I wanted to hit number 1 on the vgm trivia… I made a lot of people rage quit the stream with my ability to guess game music and I hit number 1. I wanted to be a local… I quickly rose to global and then a year later was the sole admin of the mod team. I wanted 1000 posts… Took till I competed with my heart the first tdv I won but I got to 1000 and now am closer to 4000. I wanted to win a tour de vizzed… I’ve won 3, won every jersey, won green 6 times in a row, I’ve had rainbow banner the 2nd most days, have won the 2nd most jerseys, and scored the 3rd most points. I wanted to win Member of the Year… I’ve somehow won it twice. I wanted to hit level 100… I finally did it last year. I wanted to make the top 50 in word count… I’m currently 45th. I point out all these accomplishments not to brag but to say I’ve done everything I’ve ever wanted to on Vizzed and truthfully most of these I never expected to be goals or even come close to hitting.

So with all that said, what's next for me? Well I’ve decided to retire from the mod team as of today. The past few years I’ve questioned when the right time to step down would be for me and I’ve put it off a lot because of reasons in my head like “oh I still have goals to hit” or “Would the site be okay without me?” Cause there was a time I was the only one applying for admin and we had very few locals so I sorta wondered if I decided to retire would there just not be an admin for the mod team then? I truthfully don’t know but I stuck around and I don’t regret that at all I would have missed out on meeting more users and working with some great people on the mod team if I had stepped down when I first considered it. At this point I think I decided to run for admin again for selfish goals I can’t hit anymore and if I stuck around trying to force myself to hit more artificial goals I feel like eventually I’d feel bitter and I don’t wanna reach that point. I sorta realized anytime any staff stuff came up in the past month it just doesn’t feel right to me anymore like I’ve been around too long and my heart’s not in it the way it was before and it’s feels different than when I was burnt out I don’t feel burned out I just think I don’t really belong anymore and it’s time to pass on the torch that Ian once passed on to me. On top of everything I feel the mod team is in a great place at the moment with the locals the new globals and pokemon x as the admin of the team I have complete faith they will all do a great job and that I don’t need to stick around for the site to be okay. If I instantly regret stepping down or something I can always just apply to my own local thread xD wouldn’t that be a sight but I sorta think I might use the site more without the restrictions of an ip lock and the responsibility of being an admin.

Now for some questions people might have that I decided to answer

“Are you stepping down from Mc Admin?” I selfishly refuse to step down until after the 10th anniversary event whatever they may be I wanna still have the power to help out if needed for that event and also as the server isn’t really active right now it’s not a big time investment but I do eventually wanna step down and get Elite the one rank I’ve never had lol.

“Why’d you change your username color?” I decided to go back to the original color I picked when I first became admin for a few reasons one while I love Ohio State and always will I find the red username overall isn’t as unique as the orange I chose and while it doesn’t go with my current userpic I know I plan on changing it again in the future, plus I think the scarlet and gray combo won’t look as good when I only have the gray line beneath in the future when I finally achieve Elite and if I’m wrong gives me another reason to potentially go for admin in the future lol.

Finally I just wanna say thanks to everyone who's been on the mod team since I joined in 2019 you all impacted my time on the site positively!!!

Congrats on 10 years, its crazy how many of us have been reaching 10 years on vizzed just within these 2 years or so, and are still active in some way.

Even though i expected you retire soon its still sad to see it happen. Its been great working with you on the mod team. Honestly i wish i applied sooner but i wanted to prove myself capable for the position which is part of the reason i waited 7 months to apply for mod lol.

Now i wonder who is going to be the new skynet soon? Maybe pokemon x?

claytune : Maybe that is the big difference between you and me. You have set goals you like to do and I am just overly relaxed on stuff. Like TDV I am probably the one that competes the least on it. Like I honestly don't know what goals I should even strive towards on here.

I do feel like the forum side did just took a massive hit. If the the mods all quit besides the RGR this site is practically dead activity wise.

Really though I do wonder how the rest of this year is going to go.
Might even next admin election it might even just be supercool and sonicmcmuffin. In terms of keeping up with the forum you were miles better than me at it and with my lack of posting for the most part it isn't going to help on how the site looks to newer users if they join.

Wow! That is a long time! Not many people who have been on for 10 years that are still active! Your an Admin! Which means you are really active.

Congrats on a decade of activity. It's not easy to stay for such a long time with as much dedication as you did.

It's been incredible working with you at so many levels. Your contributions to the MC server and later the forums and userbase have been awesome, and your absence will be truly felt. But just like you say, there's always a time we have to move on and sometimes we just can't cope with all the things we want to do.

Many elite members have returned to activity in the last years after just letting things flow and slowly regaining their itch to be here and do things. Who knows if that will happen to you, but for now you've earned a good retirement and I hope you can enjoy it fully.

supercool22: Thank you! You definitely proved yourself more than capable for the team I was happy when I saw you finally apply. Skynet is always watching.

pokemon x : Truthfully my goals weren't always super set besides wanting to be an mc admin I never imagined being able to accomplish anything else and more so fell into them and then set my sights higher just to see what I could achieve.

I don't think the forum took a massive hit just by me retiring but I struggle at times knowing how much of an effect I have on things so maybe your right, however I fully believe the team is in good hands you guys got this! I have no idea how the rest of the year will go but that what makes it exciting! While you probably won't post as much as me I think you undervalue everything else you can do on the site that I'm not capable of.

Dauntez : I was an admin but I don't think being an admin means your really active I view it more as dedicating yourself to the site and helping however you can, at least I guess that's how I'd put it.

EX Palen : Thanks Palen! I really appreciate our time working together as well especially my first year as admin where I would msg back and forth and you'd help with your input, otherwise I'm not sure how I woulda done that first year!

I really have no idea if I'll want to return to being super active down the road as I'm currently really enjoying retirement it just feels very rewarding to post again without worry of a quota after so long.

All I can say is this. Retirement isn’t always so bad. Retiring from TdV, retiring from Admin, and so on. It’s part of life, we get it. Any longer you’ll become what you were against and last thing we need is another v(…..)n. It’s such a shame to see you go in this state but surely greener pastures will be for the better to you. “Can it be I stayed away too long? Did I leave your mind when I was gone? It’s not my thing trying to get back. This time let me tell you where I’m at (vizzed).”

For the new admins, I hope they’ll enjoy what I can do to them for the next six months, they’ll whip up an appetite for sure.
