Mega Man X4 introduced us to some new characters in the X series. Slash beast was one of those characters. Like most characters he is a reploid, cyborgs with human traits such as making their own decisions, thinking for themselves and even DNA, that appeared in Mega Man X4. He was labeled a maverick, reploids who pose a danger to the world, in a controversial manner. Anyway, lets learn about Slash Beast.


Not much is known about Slash Beast or who created him. What is known is he has a craving for military action and adventure. He is always looking for battle. Thus, it is likely he was created for military purposes. Due to him craving battle he joins repliforce. Repliforce was a military organization created to help the Maverick Hunters. The two organizations worked well with each other. Both supported each other in going after criminals and suppressing maverick activity. Also, the two organizations would often each other's members to the other organization for training. Slash Beast was impressive on the battle field. The General and the Colonel were so impressed by Slash Beast's effectiveness they made him a high ranking officer. Depending on the version of the game he is either a Captain or a Major. His unit was put in charge of guarding supply routes. Also, his unit was set to deliver supplies to forces. It seemed like Slash Beast had found his nich, oh but how things were about to change.

Sigma had returned and hatched a plan to get the two organizations to destroy each other in a civil war. At first Sigma went to the General to plant a seed that the Maverick Hunters could not be trusted. This angered the General and he ordered Sigma out of his office and told him not to ever contact or see him again. Sigma ordered Magma Dragon and other Mavericks to attack the Sky Lagoon. The mavericks caused the Sky Lagoon to fall to the city it floated over. Repliforce was around the area and came to help. The Maverick Hunters were also around as Maverick activity got their attention. The Maverick Hunters wanted Repliforce to come in for questioning to see who was responsible. Repliforce stated they do not surrender. The Hunters labeled them as Mavericks.

The General decided it would be best if Repliforce developed their own nation. He stated they had been wrongfully judged and wanted their own nation, but it was not a war against humans. Repliforce then started a coupe to achieve their goal. The Civil war between the Hunters and Repliforce was on. The war would see 90% of both armies get destroyed. Slash Beast role was to supply troops and weapons as well as guard the routes. Slash Beast did not know though he was actually supplying Sigma.

X and Zero start attacking the supply routs. Slash Beast engages the two hunters in a fierce battle. Despite putting up a good fight he is destroyed. Beast had always believed he would be killed on the battle field. Dying a military death was his way of dying with honor.

Appearance- Slash Beast has yellow/gold hair as well as a gold yellow mane. He has long claws on his hands and feet t hat can cut through anything. He seems to have mostly brown, yellow/gold and white armor. He is also based off of a Lion. In addition, he is a very tall reploid.

Personality- Slash Beast has a warrior type personality. He has always craved battle. He believes that an officer and solider she die on the battle field in a way of honor. Thus, he has a high sense of honor. He is courageous on the battle field and does not back down even if he thinks he will loose. He also takes his role as an officer very seriously and shows he has good leadership qualities. Moreover, he is very protective over his unit as he cares for his troops. It should also be noted he is loyal. Despite his bravery, warrior spirit, and courageous personality he does have some flaws that prove to be his downfall. He can be loyal to a fault. Even though he probably knew a coupe was wrong he still joined out of loyalty to Repliforce. His biggest flaw is he is stubborn once he is set on a mission he will do anything he can to achieve it. When this occurs he does not listen to reasoning. He would not listen to X or Zero that Repliforce was being manipulated and things were not what they seemed.

Abilities- He is an effective military planner and has great leadership qualities. He can use his claws as powerful weapons. His claws can rip through anything even steel. He can also punch through steel with his fists alone. He is also very powerful and very fast. Furthermore, he can create powerful plasma crescent shape shots with his claws. When he is angry he will fighter tougher and quicker.

Attacks- Slash Beast has several devastating attacks that are powerful and do serious damage. He has his jump and claw or jump and slash attack. Beast will jump on or near his opponent then slaw them with his claws. His main attack is his twin slasher. Beast will fire two plasma shots in the shape of a crescent at his opponents. The plasma shots can cut through anything. He has his charged attack. Beast will charge up and dash at his opponent. If an opponent is on the wall they will be knocked down. He uses this attack to run over his opponent and also cut them as well.

Weakness- He is weak to the ground hunter as this trips him up and can slow him down. He is also weak to electricity as the electric saber technique shocks him due to all the metal he has on his body. Even though these are his weaknesses he can recover quickly.

If the player defeats him they will get his twin slasher weapon. Zero will get his dash and slash ability.

Height- Unknown but it is speculated he could be 8-9 feet tall.

Weight unknown but it is speculated he is 300-400 pounds

Power- Above average Power

Speed- Above average Speed.

In summary, Slash Beast is one of my favorite bosses from Mega Man X4 the others being Storm Owl and Magma Dragon. Slash Beast has a warrior type personality. He considers his pending death to be a military honor. Therefore, he died a military honor death. Like most Repliforce members he is seen as a tragic character. As the civil war was costly for the Repliforce and Maverick Hunters. Slash Beast did not leave to see that it was Sigma behind all of the fighting. In a way he could be considered a tragic character like Storm Eagle, Magnet Centipede, Volt Catfish, Blast Hornet, Blizzard Buffalo, Neon Tiger and the Skyver were. He was wrongfully labeled a Maverick when it wasn't even his fault. On the other hand, he could have stopped the coupe and chose to not fight, but this would have gone against his code of honor. At the end he died an honorable death which is what Slash Beast wanted. This concludes the biography.
