The Mario franchise has gave us a lot of characters. Eldstar was a character that was introduced in Paper Mario. Although it is revealed in that game he has been around for a long time. He is also referenced in other games as well, so lets learn about him.


Eldstar is a star spirit he states he has been around for a very long time. He is one of 7 star spirits that guard the star rod in the Mushroom Kingdom. Him and his other colleagues also grant wishes to people who are worthy or deserving. The person also has to have good character and this wish cannot be anything selfish. He reveals at the start of Paper Mario that the star spirits do not grant wishes such as wanting to be rich, famous, wanting somebody to like them or having power. Given his name he is likely the oldest of the 7 elite star spirits. He is considered the leader of the 7 elite star spirits. It should be noted him and the other stars reside in Star Haven which is in the sky above the Mushroom Kingdom.

Things were peaceful in Star Haven new star kids were being born and leaving for the sky. The 7 elite star spirits were guarding the Star Rod and determining which wishes to grant. Bowser though was tired of the star spirits not granting his wishes. They did not grant them because his wishes were selfish. He and his troops decided to steal the Star Rod so Bowser could have unlimited power. Then he had his troops imprison the 7 star spirits. Eldstar was the first one he captured. Bowser then tries to kidnap Peach. Due to having the Star Rod Mario cannot stop him. In fact, Bowser defeats him sending him flying out the window.

Eldstar appears to Mario who has been injured and knocked out in a dream telling him to go to star haven. After Mario recovers from his injuries he goes to Star Haven. Eld star tells Mario what has happened and they are using the last of their remaining power to give Mario the scooop. Eldstar then tells Mario if he can rescue all 7 star spirits they can help him defeat Bowser.

Eldstar was held at the Koopa Brothers fortress outside of Toad Town near Koopa Village. Therefore, he was the first star spirit to be liberated by Mario. He proves to be a powerful ally. At the end of the game him and his other colleagues are restored with a new star rod in Star Haven.

In future games he is referenced as a star spirit that leaves in Star Haven and who helps those that are worthy. He makes cameo appearances in future games either by dreams or appearing outright.

Appearance- He is a yellow star with a white and silver mustache. He also has silver eye brows. When his power is restored he shines brightly.

Personality- Eldstar has a wise personality. He gives advice to those who deem worthy. He is serious about protecting the star rod. He does everything he can to help those who have good moral character. He is also shown to have a never give up attitude. When some of his colleagues thought the end was near that Bowser could not be stopped. He told the others that they needed to stick together and not loose hope by helping Mario in anyway they could.

Abilities- He has the ability to grant wishes to those who are deemed worthy and good moral character. He also can choose not to grant wishes. He watches over all the stars. He can use his power to appear as a hologram in those he deems worthy dreams.After Mario liberates him he can give Mario his refresh ability. Mario HP will be replenish by 5 points. He can also give Mario the focus ability. Mario's defense and power will be upgraded.

Allies

Mario- He sees Mario as the only hope to defeat Bowser. He guides Mario on his latest quest.

His Colleagues- He is close to the other 6 elite star spirits. He gives advice to them and tells them not to loose hope. Even after he is liberated he tells Mario to save his friends.

Mario Party Members- He gives advice to Mario's helpers as well.

Peach- He considers Peach to be noble, royal, and worthy

Tink- Tink is a young star kid who looks up to Eldstar. Eldstar is happy to see that Tink helped Peach and later helps in the final battle

Enemies

Boweser- He calls Bowser evil for doing something nobody had other done steal the star rod and imprison the star spirits. He even calls Bowser insulting names.

Koopa Brothers- Although they were ordered by Bowser they imprisoned him in their fortress. In some versions of the game he said I'm glad to be out of that dark gloomy fortress with those good for nothing minions of Bowser.

Kammy Koopa- She helped Bowser breach the star rod's defenses with her magic.

Bowsers minions in general- Bowser's minions are also his enemy that is because they invaded his home Star Haven. Bowsers commanders also imprisioned his colleagues.


In conclusion Eldstar is a star elder who tries to look out for the well being of others. He cares for those he gives advice too, and his colleagues. Therefore, he is considered an important character in the Mario franchise even though he only had a main part in one game. As I mentioned earlier he does make cameo appearances in other Mario games.
