Iris, is a reploid, cyborgs with human characteristics, that first appeared in Mega Man Extreme 2. She also later appeared in Mega Man X4. She was caught in the tragic Maverick Hunter and Repliforce war as she was a member of both organizations. Iris is often one of the tragic characters in the X series, so let's learn about her.

It is speculated that Iris along with a lot of Repliforce may have been created by Cain Labs although this has never been confirmed. Iris was created from the same DNA as Repliforce's Colonel. This made her and the Colonel siblings. Being siblings the two were very close and had each other's backs. Colonel was second in command of the Repliforce.

Iris was a member of Repliforce and also a Member of the Maverick Hunters. Even though she could fight she proved to be a great navigator. Repliforce and the Maverick Hunters originally had a great working relationship. Repliforce was created to assist the Maverick Hunters in keep the peace and suppressing maverick, reploids that pose a danger to the world, activity. In fact, both organizations would send their members to work and train with the other. Iris started to develop a romantic interest in Zero which was returned. The two considered themselves girlfriend and boyfriend. The Colonel approved of this relationship and became a close friend to Zero. It seemed like all was going well but things were about to change.

Sigma, who was thought to be dead from X3, also returned. Sigma tried to get the General to rise up against the Maverick Hunters. The General refused and ordered Sigma out of his site. Sigma then ordered Magma Dragon to attack the Sky Lagoon City sending it crashing to the city below it. Iris was also working on Sky Lagoon but survived the crash due to being saved by Zero. Repliforce was also in the area and came to help. The maverick activity also brought the Maverick Hunters. Due to Repliforce being in the area. The Maverick Hunters wanted Repliforce to surrender and come in for questioning. Repliforce refused. Repliforce was unjustly labeled mavericks. This caused the General to want to build a reploid only nation. They started a coupe for independence. Sigma's plan had finally started to work.

Iris was caught in the middle and torn inside. She was a member of both organizations. Her love interests was Zero and he was a Maverick Hunter. ON the other hand her brother was the Colonel and a high ranking member of Repliforce. Still, Iris carried out her duties as a navigator to Zero. Eventually Zero was forced to kill the Colonel. This drove Iris insane that she left the Maverick Hunters.

Iris waited for Zero in a ride armor suit. Iris full of grief challenged Zero. Zero not really wanting to hurt Iris attacked her armor. However, The armor she was in had a fatal defect in it. The armor exploded wounding Iris. Iris told Zero she wanted to be with him and that she loved him. She asked Zero to hold her as she died. Zero then was nearly driven to insanity.

Appearance- Iris has blue and red armor. She wears a red beret and has brownish like hair. She is about average height, but being shorter than X and Zero.

Personality- Iris is a kind reploid and has a strong sense of Justice. She believes in helping others out. She is very protective of her brother as she will have his back no matter what even when he is in the wrong. She is loyal to the Maverick Hunters and Repliforce, which causes her inner turmoil during the civil war. While she prefers to be logical she will fight when pushed. It is shown once she gets an idea she can be stubborn about it.

Abilities- Iris is an expert communicator and navigator. She often can analyze situations and alert the team when danger is near. She also tries to be a negotionator. She is decent at combat as she can be quick outside of her armor. Moreover, she is shown to be an excellent pilot when she is in a ride armor suit.

Attacks- When Iris is in combat she often pilots a ride armor suit. In her ride armor she can throw out or put out mines. Her most powerful attack is her laser attack that she uses while in armor suits.

Weakness- She is weak to fire as it burns her. However, her main flaw was the ride armor that she picked. Unknown to Iris the ride armor she got in had a defect in it. Every time it was struck it exploded inside causing her damage.

Height speculated to be about 5'3 given how she is shorter than X who is 5'6/5'7 and shorter than Zero who is about 5'10.

Weight speculated to be between 150-200 pounds.

Power- Slightly below average power outside of armor suit

Speed- She is very agile and fast.

In conclusion, Iris is one of the more tragic figures in the X series. She was caught in a civil war that should never have happened. She was also in turmoil because she was a member of both armies that were involved in the civil war. She never lived to see that it was Sigma causing the civil war. Moreover, Zero did not mean to kill her and went out of his way not too. But due to a faulty armor suit, when he struck the suit it exploded on Iris. Most armor suits when damaged in the X series just fall apart. She was both loyal to her brother and boyfriend. Therefore, she is considered a tragic victim. She is different from the other victims in the Maverick Wars as she was never infected by the Sigma Virus. Other victims like Storm Eagle, Magnet Centipede, Blast Hornet, Blizzard Buffalo, Volt Catfish, Neon Tiger, The Skyver, and Red were forced to join Sigma or were infected. It should be noted that after the events of Mega Man X4 Zero still dreams about her in his dreams of them being together. In fact, Sigma even torments Zero about it in later games.
