If you have played any Mega Man X games chances are you have encountered the boss Vile. Vile is one of the reoccurring bosses in X games he has appeared in several. He is always an enemy. Who is Vile, well today we are going to learn about him.

Not much is known about who built Vile, but it was not Dr. Cain and his Cain Labs. Given that other organizations developed repolids, robots who share human characteristics such as feelings, DNA samples, and can think for themselves, it is likely another organization built him. Regardless he Joined the Maverick Hunters. He appeared to be that of a bounty hunter/law man. Originally he was part of the elite 17th unit that also included X and Zero as well as General Sigma.

However, Vile had a really serious flaw in his programming. This made him very violent. While he would defeat mavericks, reploids who pose a danger to the world, he would cause casualties to innocent reploids and it is hinted he may have even caused a few human casualties. He started to hunt down reploids who had not been labeled Mavericks. Vile was arrested and labeled a Maverick due to high civilian casualties and his ruthless antics. In fact, he was even on death row due to being a high danger to the world.

When Sigma went Maverick he enlisted Vile to be one of his top officers. Sigma released Vile to cause as much destruction as he could. Vile started to go on violent rampages as he now could with no rules. Sigma, now being a Maverick enjoyed watching Vile cause mass destruction to the world. Vile enjoyed having complete anarchy. The only person he obeyed was Sigma.

In the First game he was attacking a city when confronted by X and Zero. X not reaching full power could not defeat Vile just yet. Zero damaged his ride armor and vile retreated. He is faced again in Sigma's Forces except this time X and Zero destroyed him. As Vile died he said someday he would be back for revenge and he would haunt X and Zero. He was also mad that X and Zero finally defeated him.

After the first game it was assumed he was dead. However he managed to survive the first X game but was found to be in very bad shape and barely alive. Sigma, who had corrupted Dr. Doppler with his Sigma Virus, ordered Doppler to repair Vile. Vile told Doppler that he had an old score to settle with the two hunters and that he would do it his way. Doppler told him fine just go out and do it. Doppler wanted X and Zero brought to him alive if possible and Vile was not going to have that.

Vile tried to create a deadly trap for X and Zero. He took over an empty reploid factory and set it with bobby traps and even a self destruct device. His goal here was to trap the hunters into the factory. In what is considered cannon by Capcom X and Zero destroyed him in the factory. Once again he repeated his hate toward the hunters and that he would someday be back.

He was not heard from again for a very long time. However in Mega Man X8 Sigma rebuilt him and ordered him to take over Jacob's ladder. He taunted X, Zero and now Axle reminding them who he was and how it had been a long time. This time Vile appeared to be more insane suggesting his programming had gotten worse. In his last counter he did a suicide move and failed. This shows how insane he was because he normally flees or vows to comeback. It was also implied he was dead for good as he made no reference to coming back in the future.

Personality- He is very arrogant and a violent individual. He only respects one reploid and that is Sigma. In fact, he will only take orders from Sigma. He likes complete anarchy and has no respect for law. He even states how he loves destruction, and war. He does not care how many people die due to his actions. He also holds grudges as he hates X and Zero because they keep defeating him. Another reason he hates them is because he thought he could not be beaten until they defeated him. His flaw in his programming makes him insane. In battle he talks about how he will be back. But each time it seems like his tactics get more insane. This is evident in his recent appearance when he did a suicide attack that was not effective. Normally he would flee or state how he would return. However, despite his insanity he is shown to be a master strategist. He flees the first encounter with X and Zero and learns more about them, although he underestimated them. He set up a factory with booby traps in hopes to trap the two hunters.

Appearance- Vile looks like Boba Fett from the Star Wars. In fact, some of Capcom members confirmed a few years ago that yes the star wars character was an inspiration. He originally had purple and gold armor. He has a long cannon for a nose and usually has a blaster weapon on his shoulder. After being repaired/rebuilt in Mega Man X3 he has blue armor. Finally in X8 he has green/yellow armor. Most likely it is because he is repaired or rebuilt he gets new armor each time. No matter how many times he is rebuilt and has different color of armor his other features remain unchanged.

Abiltieis- Vile is a dangerous individual and has so many ways to attack, more on that soon. He loves to ride in his favorite machine and that is his armor. His Mecha Armor as it is called allows him to do extram damage to the world. His armor can send opponents flying, destroy buildings, and offers him protection. When he is out of his Armor he is just as dangerous. He can create Fire, use his cannon to fire cannon balls, and his shoulder blasters can send unlimited plasma shots. He is also very quick.

Attack-Vile has lots of attacks. He first attacks while in his Mecha Armor suit. When his armor is destroyed he still has several ways to attack. He uses his nose cannon to fire powerful cannon balls out of it. He also uses this to fire fireballs out of it. His blaster weapons on his shoulders can fire rapid fire plasma shots like a machine gun. In some games he even has a buster on his arm that he can fire rapid shots with. Vile can also use his speed in battle too as he can sometimes be hard to hit. In the first game he even had a stun gun that can temporarily stun opponents so they cannot move.

Weaknesses-Vile tends to overestimate his opponents as he underestimated X and Zero in the first game. He is also consumed with revenge that he will stop at nothing to get even. In the first game he is weak to the homing missile and ice weapon. The missiles disrupt his timing. In X 3 he is weak to Ray Splasher. This pierces his armor and shreds his mecha armor as well. In X8 he is weak to ice. Given how some of his weaknesses are extreme temperatures it could be Vile is weak to extreme cold or extreme heat. Shotgun Ice fully charged does a lot of damage to him as it freezes him inside. In X3 the Ray Splasher is also a heat weapon. In X8 he is once again weak to Ice. Therefore, he probably does not tolerate extreme temperatures that well.


Stats
His Height varies due to getting rebuilt so many times. But given how he is slightly taller than X or Zero when out of his armor he is likely 177 Centimeters or 5'10. X is 170 cm or about 5'6 or 5'7. While Zero is 173-175 cm or about 5'8-5'9.

His weight is unknown given how he has been rebuilt so many times.

Vile has appeared as a boss several times in the X series only Sigma has appeared more. Vile is a ruthless violent, and insane enemy. This concludes the Vile Biography.
