Storm Eagle is a reploid, robots who have a lot of human features such as DNA, feelings, and can make their own decisions, from Mega Man X1. He later went maverick, reploids who pose a danger to the world, due to tragic circumstances. As his name implies he is based off the Eagle especially an American Bald Eagle. Let's learn about this tragic character from the very first X game.

Eagle was built by Cain Labs. He quickly demonstrated great strategy and intelligence. He also seemed to have a strong sense of justice and law. He was skilled in air combat and was considered superior when it came to air battles. General Sigma and Dr. Cain put him in charge of the 7th airborne unit of the Maverick Hunters. He had several responsibilities and he could be trusted to do so. Some of his top responsibilities included sending aircraft out to do air strikes against mavericks. By providing air power he would help the ground forces of the Maverick Hunters. His biggest responsibility was protecting the Missile fields of the Maverick Hunters. These fields contained missiles that were very destructive possibly resembling an atomic weapon or at least a very destructive missile. Very few hunters got to even have access to these fields, due to the potential for mavericks to get a hold of the missiles and launch them at the world's cities. Basically, the missiles were only to be used in a last resort to their payload.

Storm Eagle was also good friends with X and Zero. He saw potential in both hunters as they had not reached their full power. Eagle was very proud of his victories in battle and his huge responsibilities. One day Sigma transferred him away from the missile fields. Eagle had a hunch that something was not right, but due to Sigma being his superior he did not complain. He did tell X and Zero that he had a bad feeling and that Sigma had been acting strange lately. He also asked X and Zero why would Sigma take him away from the Missile Fields knowing how dangerous that would be if the missiles fell into the wrong hands. Shortly after Sigma revealed he was a Maverick and fired the missiles at worldwide cities causing mass destruction.

Storm Eagle saw what had been done and resisted Sigma. He tried to stop Sigma by fighting against him. Despite being powerful he was no match for Sigma. Sigma offered to join his side or be killed by him. Eagle realized that he would die anyway and felt like he had now way out. If he turned Maverick X/Zero would kill him, but if he didn't Sigma would kill him. He was forced to join the mavericks against his will. Sigma let him retain his rank as a member of the mavericks. Also, he was ordered to use his aircraft to protect Sigma's ground forces and spread terror in the skies.

X and Zero now had to fight against their friend. When confronted Eagle told his friends the situation and what happened. The two Maverick Hunters game him a chance to surrender and they would rescue him. However, Eagle had a tiny flaw in his personality that caused his downfall. Eagle was too full of pride to surrender. He felt guilty about not being able to stop Sigma and turn Maverick. He asked X and Zero to kill him in battle. Despite asking to be put out of his misery he gave the two hunters a battle. X, and Zero depending on the game, destroyed their former comrade. Although, the two hunters felt guilty and remorse for killing Eagle. They felt guilty due to Eagle's circumstances, and he was a former comrade as well as friend. Therefore, Eagle is considered a tragic victim in the Maverick wars. Unlike other mavericks that had violent tendencies all along such as Launch Octopus, Armored Armadillo, Sting Chameleon, and Flame Mammoth, Eagle was not like that at all.

Personality Wise-Eagle is a master strategists and planner when it comes to military plans. This is what made him a very effective officer in the Maverick Hunters. He has a strong sense of justice and upholds the law even during combat. Unlike some of his other peers he stuck to the law of enemy engagement. It is shown he had high moral character as he tried to stop Sigma after Sigma went maverick. He can also sense when something is evil or not right as he sensed something bad was about to happen when Sigma removed him from his post. His main flaw was he was too prideful to surrender. Had he not been so proud and prideful and surrendered to X/Zero he most likely would have survived the war.

Appearance- Eagle is mostly portrayed as a multi colored reploid. Most of his body including his wings are blue/purple. His beak and face are yellow. In addition, he also had red/black armor. His talons are portrayed as being gold or black colored. Moreover, Eagle is a tall Reploid with a huge wingspan after all he is an Eagle.

Power/Abilities- Eagle is a powerful fighter who is skilled in air combat. He carefully guards the air force that he overseas as well as the missile fields. He can generate hurricane force winds, create horizontal tornadoes, and firebombs that work like cluster bombs. He can also dive and use his tough armor to collide into enemies usually the collision works in his favor.

Attacks-Eagle has a lot of ways to attack his opponents. His main attack his his storm attack. Eagle will fire a horizontal tornado at his opponent. The energy and wind is so strong it can cut through tough armor. In addition, he can flap his wings and create hurricane force winds. He sometimes uses this to blow opponents away. Moreover, he can shoot out bombs these bombs are in the shape of mini eagles and work like cluster bombs. Another powerful attack is his dive attack. Eagle will dive at his opponent using his thick armor to collide with them. Again, the collision usually works in his favor. He is a powerful fighter and his attacks can do massive damage.

Weaknesses- He is weak to slicer weapons as they can cut through his thick armor. They also can cut his wings down. He is weak to Chameleon sting. When the sting weapon is charged up it will allow his opponent to be difficult to see by Eagle. This messes Eagle up as he does not know were to dive.

If the player defeats him they will earn the Tornado Storm weapon. This is a powerful weapon that shoots a horizontal tornado at enemies. It can take out some of the tougher and heavy armored enemies. When fully charged a hologram of Storm Eagle will dive across the screen taking out more enemies.

In summary, Eagle is a sympathetic character from the X series. He was a good guy that was forced to turn bad. Thus, he is really a victim in the Maverick Wars.

From the original X game he is one of my favorite mavericks. I think it is because his weapons deal with meteorology such as tornadoes and wind.
