Wendy O Koopa is a member of the Koopalings. She is a high ranking member of the Koopa Troop. She is also 1 out of 7 siblings known as the Koopalings. Just who is Wendy O Koopa? Well we are going to learn more about her.


Wendy O Koopa made her debut in Super Mario 3, which came out in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. She was 1 out of 7 siblings known as the Koopalings. In Super Mario 3 the Koopalings took over kingdoms around the Mushroom Kingdom while Bowser kidnapped the Princess. Since then Wendy and her siblings have been a staple in the Mario franchise.

Not much is known about her past. Originally the Koopalings were said to be Bowser's 7 children. However, when Bowser Jr made his debut Nintendo changed things. Currently Bowser Jr is Bowser only son and second in command. Nintendo states that the Koopalings are Bowser's Niece and Nephews. Therefore, she is still related to Bowser and Bowser Jr.

Like her siblings she is a high ranking member of the Koopa Troop. Due to being related to the Bowsers she along with her siblings severe as Generals in the Koopa Army. She has a lot of responsibilities and commands a lot of troops. Even though, Bowser chews her and her siblings out when they fail, Bowser still cares for her and her siblings. In a recent game Bowser said they are family.

Wendy is also known to be a singer. In fact, she was named after two singers. Her name Wendy comes from Wendy O. Williams lead singer of the punk band the Plasmatics. The letter O is also a tribute to Oliva Newton John according to her designers. She loves to sing. After being defeated by Mario, Luigi and Yoshi they tell her the show is other. In other games they say Wendy has sung her last song for a while.

Physical Appearance like most her siblings, Bowser, and Bowser Jr she has yellow and tanned like skin. Her head is also this color as well. She has red claws and her shell is usually red. She wears a pink bow and its implied she has pink or red lipstick on. It is implied that she wears bow because she is bald. Like her other family members she sometimes wears bracelets with spikes on them, other times she has golden bands instead of spikes on. It should be noted that she also has spikes on the back of her shell like her family members do.

Personality Wise Wendy is complex. She is shown to be very greedy as she loves to steal treasure. She can also be strong willed, and stubborn. In other games she is also said to be a spoiled brat as she thinks she is entitled to what she wants. She also believes she should be able to get what she wants and when she wants it. Basically, when she wants something she wants it now. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants and this usually gets her into trouble. Wendy does not usually take no lightly and cannot stand it when her plans fail. She can be a diva at times especially when it comes to her singing. On the other hand, she is not afraid to get dirty and can hang with the rest of the male members of her family.

Wendy is also known to have a very quick temper and can become violent when she is provoked. Her on troops are said to fear her when she gets mad. She is not afraid to punish her troops under her when they mess up her plans . She has shown she will even argue with her uncle Bowser. Bowser only allows this because she is family but he is not afraid to put her in his place. It is also shown that she can hold her on in combat. She even hung with her Brother Roy when Roy stole one of her items.

She does have a soft side to her though she rarely shows it. She really cares for her family such as her siblings, her uncle Bowser and her cousin Bowser Jr. She will do anything she can to help them out. Even though, they are enemies in one instance she helped Mario defeat a bigger foe than Bowser as this enemy was going to destroy Peach. She was eager to help Mario. Now it could be that her uncle told her too, but still she helped. She shows her soft side when she has been rewarded for something as well.

Wendy has several powers and ways of attack. Like most members of her family she can spit or throw fireballs at enemies. She mainly loves to attack with her rings. The rings can trap the opponent allowing her to do what she wants with them. Eventually the rings will release who she has trapped and she will have to throw them again. She can also use her shell as a weapon as the spikes can cause damage. Moreover, she is also skilled with magic and can use her wand to shoot plasma at her opponents. Furthermore, Wendy is skilled at combat and has stamina. She can also survive being thrown into lava.

Her Weakness is after throwing her rings if the opponent is able to dodge she is open to being stomped on. Also, she is not the fastest but not the slowest. Opponents can use this to her advantage. She is also easily distracted by money. It takes longer but fire flowers will also defeat her but it takes a lot of shots to do it.

Her hobbies are singing, and ice skating. This could be why in some games she takes over Ice kingdoms. She is also a very good swimmer as she has also taken over water kingdoms.

In Super Mario Brothers 3- Wendy is the boss of the water world. She has taken over the Water World Kingdom. She was defeated by Mario and Luigi.

In Super Mario World she takes over Chocolate Island. Thus it could be that she likes chocolate as well. In other games its usually water or ice she takes over. Yet time after time she is defeated by Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi.

In Sports games she is usually a well balanced individual. She has good power, speed and endurance. This would also go along with how she is in battles as well.

Wendy O is a complex Koopaling. Her personality can vary from being angry to happy. AS I stated while she considers Peach, Daisy, Mario, Luigi and Yoshi her enemies she will work with them for the better good. She really just wants to please her other family members. First of all, kudos for the well-thought out and extensive bio of Wendy O Koopa! I always thought she was one of the most interesting and underrated Koopalings. I remember my first time facing her in Super Mario 3 and being taken aback by her ring attacks - those things were annoying, man!

Your mention about her name being influenced by Wendy O. Williams and Olivia Newton-John was something I wasn't aware of before. That's a really cool piece of trivia! Makes me wonder about the other inspirations behind the characters in the Mario universe.

Yeah her rings are tricky to dodge. They killed me so many times its not funny. Ludwig is named after Ludwig Bethoven. Nintendo changes their characters. Maybe down the road the koopalings will be Bowser Jr's siblings instead of cousins. They were considered his children for about 12/13 years before Bowser Jr was created. Then they changed it to niece and nephews. Changing them again would be so typical of Nintendo.
