Bear Hugger is an occurring character from Nintendo's Punch Out series. He has become one of the well known characters of the Punch out series. Bear Hugger made his debut in the arcade version of Punch out in the mid 1980's. He has appeared in most punch out games since then. So lets learn about this reoccurring character. Bear Hugger is the Canadian Champion in the Punch Out games. It is revealed throughout the games that he trains with actual bears and has a squirrel as his pet. He appears to be a lumberjack when he is not boxing. He is showing cutting down trees and eating breakfast before training. Earlier in his life he enjoyed cutting down trees. He also enjoyed eating large meals especially, salmon, pancakes, bacon sausage, and scrambled eggs. He also likes to guzzle maple syrup. A bear appeared and became friends with the large lumber jack serving as his spar partner. The bear showed Bear Hugger how to fight like a bear. He soon started winning and became Canadians boxing Champion. It is also revealed that he was from Salmon Arm British Columbia as that is the city he grew up in. At some time he got a squirrel as a pet. Personality wise Bear Hugger can appear to be jolly at times. He likes eating, spending time outdoors and sparing with his bear. He also likes playing hockey as he is Canadian. However, he does seem to enjoy trash talking. When he tells the player he is going to stomp them hard. He also jokingly says he is a hugger not a fighter. Moreover, he is not afraid to taunt he loves to fake the player out. If he wins he will laugh will standing over the knocked out player. Bear Hugger is an agile man for his size. He is able to get up after being knocked down unlike King Hippo who cannot get back up. He also can roll around in the ring. Despite being a large person he has a great deal of stamina. He has some tricky tricks up his sleeve. He kind of fights dirty. He is good at saying need a hug and not doing nothing only to fake the player out with a quick jab. His main attack his grappling attacks. He loves to grab the player with his bear hug. In addition, he also likes to knock the player down with his catch and release. His other attack is his tricky hook and quick jabs. As I stated if you mess up he will laugh and taunt you. In Championship round his attacks are quicker and do more damage. He also fakes the player out more. In the Championship round if the player does not knock him out his pet squirrel will tickle his nose causing him to get up. His weakness is he can leave himself open for attacks. This is most likely how he lost some of his matches by leaving himself open. He is also weak in some games to belly punches as they stun him allowing to get harder hits in. His main outfit is overalls with a toboggan. He keeps his squirrel under his toboggan. His attire is usually blue kind of like blue jean overalls. Here is his stats From: Salmon Arm Canada Age: 32 years old Height: 192 centimeters he is about 6'3 Weight: 200 Kilograms he weights 440 pounds 17 winds with 10 being knock outs 12 loses In earlier games he was on the minor circuit. However, in recent games he fights on the more difficult Major Circuit. This also reflects his fighting moves. In earlier games he was easier to deal with. But in recent games he is more difficult to beat. A few games from game pro stated that in the latest game Bear Hugger was the first opponent to give the player trouble. Another game site stated he is so good at faking the player out only to hit them with a hard attack. When I played one of the recent Punch Out games Bear Hugger game me trouble. It was an upgrade over his NES and SNES versions. Anyway, this concludes my biography on this reoccurring character. Bear Hugger is the Canadian Champion in the Punch Out games.
