Burn Dinorex also known as Burn Mattrex or simply Mattrex is a maverick from the game Mega Man X5. He is a fire maverick and based off of a dinosaur specifically a Tyrannosaurus.

He was a member of the Repliforce and survived the Maverick Hunter and Repliforce war from Mega Man X4. His role seems to be a weapon development officer. He also produced thermal energy to the rest of Repliforce. His base was in a volcano. His base also had a rocket booster engine inside of it. Moreover, his base featured very hot temperatures that not many could go into due to the very high heat.

It is hinted in dialogues with X/Zero that he may have gone rogue despite being in Repliforce. As they reveal he had been producing illegal weapons. This would not have been allowed even in Repliforce unless he had approval from the General or Colonel.

He witnessed over 90% of Repliforce getting destroyed in the tragic war, which was really started by Sigma. Seeing his organization get destroyed made him very isolated. In a way it also made him paranoid. In a way he was like Axle the Red. As Axle the Red was isolated and paranoid due to the fear of being hunted down. However, unlike Axle he was not paranoid due to a mutation. He was paranoid due to lack of trust. Indeed, he saw his organization get manipulated by Sigma, and saw his organization get destroyed in a pointless war.

X and Zero made it through the Volcano base. They eventually confronted Mattrex. Burn Dinorex thought that the Maverick Hunters were there to kill him for possibly making weapons or some other reason. X/Zero did not want to kill him. They explained to Dinorex they did not want to fight they just wanted the booster for the shuttle. Still he believed they were there to kill him and attacked them. Thus the two hunters where forced to defeat him.

Personality wise Dinorex is a non trusting person. He does not trust the Hunters due to the events in Repliforce. He really does not trust Sigma due to the latter manipulating his organization. His lack of trust made him paranoid. Once he gets set on an idea he does not give that idea up. When the hunters told him they were not there to fight him. He still insisted they were there to kill him. These flaws is what leads to his downfall.

Unlike other Mavericks in Mega Man X5. He does not seem to be infected with the virus or if he had been infected he had not shown it. The other mavericks got infected and that changed their behavior. When confronted by X and Zero he appears to be in his right mind even though his ideology is faulty. He also seems to know that he might be doing something wrong by making illegal weapons. Indeed, he believes that is why X and Zero are there is to kill him and shut down his weapon making base.

Burn Dinorex is a dangerous maverick. He can use his teeth and claws for attacks. His most powerful weapon is his fire weapon. He can shoot flames or send the flames scorching on the floor. His fire weapon is similar to Turbo Man's Scorch Wheel from Mega Man 7. His main weakness is The wind weapon. The wind weapon takes him down quick.

In conclusion, Burn Dinorex seems to be another victim of the Maverick Wars. He lost trust in everybody due to what he witnessed before Mega Man X5. The Space Colony crisis made him lose hope. After defeating him X and Zero got the shuttle engine booster. The Shuttle was crashed into the Colony destroying it.
