So I don't know if it belongs in this thread area but I have been hearing people complain that Simpsons games are hard.....I don't think they wrong I haven't had much luck with the console games myself, but why did they make them so hard? I never had a hard time playing the Simpsons Arcade game (I did say I did complete the game once at an arcade on June 13th 2005)

I know the ones on the older systems were difficult. For the NES game you had to get all items to advance from what I remember. It was so easy to miss an item. In addition, the enemy placement just was brutal sometimes.

Other times it seemed like I was fighting with the controls. Some of the characters had strange hit boxes. Others seemed to change speeds while controlling them. Thus it was so easy to get hit, fall into a pit, and etc.

I played the older games at one of my cousin's house. Our other cousins would get frustrated at the game too, so it was not just me.

That's exactly right. Even for games that were made around the time where they had to be difficult to extend play time, those Simpsons platformers were difficult. Item placement also wasn't very good.

No kidding I have found myself having a hard time getting past certain levels like Bart's Nightmare is literally a nightmare to play, most of these games, well let's just say I had better luck with the DS game and the animation on the cut scenes in the game doesn't look very good (or maybe it's because the charm isn't there because it's bogged down by so many recurring characters, the cast had grew since the first arcade game)

Simpson games are usually difficult because of one company. Konami.

Think about it, Konami made arcade games difficult and why not so the same for consoles? Like if the games are rather short and takes hours to beat, don’t you think they should raise the difficulty to get the most out of the money? What’s more important is rentals, companies didn’t like rentals due to losing money and if someone can beat the game within a weekend per say and return the game back to blockbuster or any game store… they’re losing money. They want to have a profit out of the games they’re making so they want to make sure it’s hard to where the person is obligated to make a purchase and try to beat the game if it’s enjoyable. It’s not just the Simpsons but most Konami games that came out during the Nintendo, Sega and Super Nintendo hay days. The fact they’re more difficult than the Japanese versions at times shows how prevalent the rental market was back then.

I know it’s not about the Simpsons but the company who made the games in general but since Konami published the franchise…. Thought I would give some insight for the reason why it’s so difficult.
