Mega Man 11 was such a huge hit for the classic Mega Man game line. Mega Man is a popular video game franchise. At the end of 2022 rumors began to circulate that Mega Man 12 would come out in 2023. I looked in to see if there was any truth to this.

The rumors of Mega Man 12 can be traced to Go Nintendo website. At the end of last year 2022 Go Nintendo made a statement that sources some even being Capcom Shareholders stated that Mega Man 12 was in the works. As one could imagine this set off rumors and a fire storm. Several other sites ran with it stating that we would be getting Mega Man 12 in 2023.

Game youtuber Oagles claimed he had information that Mega Man 12 was going to come out around December 17th 2023. He claims that he has information and claims that Capcom leaked it. If this was true it would not be surprising Capcom would pick that date to release a new Mega Man game. The franchise made its debut on December 17th, 1987.

This got the video game world excited. A lot of people were thinking we would get a new Mega Man game. Being a Mega Man fan and player myself I was thinking this would be fun to get a new addition. It seemed like it would be something to look forward to. However, hold everything as this may not be what it seems.

Even though I am a Meteorologist, I do enjoy classic games. The scientists in me started researching to see if these claims had any truth into them. On Capcom's site of upcoming games Mega Man 12 was not mentioned. I looked at upcoming games on other gaming pages and could not find anything about Mega Man 12 coming out.

Logan Moore of Comicbook.com reported that Capcom had future Mega Man games in the works set to come out in 2023. He claims that he has insider information. However, he stated it was possible, but questionable if there would be a Mega Man 12 release in 2023. As Capcom is focusing on its Battle Network series according to Moore.

So is there any truth to these Mega Man 12 rumors?

In my opinion, its really hard to say. Capcom could be developing Mega Man 12 and it would not be unusual for the gaming company to release a game around Christmas. On the other hand, Capcom has made suggestion forums and has even teased ideas for possible future games in demos. This could be were the supposed leaks for Mega Man 12 came from. Capcom could have just been teasing the idea or it could have been a suggestion. This could certainly cause people to think the game was in development.

For now, I think we can call these Mega Man 12 rumors just rumors at this point. Maybe as we get closer to Christmas Capcom will confirm the game. But for now nothing really stands out to me that this game is confirmed.
