Asking because I plan on taking the CompTIA A+ exams later this year and I am just wondering if anyone here knows anything about them and or anything about working in IT in general. I am coming without an IT background.

I just recently finished a class for the A+ from a local community college and am now using TestOut and Mike Meyers' book to study.

Any insight would be appreciated!

I'm enrolled for the fall semester at my college to work on a network security certificate, and I'm working on the google it support certificate online and other resource around it and cybersecurity. I'm a noob at all this as well so I dont have any experience to show, but from what I can tell the google it support certificaite is an excellent resource to learn the basics, and it looks good on your resume. Employers will search for people with the Google It cert in their resume and you will gain accesss to an exclusive job board from people who completed the cert.

Just wanted to drop that tidbit in case that's a resource that might interest you. If anyone can share there wisdom and experience on how to best get into IT that would be swell.

First off, kudos on pursuing a career in IT! It's such an expansive field and there's so much to learn.

I might only be 17 but I've always been super into computers.. I've basically taught myself a lot. Stuff like programming, networking, and even some of the hardware/software nuances. Also, I've dabbled a bit in hacking (ethical, of course!) just out of curiosity.

Regarding the CompTIA A+ exam, while I haven’t taken it myself, I’ve heard it’s a good starting point, especially if you don’t have a background in IT. Mike Meyers' book is pretty renowned, so you're on the right track with that one! And skippercapt, thanks for mentioning the Google IT support cert – might consider diving into that in the future. Always cool to learn about more resources out there.

Anyways, if you guys have questions about IT stuff or just wanna nerd out about tech in general, hit me up! Always down to help and learn more. Good luck with your studies!
