AI is taking some major leaps lately in what it's capable of doing. I've been playing around and experimenting with a few AI platforms over the past few months, which include Dall-E, MidJourney, and ChatGPT. ChatGPT seems to be the best for generating text, while MidJourney seems to be the best for generating images.

There are quite a few ways we could use these platforms to generate content for Vizzed.

As an experiment I asked Chat GPT to give me a list of ways that AI can provide content for a website, and here's what it said.

I've seen first hand some of these major leaps, and from the get go I must say I'm strongly against this regarding its application on Vizzed.

Everything that can be written is not only a staff role but also something many of us do for the fun of it. It's true that you're open to mistakes or unpopular opinions each user may have, but it's that experience from the user which gives value to writings. An AI cannot justify why it said something and cannot reply you back, nor can it test opinions of other users to reply better or correct its writing. Therefore, their opinion will be based on what a majority shares without any personal intake.

If a user does that it's considering plagiarizing or inappropriate content and can potentially incur in a temporal ban. Why are we going to bypass this for an AI? Why are we going to omit the possibility of user interaction? I don't see a valid answer for these questions.

I do agree that AI can generate content of a great quality, but it's void of value. The human touch will always be needed, and I refuse to believe the time has come for us to stop writing that kind of content and leave it up to an AI. Fan art, images and game summaries are okay, but the rest isn't. That's my honest opinion.

EX Palen : Good feedback, and I agree with most of what you said. The intention of this thread was to see what we could or shouldn't use it for.

I imagined using it primarily for the video game characters. We have maybe 80,000 video game characters on the site. Having a few facts generated for many of them would be good content that helps drive in traffic. Generating profile pictures would also add great value.

Agreed with both of those. Some characters have an extremely extensive history in videogames and it would be very hard for a human to rack up the necessary information to produce a decent bio. Having all that data collected by an AI which can then be used as basis for a user-made bio would be indeed a step forward to ease things up.

Also, we could probably use that to help adding characters to the games they appear in, which is another step into making both the RGR and VGR more complete. Leaving the hard work of compiling information to the AI which we can later convert into content in this site sounds like the correct path to take.

EX Palen : The Chat GPT could be used for adding stats/facts or basic information about the characters, while someone could later give the characters a more complete biography. I do think that some characters have already been given biographies, and I honestly don't know if any users wrote those up manually or not.

Something to also keep in mind is that the AI does sometimes make mistakes in the information that it provides.
