People take up a lot of different hobbies and jobs that require special technological tools to be done over a computer. Artists need draw pads, musicians need MIDI controllers, storage enthusiasts need external space, and people need controllers to play video games.

What's plugged into your computer?

I have a Casio CTK-3500 61 key piano, a Blue Snowball, an Akai MPD226 midi touchpad/mixer, an Akai MPK Mini mk3, a Korg minipad, a Canon TR4520, an 8bitdo game controller adapter for Switch and PS4 controllers and an Xbox wireless adapter. Really need a USB audio interface for better inputs. I use a USB hub to get the extra ports.

For mouse and keyboard, I'm using a Logitech G502 Hero and a Corsair K35 Pro.

There are only two things plugged into my computer. I usually have a flash drive when I'm working on research. I mostly research past hurricanes, past weather data, and climate data.

Sometimes I have a game controller in my other ports. This is how I play my games using my computer.

My setup is a solid mix of "serious gamer dude" and "guy that only uses the computer for the google and the face book." I have two Acer XFA240 monitors. Dual monitors was an absolute necessity for me. I tried it in college when I was the Editor-in-Chief of Binghamton Review, as our office computer had dual monitors, and since then I have not been able to go back. It makes everything so much easier, especially my work. I tutor online, so I am able to have the screen that I am sharing with students on one monitor, and the answer key or any notes for myself on the other. A single monitor just feels so restrictive now.

I have some kind of Razer mouse, I don't really know the details of it, I bought it because it was on sale at Best Buy. I have a Logitech keyboard that I bought for $11 at Target. In the audiovisual department, I have a Blue Snowball that I bought years ago, and some Logi webcam that my first tutoring job sent me to use for my classes.

I have some okay things for my computer, but most of the money was spent on the build.

I have a Hisense 43' Roku TV as my monitor, since I double it as a TV since I don't have the space for both.

I have a Razer Basilisk V3 for my mouse. It's not the top of the market, but honestly its a really good mouse.

I have a Hyper X Elite 2 keyboard, which is perfect for me since I love a full size and mechanical board.

I have a Corsair HS80 headset which is the most expensive part of my peripherals, but its absolutely worth it. The sound quality is great and the microphone is better than the Razer stand mic I used to have.

Starting with the obvious ones, I have a USB-plugged Lenovo keyboard and a Logitech mouse. Not sure what model they are, but I can tell you they're nothing state of the art as I'm not picky with my peripherals. I've tried in the past wireless mouses, keyboards with the mouse incorporated and other weird inventions, but ultimately I'm sticking with the classic cables and might probably stay like this.

I also have my JBL Pebbles speakers. They're quite small, so they don't take up much space, and they're quite easy to use and adjust the volume. The only thing is that their USB cable is short and has limited how I can put them on my desk. Also only one is connected to the tower, the other one is connected to this first one and also has a short cable.

The last thing permanently plugged to my tower is my XBox 360 controller to play videogames. Due to both front USB ports of my tower being taken (one for the speakers and the other one for my Wi-fi adapter) I had to plug it on the back, and due to the tower's position is very complicated to plug/unplug it when not in use, so I've left it there permanently. Not an issue because it has a long cable and doesn't mess anything around, but it's the only peripheral permanently connected I may not use regularly.

Other than these, I have a Logitech webcam for when I need it for school, again a basic model as the most I used it was during the pandemic for Zoom videocalls. I also have a pair of headphones with an incorporated mic, ones with a USB connector and another one with the standard audio connection. The first one used to work well but for some reason it messes with my wi-fi adapter making it non-functional, so I can't use them for anything internet-related and I was forced to get the second pair for my online classes. They work well, except for the residual noise they have that I yet have to figure out how to eliminate.

That's everything I have now, but considering that I may change computers soon since my current one is about to become 7 years old I may update some of the peripherals I have. I do want to get new speakers and do away with the problem of the cable, and I'll also get a new controller because my current one is very worn out. Maybe I could look again into adapting my Switch or PS4 controllers depending on what I find, though my past experiences with that have been kind of unsuccessful.

From my last post on here i have replaced two peripherals. Its was mostly to just upgrade them to something better.

I replaced my old Huion Kamvas 13 with a Huion Kamvas Pro 24 (2K version). Why exactly did i replace it? I just wanted a much bigger drawing tablet to work with. The screen size allows me to pay attention or even catch some details that would normally be hard to spot on a smaller screen. Its also 1440p compared to my old drawing tablet witch was 1080p. Not much of a different but the gui scales better and display mores on screen.

I also replaced my microphone from a FIFINE Studio Condenser USB Microphone to a Sennheiser Profile. I just wanted a better quality mic for streaming. I do love the design of the mic, its pretty clean. One other advantage it has over the old one is that it uses a USB-C connection unlike my old mic which uses a proprietary connector. So its much easier to replace the wire if any issues arise.
