Well I can't really recommend playing games over wireless, because it just isn't stable.
Wireless internet signals are susceptible to other signals flying around so your best bet is to turn off other devices that can cause signal degredation (like TVs, radios, phones, microwaves, or any wireless device) and see if the signal strength improves.
If not then there might be outside interferance from a neighbor or something.
Try and see how strong the signal is if you move your PC closer to the router.
If the strength improves then signal degredation from interferance is definately your problem.

Well if you can't move the computer closer and have turned off all the things that might be causing interferance then the only other thing that I could suggest is to somehow boost the signal strength.

Things to do to try and boost signal strength:
Make sure PC is in line of sight of router.
Remove any reflective surface (metal, mirrors, windows, glass) that might be in between the router and the PC.
Get a USB antenna for your PC (I'm assuming you are using a USB dongle, the thing that looks like a flash drive, rather then the thing that looks like a stick antenna).
