Today I'm starting an anime blog. It's going to be similar to my gaming one but it's going to chronicle my thoughts on every anime that I watch. Some will be of anime that I'm watching or recently watched while some will be about anime that I've already watched long ago. Each entry will have what I liked and didn't like about an anime and maybe an overall rating and I'll try to talk about 3-5 different anime with each episode. You can use this this to find new anime to watch or to talk about the anime that I've mentioned.

The Quintessential Quintuplets

The Quintessential Quintuplets is a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I spent a few months actively avoiding it but then I finally gave in earlier this month and I immediately loved it. The show can be really stupid at times and make no sense but there are some really good characters, a lot of great humor, and a decent level of charm throughout.

The show that I've been comparing it to the most is Toradora. The show is better than Toradora in a couple areas but is far outclassed when it comes to story and emotional depth. One of the main reasons that I liked it so much is because of the voice acting. In English, the main guy is voiced by Josh Grelle, who does an exceptional job at voicing dudes who are loud and annoying.

I found myself loving the humor and art style and getting more and more invested in the characters as it went on. Overall, I've been really enjoying the show and gave it a low 9 as a rating.

Trapped In A Dating Sim

This is another anime that I was kind of avoiding but I randomly decided to give it a shot a few days ago and I'm glad that I did. At first I thought it was going to be like your standard Isekai so I was going to watch the 1st episode and see what happens from there but like 5 minutes in I was thinking of dropping it without even finishing the episode.

But then two things caught my attention. The first is that the show isn't trying to be the standard Isekai, it's mostly a parody of different anime and gaming concepts, which is something that I liked. I also really liked the actual Isekai aspect. You see, I hate reincarnation Isekai, like if they are reborn as a baby with all their memories. I only like the ones where they're summoned or they look like someone else but they're around the same age. I'm just not really a fan of a lot of time passing as they grow up. But in this anime, he was reborn without any of his old memories and gets them back later on in his new life, which I thought was a cool concept.

It's not trying to be too serious about what it is and that's what I mostly like about it.

Darling In the Franxx

I have a lot to say about Darling in the Franxx and the only reason that I really want to talk about it is because I'm ready to give it another chance. When I watched it for the first time, I didn't even finish the first episode before giving up and it ended up being one of my least favorite anime out of the 50+ that I've seen. But that's only because I had large chunks of the story spoiled to me.

Normally I like spoilers because it can get me excited to see but in this case, the story wasn't resonating with me. But the problem is that I really enjoyed the world building and animation of the first episode and I absolutely loved the characters, I just couldn't get passed the story. Like if I had to rate the anime on everything but story, I'd probably give it a 9 but with everything I knew, I ended up giving it something like a 5. But as I started thinking about it, I realized that I really wanted to get invested in the characters so I'm going to be giving the anime another chance and I'll be looking past the story.

Demon Slayer

I finally got around to watching Demon Slayer over the past week. I was already pretty invested because I saw the movie, have all the manga, own multiple copies of the game, and have three signed prints. But I knew very little of the actual story and haven't seen a single episode until this week, but it's always been something that I wanted to watch ever since watching the movie.

My main thought is that I remember being very emotional while watching the first three episodes, even though I already knew most of what was going to happen. The only concern I had was that I couldn't tell why I was emotional. I could have been emotional because it was genuinely heartbreaking or because I knew that Tanjiros life was only going to get more chaotic.

My favorite character doesn't appear until much later so I wasn't too invested but all the characters are really well made, the story is fantastic, and the art style is really good though it took a while for me to really start enjoying the art. As someone who started with the movie and in theaters, I thought the art was kind of lackluster at the start, but still good.

I gave different parts of the first season varying ratings between 7 and 9 and I thought it was overall a really good show.

I have two anime to talk about this time around.

For starters, I finally managed to get back into Darling in the Franxx, it took me four months to finish the first episode. And IK basically gave up on it again. I loved the animation during the battle in the first episode and my hopes did get a little high but then the second episode was pretty lackluster for me and didn't really keep the momentum going. It's basically better than when I first watched but still hasn't gotten me invested enough yet.

I also finally started Reincarnated As A Slime. The two things that I look for in an Isekai were both missing but I really liked the humor and the voice acting in the first episode, so I kept going and it was slowly getting better.
