Here's a funny story: I'm not a fan of the Fate franchise, at least not yet, and even so, I just finished watching Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya from beginning to end. It's the first of several series that are part of the Fate franchise, after this series, there was the release of Fate/Kaled Liner Prisma Illya 2wei! (get it? German...), and if I'm correct, there are 3 or 4 Prisma Illya series, a movie, and an OVA or something (Prisma Phantasm). I definitely plan to get at least Prima Illya 2wei! in physical format, who knows if I'll be able to get the rest of the releases, considering that apparently, they are more expensive and difficult to get nowadays, but Prisma Illya 2wei!...yeah, I'll try to get that series too.

I'll spare you the details about the series, you don't need a synopsis really. Let's just say that Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is a series with great action/fight sequences (there is more focus on action than I thought), funny moments (it's a comedy to an extent), and some moving moments. It's ironic really, something obvious about the series, everything related with Prisma Illya to be honest, is that it should be a series for Fate fans, people who are already fans of the franchise, it's not necessarily trying to convert people into Fate fans, and even so, this series was my first experience with the franchise (not counting a little of the video game Fate/Extella The Umbral Star), even if you aren't a fan of the Fate franchise, you can still have a blast with Prisma Illya thanks to its action scenes and hilarious moments. I'll be honest, I watched the series partially because I'm a fan of magical girls or Mahou Shoujo stuff, and partially because I know for sure that, of all the things about the Fate franchise, this part (the 3 or 4 prisma illya series and what not) of the Fate franchise is the most controversial part of the franchise, at least for some people...with all those comments that said that these series are ''gross'', ''awful'' or ''I hate it'' with some people almost saying that Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya (and the content that was released later) should not exist...all those comments gave me morbid curiosity about the series, so, I watched it in English and I don't regret it.

If you are a fan of mahou shoujo stuff, comedy with fan service, action, and moving moments with characters crying and/or piano music, I definitely recommend the series even if you aren't a fan of the Fate franchise...assuming that you don't have a problem with fanservice that involves characters that even canonically speaking, should be 13 at most or something, two characters are young and even so they get involved in a lot of situations (even situations of life or death)...and yeah, it's fiction, it doesn't mattter, in fiction anything goes as I've said before, I must say, however, that in the official dub and translation, there are 1 or two very liberal translations, specifically, one of the characters, Sella, says that Shirou Emiya is an ''adoptive brother'', and not just in the dub, in the English subtitles if you watch the series (the first episode to be specific) with Japanese voices, the subtitles refer to him as a ''step brother'', and in fansubs I saw on a specific website, she says that Shirou is Illya's cousin, not her adoptive brother or step brother...Illya also says that she's a ''middle school'' student and that's...not really the case, probably. The classroom we see throughout the series is of the class 5-1, I would say that Illya and her classmates are primary/elementary school students...other than those things about the localization which can be interpreted as censorship or definitely are a form of censorship at worst, if you don't have a problem with those few liberties...yeah, if you are interested, I highly recommend the series.

For my next thread, I'll definitely write another review, see you next time.
