Let me say this right away, Totally Reliable Delivery Service is one of the most fun and silly games of the last year+. I remember not hearing about this game when it was first released but then about two to three weeks after the game was released, a couple of my favorite Youtubers started posting videos of them playing it and I quickly fell in love. I watched all of their videos and even after seeing them do everything that there is to do in the game, I knew that I wanted to play the game for myself.

It’s mostly a solid multiplayer game with lots to do as a team and can result in some great moments based on what you and your friends do, but as a single player campaign the game can be just as zany and quite the challenge. I thought that sounded good, so when the game went on sale for like $6 or so earlier this year, I picked up a copy to see what it was really like to play alone. Even though it was a bit challenging without a team to back me up, I ended up spending hours playing the game and laughing at how silly many of the scenarios and moments were.

GRAPHICS: 8/10

The graphics of Totally Reliable Delivery Service were never meant to be serious. From a visual standpoint, it’s very much like Human Fall Flat mixed with Fortnite and there’s nothing wrong with that. There isn’t a crazy amount of detail but the entire game world is full of color and can be pretty charming at times. There can also be a bunch of times where the animation ends up being pretty glitchy or other times where the models don’t look all that great. But at times like that, I look past the issues because it’s supposed to be fun and silly and the graphics do a really great job meeting those expectations.

SOUND: 7/10

The only thing that I really have to say about sound is that if you messed up somewhere, the game is going to let you know with sound. I have so many memories of just hearing explosions or planes crashing, or the sound when you fall 100 feet and just hit the ground. There’s lots of loud noises but also a bunch of subtle ones that work and make the game feel more fun. The assortment of sound effects was really good but I just wish there was more in terms of a soundtrack.

STORY:

This is a game about going from point a to point b. There is no story.

ADDICTIVENESS: 9/10

If you’re playing the game by yourself, you’re going to find that there’s a lot of fun and enjoyment to be had. The world that the game takes place in is huge with lots of different areas to explore and do deliveries in. There are two ways that you’re going to have fun in the game. The first is by completing the actual missions. Once you start the delivery, you have a certain amount of time to complete it to get certain trophies and to get a certain amount of money out of it. Some people are going to do the delivery over and over until they get the fastest speed possible.

The other way to have fun is by the sheer silliness and stupidity of the game. Many of the deliveries are just silly, you’re going to crash planes, explode fire extinguishers, race around the islands in golf carts, and do a bunch of other things. You can literally go a couple hours straight without doing a single delivery but have a blast doing all sorts of stupid things that you just find randomly around the world.

Plus, the game gets even more fun if you’re playing online with a few friends. Obviously many of the deliveries are going to be a lot easier with more people to help but at the same time, the silliness and stupidity also goes up. There’s just so much fun to be had with this game, regardless of whether or not you’re playing with friends.

DEPTH: 9/10

For a game that’s simply about doing deliveries, there’s a surprising amount of depth to it. The first thing you have to talk about is how big the world is. It’s massive and has lots of different islands and places for you to visit and explore. Each area is pretty big, has a lot of deliveries for you to accept, and usually have a bunch of other things to do.

Just the number of deliveries there are is pretty good and that’s honestly just the side hustle in this game. It might be a game about delivering packages but the real game is doing everything else. There’s a bunch of different vehicles for you to drive and a ton of secret places for you to find too. There’s even a couple DLC packs that add even more to the game, so if you’ve done everything there is to do in the base game, these packs should get you a few more hours.

DIFFICULTY: 2

Honestly you shouldn’t even be thinking about difficulty. Yes, some of the tougher deliveries might be a bit challenging and require multiple attempts or even assistance from a few friends. But the main point of the game is to have fun with all the different things lying around each of the islands. There were so many times where I would spend an hour in between deliveries because I was exploring or having so much fun doing other things and all these other things don’t really require any skill.

If you’re trying to do deliveries and some of them are too tough, all you have to do is keep trying because you’ll get it done eventually or just take a break and do something else and then come back to that one. Overall, the game is super easy.

OVERALL: 8.3/10

Look, if you’re looking for a fun time, then this game is the way to go. You can play the game for hours by yourself and have a really fun and humorous experience and then you can turn around and play it over with your friends and it will feel like you’re playing it for the first time again. The game can also be really cheap at times because it’s gone on sale for under $10 many time in the past year. I think it was only $7.49 or wo when I bought it and that was a great deal.

Even if you only play the game by yourself and once you do all the deliveries you stop playing forever, that’s still a decent amount of content that you get out of it. The game is very enjoyable and it’s so silly and over the top at times and it’s such a treat. If you can get your hands on this game, you should, and my overall grade for Totally Reliable Delivery Service is going to be an 8.3 out of 10.
