Oh man I remember a time when this show was everywhere like it aired 5 days a week in prime time at one point. No seriously, in the late 90s and early 2000s all that the American Broadcasting corporation had to offer was Millionaire and Drew Carey(he had his self-titled sitcom and Whose Line at the time), not to mention sporting events (before Disney acquired ESPN) and the occasional Disney Sunday movie (a good chunk of the time it was original TV movies, I still have the Anne Frank tv movie taped from it's original broadcast).
Gameplay: There's no story here it's a trivia game, you need to answer 15 questions correctly in order to get to one million dollars.
Graphics: The opening graphic are definitely different but this game is meant for the Windows 95/98 system, however when I put the game in the 98 system there's a sound issue, and when I put it in the XP there's a graphics issue, the opening sequence lags, and it's especially noticeable on Regis and he doesn't look the way he did in the original game (which I will review one day just not right now).
Sound: We get the sounds we would normally hear when we watch the game show, heck we even hear it on the installation screen. And we get Phone-a-friends that are kind of useless...well at least he didn't bring in he who must not be named (and I ain't talkin' about Voldemort).
Addictive: I don't play this game frequently enough to consider it addictive, most of of the time I try to play enough to see how far I can get.
Depth: this is one of those games where you need to use your keyboard a majority of the time. There are actually more questions you can download off the internet but I don't think the site exists anymore so I never bothered to do that.
Difficulty: it would depend on how good one is with trivia. But I do feel that the questions in this game were a little too easy.
Post review follow-up: I have never ever reached a million dollar question ever when playing any incarnation of the game I won't lie about that, there have been other version of the game including a version for kids, sports, even Disney (I mean why not the show aired on a Disney owned network) I mean it's had it's cultural impact considering the number of games that were put out and a couple of reboots (one that was Super Millionaire, and a tenth anniversary edition but we can thank the impact of Slumdog Millionaire for that) and most recently a new version of Celebrity Millionaire....oh I forgot about that, maybe I'll bring it up when I do the original CD version....if I come across it in this TdV. One of these days I should play the 2nd edition (which I have purchased second hand earlier this year) because I'm hoping to do a marathon before the summer is over.
This concludes my review, join me tomorrow when I review....Carmen Sandiego Junior Detective (alright something that will be long!!!!)
