It might be odd to do a review of a sequel before reviewing the first game however it's been years since I last touched Xenoverse one so I would need a major refresher to dare review that game. I also for the most part am leaving out Hero Coliseum from the review cause including the gameplay and everything of that would make this review twice as long.

Gameplay 8/10 -
The combat system can seem slightly basic in this game your combos are all done with 2 buttons and the combos are all determined by how many times you hit X or Y or a combination of them both. You also have options to knock back the enemy and then to pursue them and the option to attack the front or the back of the opponent, knocking them away can also be used to use super attacks which I'll get into during the depth part of the review. One of the major elements of the gameplay is your stamina and ki, you need stamina for evasive's to get out of dangerous situations and to teleport behind your opponent to get out of a combo or to continue one and you need ki for supers and ultimate's. Players have to keep a close eye on their stamina to avoid getting stamina broke which can be done by hitting a player with one or if they simply use all of their stamina, where they cant block or fly fast and are pretty much defenseless you can also preform perfect blocks by blocking at the second you would get hit and lower the enemy's stamina. There was also limit burst's introduced in one of the free updates which can be activated once a fight in a pinch for a boost to attack, give you super armor, or make you regenerate health for a while. While it seems basic at first the combat is a major improvement over the first game in the series.

Graphics 8/10 -
The game was left off of last generation systems in part to improve the graphics and it really payed off the lighting looks miles better then Xenoverse ever did. When it comes to animation the in game rendered scenes most of the time don't look to great with characters repeating the same animations over and over on loop, however in combat the move animations are quite nice and enjoyable specifically the new ones.

Sound 9/10 -
The sound does a great job at capturing the feel of Dragon Ball with the sound effects. While on the topic of sound I wanna mention the voice acting in this game, many of the lines end up being quite quotable from this game and if you're a fan of Dragon Ball Z Abridged you can choose some custom character voices from Team Four Star.
The soundtrack has a lot more memorable songs then the first did and some tracks that really make the stakes feel incredibly high.

Addictive 10/10 -
This game has so many missions to do that it can take quite a while to do and then there's the fact that you can play as five races all with different stats. The game can be played with a multiple builds on the created characters using the different stats you can assign your character which are Health, Attack, Ki, Stamina,Strike Supers, and Ki Supers. On top of all that there is also the added Hero Coliseum on top of all that which adds a other campaign to play through with many different options on how to build your team.

Story 5/10 -
This game is not your typical retelling of Dragon Ball Z this game will have you protecting the history of the series as the time patrol. Most of the situations feel like a fun twist on the story for you to correct, however if you played the first Xenoverse a lot of the story can feel like a rehash of the first game.

Depth 9/10 -
This game has tons of skills for the player to collect and use on custom character they have made, and then the fact that there is hundreds of clothing options as well that can have a change in your characters stats, or you can equip a QQBang to have the increase in stats you want while wearing whatever you like. The game also has many super souls which have different effects on gameplay when you're in a pinch that you can collect.

Difficulty 6/10 -
This part was really hard to rate for a few reasons, this game parallel quest wise is for the most part easier then the first Xenoverse but the game also has added some much harder missions to tackle called Expert Missions. The problem I ran into ranking the difficulty is that all the really hard missions are completely optional and the rewards from doing them are usually not worth the effort so depending on how you look at this the difficulty could be easily bumped up a number or two.

Overall 7.9/10 -
The game has tons of content and replay value to sink your time into as well as the ability to do it with friends for the Parallel Quests and Expert Missions the only real drawback for the game is how similar the story can feel to the first Xenoverse.
