I don't normally buy digital games. I always buy physical copies of games. For the PS4 I have 50 physical games and 0 digital ones. You need internet, you need storage, etc.

But for the Switch it's a little different for a few reasons. Switch games are much more expensive than their PS4 counterparts. If I want a game, the physical Switch game is usually at least $10 more expensive than the PS4 copy, look at games like Skyrim, Moonlighter, Diablo 3, and a bunch of others.

But for some reason, at places like Amazon and Best Buy, digital copies are much cheaper than the physical copies. Normally the digital copies of a game stay at full price forever.

Also it's easier to download games for the Switch since you can take it anywhere. Plus I get a ton of review copies.

But how much space is needed? Right now I havr a bunch of small downloaded games but only a 16GB SD card with plans to get games like Skyrim, My Time at Portia, and more, and I'm pretty sure 16GB won't cut it?

How much space is ideal if you plan on really gaming? How much space do you have?

Generally if you plan to play Switch games often, especially new releases as they come out. You're gonna need an SD card, as even carts have to unpack game data, even more so with updates. If you plan to only do cartridge gaming, and want it cheap. I would go with a 256GB micro SD card. Samsung if you can, as they are pretty good. If you wanna go baller, then 512GB's is the best you can get, but cheaper ones are 400GB's

Boured : I didn't even know that there were cards with that much space. The one I bought was 128GB and not only did I think that was the biggest one, but it also cost a fortune too.

Plus I bought that for my laptop so my Switch is still stuck with 16GB which so far holds 8 downloaded games.

zanderlex :

256GB (Better start kicking yourself if you bought your 128 for more than this): Link

512GB (If you wanna never worry about space for a long time) Link

Depends on how much you play on your Switch. If it is your main, go-to console or if you see yourself coming near the amount of games you have on your PS4, I would consider getting either a 256 GB or 512 GB.

I am not super heavy on gaming myself, so a 128 GB micro SD ended up being perfect for me. I got it for only $25 too, so it was a pretty good deal. I also go with purely physical Switch games (with the exception of FF7 and Hollow Knight, which I got digitally before it got a physical release) because I just prefer physically owning a game rather than just purchasing the licensing to play it. Never know when stores will close online and leave you unable to play your digital games. At least with physical games, you should be able to always play them as long as you take proper care of them.

SacredShadow : Tomorrow and Tuesday Amazon is selling 256GB Micro for like $30. Is that the average price or actually a deal or should I look somewhere else?

zanderlex : $30 is a great price for a 256 GB micro sd. The one I see on Amazon now is a Sandisk too which is an excellent and reputable brand. I've come to find out that there are a lot of fake sds and micro sds out there that actually have less space on them than advertised, some of which can look very convincing. This is why I prefer to buy them from brick and mortar stores. Nonetheless, this is a great deal from a well known brand (with a solid rating as well), so that shouldn't be a problem at all. I definitely think you should consider getting this one while the sale is active, if this is the one you came across.
