I'm curious as to how many of you would grade him as a president, from January 2017 until now. What are you happy with? Unhappy with? Did you vote for him? Is there anything so far that has surprised you? Have any of his new policies directly impacted you?

Note, I'm a 3rd Party person and I was a Gary Johnson guy during the 2016 US presidential election, so I'm not leaning towards Trump or against Trump in any way, because with me, I could careless on who's President of the United States.

But to put my option towards this topic about how Donald Trump is doing, he's doing alright I guess, a little bit better than Barack Obama to my opinion, but not by much though, The thing I do like about Trump is that he talked to Kim Jong Un about shutting down North Korea's Nuclear Program which is a plus, I got to give it that, other than that, nothing much.. There is flaws I do have with Trump as well, although I don't have any yet, but they soon would be.

As for Trump doing anything that impacted my life... He hasn't done anything that has changed or altered my life for the better or the worse, either has Barack Obama, or even George Bush Jr, I'm still the same IB as I was 2 years ago, 10 years ago, and so on and so on, and I don't think any future president (either parties) is going to alter my life for the better or for the worse.

By the next Presidential Election, I'm planning on going 3rd Party again for the 3rd time, because I don't vote Democrat or Republican because how both parties wants to kill each other, people say that "I'm just wasting my vote", so what, better to waste my vote than getting my head chewed off.

Like I said, I'm a Gary Johnson guy, so I disliked both Hillary and Trump during the 2016 US Presidential Election, nor I ever support both Democratic and Republican Parties. So I'm not going to say that I love Trump nor hate Trump, he's like the other past Presidents of the United States.......... meh.

So, on a scale on 1 to 10, I give Trump a 6/10 (and put it into retrospect, I gave Obama a 5/10, Bush Jr. a 5/10, and Bill Clinton a 5/10)

I'm not even going to read what else was written here... I'm just going to implore that this be shut down. No good can come of it. Even if a dozen gather to try to discuss the man with earnest, honest opinion and no rancor it's going to turn into a molotov party before the hour is up.

Noyb42 : You do have a really good point, this thread can be proven to spiral out of control because of people that are pro-Trump and anti-Trump. This is why that I was 3rd Party because of this same reason.

When it comes to things about Trump, stuff tent to spiral out of control, that is why I stay out of these arguments.

This is why that in case that this starts getting out of control, I think it should be right to let the mods close this because on how controversial that this kinda of thread can lead to, because of both sides attacking each other which personally I find completely stupid. He's just a guy, come on, he's no different from the president before him, and the person before him, and before him, they all are the same to be honest, like has he done anything to affect your life?

If I'm being totally honest here, I was scared witless during the election because, up until now, we really had no idea what he was going to do or say. On one hand, we had the Clinton Mafia, on the other, we had an egomaniacal reality TV host. I was considering fleeing to Canada.

This far in, I'm very pleasantly surprised that there's actually some competence behind his TV persona. He hasn't been anything close to the catastrophe I was expecting from either candidate.

Under his presidency we have seen tax cuts, wage hikes, great strides in the direction of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula, the end of the Korean War (even if those two wind up falling out, we've gotten further than we ever had before), etc. Whether you're on one side or the other, all of those things are good for everyone.

Some things I don't really like are the fact that he can be rather unprofessional at rallies. It's good that he's actually speaking his mind and not getting bogged down in all the unwritten rules and regulations of the position that prohibit other elected officials from really accomplishing anything but it can be done with a little more tact. And as a side effect of his blunt, unfiltered approach, a good deal of his less mature supporters are emboldened and are unintentionally damaging the image of the right just as the loud, obnoxious, vocal minority of the left damage their's.

IgorBird122 : It's good that you don't buy into the "wasted vote" crap. It's that mentality that fulfills itself. If more people who believed their vote would be wasted voted for third-parties, third-party candidates would actually have a chance. It's a big problem and those of us who know realize it need to do what we can to get people out of that mental rut.

Also, to be fair, Trump basically was a third-party candidate in elephant's clothing, so to speak. He ran as a Republican because it was his only chance at winning and, if you recall, the Republican Party did everything they could to try and shut him down in favor of someone more aligned with the party. To this day there are a large number of Republican congressmen and senators that reject Trump and the Republican voters are somewhat split. Sometimes, we have to look past the label and look at their intentions.

Okay I will try to offer an unbiased grade of this. I am a conservative on some issues and moderate on others. I either vote Republican or 3rd party. I did not vote for Trump due to his sexual assault claims, mocking the disabled, and other things I found concerning about him.

Winter- D- I really do not remember him doing anything in January other than making outrageous statements on Twitter

May-F Losing 1,400 children is unacceptable. Also putting children into prison camps is also unacceptable. Not to mention Trump did nothing about this situation until people protested. He could have ended it right there but he didn't.  Also his high tariffs could hurt Americans as well.

June- C- I give Trump a C minus in June. Him insulting our allies brings down his rating. I give him credit though for trying something new with North Korea. What past Presidents have done did not work. No changes are the meeting will not work but it was a start or an attempt to try something new. So that raises his rating a little bit

July- So far I would have to give him a D- for July. His outrageous tweets are coming back up, plus he has made some unprofessional statements. I give him a D- because the economy is still doing good for now. But again more countries are putting tariffs on us due to his actions. So that could send the economy tanking

tornadocam : Which I would fully understand your concerns about Donald Trump getting elected, and you didn't want him to win it. The only reason I didn't really trust Trump to run office is because of his controversial tweets and what not (although a lot of people are far worse than him), but I don't think he would of been a fit. But don't think I was all for Hillary Clinton, I did not like her at all, with all her corruptions, greed, hiding secrets, not caring about anyone but herself and her own party, basically everything.

Also, some of the things you have mentioned with the whole migrant children crisis here in the United States, this has been happening for like 4 years, ever since the presidency of Barack Obama, and he didn't do hardly anything to help out these children, and I don't want you to think that I'm behind Trump as well, but he also haven't done much of anything for these children as well.

This brings me to this, the reason why I'm 3rd Party because I don't care about the stupid 2-party system, because all it is, it's 2 groups that wants to fight with each other, crying and moaning, and getting nothing done, and with a 3rd Party Presidency would of changed all of that.

Although it's one of those, "we're going to keep on looking at Trump for the next 2 years and see where he stands, either good or bad, which to me, I could care less.

m0ssb3rg935 : Personally, these 3rd Party people should ignore those Liberals and Conservatives that complain that "Oh, you 3rd Parties all waste your votes", because what will happen if a 3 Party being served as the President of the United States, then both sides have to stop acting like children and actually get stuff accomplished.

It's hard to rate a president when they have to satisfy both sides of the isle. It's basically mission impossible. Oh well, a new president will take over soon and life will continue. The world will not end under Trump as it didn't with Obama but I expect the country to be a bigger mess then it was when he took office by the time he exits. That is just how it is and how it always seems to go.

I give him an F- for his proposed ideas to make america great again. This is why he deserves an F-, he wants to cut medicare by $200+ billion, medicaid by over a trillion and social security by $70 billion. That is not making America great again. Taking money from poor people and people who suffer disabilities and medical conditions is lowest of the low. He also wants to reform the foodstamp program to where he gets to tell people what they can and cannot eat. He wants the government to deliver canned foods to people. His idea on the wall, stupid. People can still climb, dig and walk around the walls end. Banning muslims or whatever wont make country safer when domestic terrorism is rising under his administration by mostly Caucasian law abiding citizens who purchased weapons legally and end up turning into lone wolf extremists. The tariffs could cripple the country and bring us back into a bad recession.

I give him a b+ for his will to change or take action on things pretty swiftly. Trying to pass some gun control laws, meeting with kim jong un and doing executive orders whatever they may be for better or worse. But like I said, I don't like his proposed ideas with the poor and disabled. The guy acts like a baby and he is over 70 years old but then again so do all politicians pretty much. Get off twitter (a generation z tool) and focus on your job. No need to continue to call people names so you can get cheers and votes.

It seems like ever since he took office we have become even more politically correct. People like Kathy Griffin (far left) and Rosanne (far right) ruined their careers by saying or doing something stupid politically yet the Donald walks away clean and gets away with it when it insults others. I don't like where we are headed honestly.

I'm not affiliated with any party. I'm just thinking realistically here as a disabled person that his ideas will not make america great again for us living in poverty or those living with medical issues. It's always middle class this and middle class that and their need to stockpile guns, which is why I really hate the right side of the spectrum. The left side is also bad with their protests about gun controls, illegal aliens and etc... it never ends.

JigSaw : I don't know anything about the Medicare or Medicaid thing and I'll have to do some research on that, but as for a couple other points...

Foodstamps desperately need reforming and I say that as someone who was on them for a couple years. A third of everyone we knew in person was on them and, instead of making them stretch and buying cheaper foods, instead of using it to supplement their income, they were cheating the system by not reporting work and going out and spending it on steak and ordering $35 worth of pizza and sides and buying tons of energy drinks and candy with it. On top of all that, several of them were trading foodstamps for cash so they could buy booze, cigarettes and drugs. Foodstamps are being abused by tons of people at the expense of anyone paying taxes, people financially struggling included. Generally speaking, every welfare program we have could use a little more oversight to make sure the money's going where it's supposed to and I'd go as far as to say that random drug tests should be mandatory for people on them.

I don't really feel like the tariffs are permanent. He's a business guy and he knows how this stuff works, so doing something like this would be contrary to much of what he's learned over the years. I get the feeling this has some strategic importance. Like he's using them to put pressure on someone else for our gain in the long run. Think back to the arms race with the USSR.

I get the feeling this has some strategic importance. Like he's using them to put pressure on someone else for our gain in the long run. Think back to the arms race with the USSR.

m0ssb3rg935 : Well there is abuse in pretty much every program. When signing up to the foodstamp program they are suppose to agree not to sell them for drugs and or use it at strip clubs and weed shops LOL. I agree though somewhat, if you got a history of drug abuse you should be forced to take random drug tests, but that costs money. I don't see the point in testing people who do not have a criminal record of drug abuse because that would just cost way too much money. I think a good idea is to figure out what to do with the criminals and drug abusers first before taking away the money from people who actually need it and use it for food.

JigSaw : That's just the problem, though. Granted, it's anecdotal evidence, but the people I'm referring to don't have drug-related criminal records because they never got caught. I would also speculate that the overhead for requiring people in the SNAP program to provide evidence that they're trying to find some kind of work as well as random drug tests would be less than the amount of money being sucked out of the system by the abusers. I do recognize that speculate is a key word here and I'll have to try to find some stats, but it's something to consider.

m0ssb3rg935 : I looked up the price of drug testing and it's about $38 per drug test on average and can be as high as $50 per test. It would also cost money to process those tests I'm sure because it would take more time and resources from whoever is in charge of it all. Then you got people with fake urine who try to fool the system or find another similar loophole to cheat the system. Unfortunately, a big problem lies at the black market level. There is no way of stopping someone from exchanging food for drugs just like there is no full-proof way of stopping the sale of black market weapons on the streets.

Sure there are people who don't have criminal history and can get away with it. Well, that happens with guns too. They buy guns legally, pass all background checks and then we end up seeing them on the nightly news committing mass murder. Some people can go undetected no matter how many laws or precautions we stack up, both in foodstamp program and with other government laws like gun control.

This discussion reminds me of the show Breaking Bad, no one suspected Walter White was the biggest meth distributor in town although he was not using foodstamp money and selling them for drugs, but just goes to show what can be done under our noses in the black market from someone who seems perfectly normal.

I'd give him a D-.

He has fulfilled some of his promises, but he has whiffed on the majority of them thus far. He's backtracked on tons of things he's said, he's ruined foreign relations with just about everyone, except arguably North Korea and Israel. But all of these things were expected. I shouldn't fail someone for doing just what I expected them to do, it's not really fair.

The reason he gets a D- (which is passing in high school, which doesn't mean s***, and failing in college, which does), is because he hasn't managed to put the world in a state of emergency, and hasn't nuked us into oblivion yet. It's impressive, he's managed to keep us alive for a whole year and a half so far, and he only needs to keep it up for two and a half more.

I didn't vote for him. It's not that I'm anti-conservative. My choices for the election, in order, were: Bernie Sanders, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, literally every other candidate besides Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, and then Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump in a tie.

I had to vote for one of the two evils. Sure, I could have voted third party, but I knew, realistically, that while the vote wouldn't have been "wasted" (EVERY VOTE COUNTS HUR DUR), it wouldn't have really counted for anything, either. I voted for the one that I felt less likely to destroy America, and grit my teeth the entire time.

legacyme3 : I knew when it came down to Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, it really came down to "Evil sack of crap" vs "Evil sack of crap", so basically what it evolved to on November 8th, 2016 is "Pick your sack of crap".

For the whole 3rd Party and people thinks that their votes won't count towards the election, but if these people don't buy into that whole Bi-Partisan BS, we would have had a 3rd Party president right now, and we would have President Gary Johnson right now instead of Donald Trump. Because if you think about it, if you count everyone that only voted Trump because they don't want Hillary and everyone that only voted Hillary because they don't want Trump all put their votes towards Gary Johnson all along his supporters, he would of easily would of won it.

Maybe people need to get out this whole Bi-Parisian trap where both parties only cares about their own party than anyone else. This is why nothing is done, that whole Bi-Parisian trap where each Party have to act like little children towards each other.

I Would like to give my opinion. The Trump Presidency has been a catastrophic failure. He put more billionaires into cabinet positions than all past presidents. Here is the problem, He puts Scott Pruitt as the head of the EPA, which has a mission statement talking about being pro environment, Pruitt while in office in Oklahoma filed more lawsuits against the EPA than any U.S Citizen, all he wanted to do is ease regulations, and hurt the environment. Do you know that Residents in the City of Flint Michigan still don't have clean water to drink. . He puts Betsy De Vos to head the Dept. Of Education, which has a mission statement talking about advancing public education. The De Vos Family has a company that sells curriculum to private schools, and online. She is public enemy #1 when it comes to public education.  He puts Ben Carson, who is a masterful surgeon from what I've read, to head HUD. He has ZERO experience, but he's in charge. When Congress asked what he has done to help end housing discrimination, all he could come up with was "We have filed many lawsuits." As far as North Korea, what did Trump do besides visit the country. He got nothing in writing as far as an agreement towards denuclearization. Please study Our history, the last 4 presidents had talks, meetings, signed deals, with Kim Jong Ill, and North Korea backed out every time. Trump did get 3 Americans prisoners returned, which was great. But I thought it was about ended the nuclear threat. They just backed out of the meetings that were set for yesterday. As far as the economy, he hasn't done anything except give the rich a big tax cut, which they didn't reinvest into their workers like advertised. No the U.S just saw the biggest stock buy backs of all time, which boosted the price per share, making the same people who got the tax break even more money. And he is trying to end the Death Tax, which AGAIN would only help the filthy rich. He also got rid of regulations that were in place so 2008, doesn't happen again, or the Deep Event Horizon. And his immigration policies are Un-American, No Wall, No Big Beautiful Wall that Mexico will pay for "Trust Me", No Muslim Ban, No ripping babies from their mothers arms.
I could go on on on, but like others said before, this thread could spiral out of control. So Ill stop while every thing is still Civil.
I just hope our relationships with our allies isn't beyond repair once he is out of office.

nuggula1 : You have some very good objective complaints right there. It just shows that his best interest is to help the rich get richer. Let's dismantle the EPA and allow businesses to ruin the environment more, just so extremely rich corporations can make even more money! Let's appoint a Secretary of Education whose primary agenda is to push for-profit Christian private schools! As for Ben Carson, I think he's a great guy who has saved many lives with his neurosurgery, but he is not fit for Secretary of the HUD. It's not just about having zero experience (you could say that about half of Trump's cabinet), it's about him just straight up not knowing anything about it. Also, near the end of Obama's presidency he had a lot of emphasis on compromisation, but Trump's presidency has basically been trying to undo every single thing that happened in the last 8 years. He does not try to please both sides, he appeals entirely to the far-right.

As for his economic decisions, that's just standard ultra-conservative stuff. I'm sure that many people believe that "trickle down" economics works, but it seems to me that Trump and Republican congressman are investing in business because it will make them richer. How is giving wealthy people and uber-wealthy corporations supposed to help the working class at all? CEO income has risen 937% from 1978-2013 while worker income has risen a measly 10.2% in the same period (https://www.epi.org/publication/ceo-pay-continues-to-rise/), yet Republicans still continue to give huge tax breaks to the upper class. Eventually it will trickle down, right guys? Eventually the businesses will share their billions in extra dollars with their employees, right guys?

So yeah, I think you summed it up pretty well, I'm just adding onto what you said.

Personally I rate Trump a 3/10. I think he's mostly done a terrible job, but it also seems that he is easily manipulated and pressured by congressman, and he also just has a problem with saying sh*t without considering the consequences.

I don't think there is a number low enough to rate trump on his job performance...he has single handily divided the country, made the highest office in the land a joke on the world stage, not to mention the all the questionable actions him and his administration has done, and the untold damage they are causing for generations to come... I mean I'd rate him a solid 10 for turning the highest office in the land into a way for him and his family to line there own pockets, a 10 for re branding and building the "swamp" and finally a 10 for making a complete idiot of himself and appointing some of the most incompetent people that have ever graced the positions of power in the white house

m0ssb3rg935 : I'm on food stamps, and I use them responsibly. Many people who live in America, need food stamps to feed themselves, or trying to feed their family. You may not know anyone who needs food stamps to survive, but there's plenty out there. And if those dingbat politicians up there alter anything, they're most likely just going to ruin food stamps to the point where it destroys thousands of households in America. It's what they do, because most of them have never known poverty.
If we're talking about tax money. Why the hell do we spend more on our military than next several top counties s combined? You'd think we could afford to feed our poor in the first place. But instead, we're fighting wars in several countries, we don't need to be in. And holding military bases in more places than I could ever remember.
