Like what the title says, what best describes the weather where you normally live at? For me, to sum it all up, in the Summer, we have to face that Humid/Wet Heat where the high temperatures is always in the 90's or 100's Fahrenheit, which some of you, especially ones that live in Dry Heat areas think "Big Deal" but what makes Humid/Wet Heat areas even more foul is the Humidity where it even gets to like 120's Fahrenheit. And to basically sum up here, we have 1/2 months of Winter, 1 month of Spring and Autumn, 8 months of Summer, and 2 1/2 months of "Extreme" Summer. On top of the unbearable heat, you have occasional Thunderstorms here and there and sometime a hurricane. That mostly sums up my location with the weather, what about you? I can totally relate to that humid heat we also have at this side of the Atlantic, but in our case it's more than just that. While the past seasons have been very awkward, with snow between February and April, we rarely get anything that can really be called Winter. Autumn isn't also very prominent, until November comes it still is warm enough to get out with just a jacket. Spring and Summer are the kings over here. Spring can be as hot as summer, we have already faced days nearing 30ºC (some 85ºF), but it's also unstable enough to produce severe rainstorms that can lower the temperature down to 10ºC (50ºF) in less than 24 hours. This constant rollercoaster of temperatures is a pain to deal with, to me it's even worse than the all-powerful Summer. Summer is basically hot and sweaty. It can last from May to September easily, and the high humidity inherent to a coastal city can make the extreme months of July and August almost unbearable for some. Temperatures don't go that high compared to other cities in our same country, but when the humidity kicks in you feel like melting down slowly but steadily. That's basically it: a long lasting Summer that can get extreme the least you expect it, Autumn and Spring can go almost unnoticed, and Winter shouldn't be that chilly. Nope, that doesn't apply to my weather in Kansas at all. You see, Kansas has random weather patterns (even during the summer season). One minute it could be sunny, the next minute it could be stormy and nasty outside (or snowy). Generally speaking, there IS some consistency during the spring and summer season, but sometimes it could be cold here in Kansas during the spring (like it actually WAS 2-3 weeks ago). Now, during the early-late spring, tornadoes occur (obviously, because Kansas is part of "tornado alley" (as some meteorologists call it), though Kansas IS mostly farmland (Wichita's our biggest city/metro), so it's not really a huge problem (and very common) for a tornado to suddenly spawn in Kansas and hit nothing but grass and stuff (most of the time) in Kansas. (Yes, I live in a house where's there's a basement). Yes, we get snow and ice in the winter in Kansas (although Kansas gets really lucky with the lack of snow sometimes). I think we got a trace of snow this year (where I live) and probably SOME ice during this year's winter months and that even extended into early to mid spring (although it was mostly cold). Now, the spring months have the highest possible chance of tornadoes spawning in Kansas (because, like I said, it's part of "tornado alley") and severe weather happening in Kansas (sometimes we have hailstones the size of coffee cups)! Sometimes the spring months in Kansas have lots of rain and sometimes it's a drought spring season in Kansas (and sometimes it's even cold enough to snow)! The summer season in Kansas is generally hot and dry (sometimes hot enough for the temperature to reach 110 degrees Fahrenheit! FORTUNATELY, that's dry heat, not wet heat, but still...that's H-O-T. Normal highs in the summer season where I live are generally around 80 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and spring highs in the summer are generally around 60 degrees Fahrenheit to maybe 80 degrees Fahrenheit (though don't expect it to be consistent, because Kansas weather can change very quickly). The fall season is generally cooler than the summer season in Kansas (with the normal highs generally being 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit (maybe colder)). The winter season in Kansas is generally the coldest season in Kansas (although sometimes we get lucky and get record-breaking highs - like in the low 80's). The winter season isn't THAT bad, because the snow is relatively lax/light most of the time (compared to the Northeast U.S., where snow just falls and falls and falls and keeps going like the Energizer bunny). However, this year, it was C-O-L-D (to the point where the high was 11 degrees Fahrenheit one day and the wind chill was 7 below zero degrees Fahrenheit). The funny thing is, during that day (where I decided to walk outside), the low was 2 below zero degrees Fahrenheit (that was the regular low temperature) and the wind chill that day was 26 below zero degrees Fahrenheit (in the winter season)! (I don't think 2 below zero degrees Fahrenheit's THAT cold; it's certainly bearable). (Yes, I was wearing THREE layers of clothing under my coat, gloves and hat, but 2 below zero's still bearable). Don't get me wrong; 2 below zero's still COLD, but I can still walk in it (with three layers of clothing on). The good thing about Kansas is that it's relatively sparse and there's quite a bit of grassland and stuff and that there's no hurricanes in Kansas (because Kansas is too far north for a direct hit by a hurricane; there's the winds too). Oh yeah, it's actually pretty windy in Kansas (or the Midwest/Plains as some of us call it). |

My weather in my area can be stormy. Despite the hills that surround my area we are tornado and severe weather prone. We sometimes get tornadoes in the spring and fall. We can also be hit a lot with damaging winds. We also flood easy too. normally my area is very wet as we average close to 52 inches of rain per year. We also average 55-60 thunderstorms per year too. |

Stormy or humid. Or both! Miami is pretty unpredictable in terms of it'll be either/or, but at least it's always one of those two. Don't really need to expect anything else like snow, chilly weather, or stuff like that. It sounds boring but it gets pretty comfortable after a while, especially if you've grown up here like I did. |

The weather is always random here because New York. It will rain, it will show, it will be dry for weeks, we'll all be burning or freezing. Never any middle ground here. |

I wouldn't say that any weather I'm used to is terribly abnormal. Nothing like flooding or earthquakes here.
We do get a lot of dust storms/sandstorms here and that's normal. A lot of people like to go outside and look at the heat lightning during the sandstorms but sometimes you gotta wear goggles. It's so prevalent here that on the drivers ed test, there is a question that asks you what you're supposed to do in case you are driving and a sandstorm starts up. It's really silly considering they hardly get bad enough for it to affect your driving, but I digress. We do get a lot of dust storms/sandstorms here and that's normal. Boured : Same here, my area can never decide what it wants to be. Sometimes it's rainy for like 4 days straight, then a day with just sunshine, then more rain the day after. Temperature is pretty weird, too. It can be around 25 degrees for about 2 weeks and then suddenly go up to 70 degrees within the span of a day. Around here, having the weather change drastically (like having it snowing heavily one day but the next it's all sunshine and clear skys) is pretty normal.

Grey clouds with a lot of cold wind and a few drops of rain here and there. Our summers have been getting warmer and sunnier but that still sums up 75% of our year. Our summers have been getting warmer and sunnier but that still sums up 75% of our year. |
