hello world! ★ i have something fun to share from my ventures.
my bandmates and i spent the weekend in binghamton, NY. we played a house show friday night, and spent the next day exploring the town. there were a lot of family owned businesses and diners, thrift stores and record shops. but what stuck out to me and my bandmates the most was this incredible arcade/video games store...
robot city is an AMAZING arcade and video game hardware/software shopped. as i walked in, i was greeted by a chock-full of collectibles, the ones i saw that caught my eye were numerous atari consoles, a couple of dreamcasts, some SNESs and NESs, just about everything! i own an odyssey² (1978 console), and the amount of cartridges they had for that system were endless.
behind the store is a complete arcade, containing 122 arcade games and 29 pinball machines. i spent my time playing galaga since its one of my absolute favorite retro games, they also had classics such as pac-man, frogger, crystal castles, q*bert, space invaders, and many other games. heres their photo gallery if you wanna take a peek at what they got, as well as a full list of their games available here if you're curious.
as their website says, they're known for being one of the largest existing arcades in new york state. people working there were very fridnly and helpful, helping us make change for tokens. they also offer a variety of snacks upon entering the arcade. its very traditional, you put your tokens in a cup, run up to your favorite game, and keep post there until you've exhausted all your tokens and energy into attempting to beat a high score.
END-O-THREAD Q
what are some local arcade stores that you've been to around your area, or that you used to go to? post your experiences and memories below!
