Call of Duty: Black Ops
02-17-14 01:47 PM
Impressive For a DS FPS...
Call of Duty Black Ops for the Nintendo DS beats all of the other Call of Duty games on the DS by over 9000 times. A real treat.
Graphics: 10
This game's graphics is very nice and a real visual treat. I would have expected this game to have mediocre graphics because of how limited the DS could handle 3D graphics but the developers really did push the limit of the DS. And what ended up was probably the best FPS on the DS. For instance, the people in this game actually look like real men. You can see their faces clearly. When a grenade goes boom, the explosion effects are really realistic. Compared to World at War on the DS, the people look like polygons. Their faces are flat and blurry. The explosion effects from a grenade are very pixelated. I wish I had a picture to show you the comparison. The only downside is that it can lag a lot sometimes during heavy combat, and in rare cases, crash your game and your DS.
Sound and Music: 9
The sound effects are pretty normal. It's what you would hear when you fire a real gun. The death sounds are identical to World at War, and the different languages that enemies speak as they fight make sense. For example, when you are breaching a Cuban church, you can hear someone saying, "Vamos! Vamos! Vamos!" which means, "Go! Go! Go!"
The music is where this game's sound really shines. The soundtrack is very epic and catchy; such as when you are escaping Afghanistan in a truck and a helicopter tries to blow you up. The string instruments play an uneasy song while the drums are so fast that it makes your heart beat faster and faster until it's finaly over.
Addictiveness and Depth: 8
This game can get quite addictive because of how fun the missions are. There are a total of 15 missions with each one being very unique. You could be escaping a prison in Mission 2, or flying a fighter jet in Mission 12, or assassinating a foe in Mission 7. Apart from the missions you've got a campaign mode, an arcade mode (with poi... Read the rest of this Review
Wii Sports Resort

Best. Game. Ever.
Wii Sports Resort is a masterpiece that throws repeated waves of fun at you and other people around you.Its exciting games, beautiful colors, and fluent control really make this one great classic for the Wii and will always be remembered.

Graphics: 8
The 3D models in the game are very colorful and realistic, however some models such as the Miis could've been done better. Most people would like to see their characters have arms and legs all the times instead of sometimes because it can feel weird to be floating as a blob with a head and floating spheres as hands. But, for the most part, the graphics are beautiful and very detailed, for example, the sea is colored quite nicely and does not appear to be pixelated or very bland. Another great example are the cabins that you find when flying around the island. If you can get close enough, you can clearly identify that they are made of wood because of their textures and because you can find gaps that separate the wall into individual planks. The ducks on the pond look very cute and adorable, like you want to play with them. I would say the same for the dogs, too.Overall, the graphics are mostly well-done, they show the true graphical capabilities if the Nintendo Wii.

Sound: 10
The music track in this video game is very catchy and nice and suits the word "Resort" perfectly. Just by listening to the music, you can get the sense that you are on a tropical island, lying on a beach while feeling the waves hit your feet. The music is extremely enjoyable, and it makes you feel happy and gives you a sense of joy. Especially the hidden music in this game; for instance, when you are near the Cabana Lagoon, if you cut off the engine, you can hear someone in the lagoon playing a guitar version of the title screen theme.

The sound effects are very realistic, such as the noise of splashing water you hear when you are canoeing, the sound of your sword slicing through a fruit, a candle or even a m... Read the rest of this Review
Mortal Kombat
06-09-13 12:29 PM
GET OVER HERE!!!
The first time I heard about Mortal Kombat was when I was in a Video Game Museum.
I saw the Nintendo 64, the Sega Saturn, the GameBoy family and many more.
When I looked at the Super Nintendo, there was a lot of cartridges beside it.
I saw Mortal Kombat in that pile. I got curious so I searched it and found this game.
Graphics: 9
The graphics are really decent and are superior compared to the Mega Drive (Genesis) version.
The developers used more complex colors on all of the sprites than in the Mega Drive version because the SNES had a bigger color palette.
So, in a nutshell, the graphics are great.
Sound: 10
The sound and music are very clear and FAR superior than the Genesis.
The music sounds like actual music that you can play on an actual instrument rather than 8-bit music or computer generated music.
The voices are also very clear.
In the Mega Drive version, when Scorpion would say: "GET OVER HERE!" it sounds like the voice was amplified to much and you would hear some static. It's kind of like if you heard Scorpion say that from a radio with a damaged antenna.
In the Super Nintendo one, the quality of the sound is much better.
Addictiveness and Depth: 7
The replayablility value is lower because there's just not much to do.
All you do is fight, fight, fight.
There's a two-player mode where you fight each other to the death or for fun or to see who's better.
There's also no blood.
Although it's kind of minor; you need at least some blood to give you the true feeling of beating someone up.
They should've had an option or a code that you had to put in like in the Genesis version.
There are 7 characters to play as and each one is unique.
They all look cool, too.
Cage has sun glasses, Sub-Zero has a neat costume and Rayden has a bunch of rays around him.
You basically fight many characters until you fight Goro and finally, the Mortal Kombat Master (not for long, though), ... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Sports Mix
05-19-13 02:24 PM
Mario Sports... Yay!
Mario Sports Mix is one of the best games I have for the Wii.
It all started when one of my best friends gave me this game for my birthday.
I played it all night long. It was amazing.
Graphics: 10
The graphics of this game are excellent. The sprites are colorful, the locations are well-planned and detailed.
I give this a 10.
Sound and Music: 10
The music is amazing and very enjoyable.
There's different music in every location and it always fits.
If you're playing on Koopa Troopa Beach, the music sounds very tropical.
If you're on Bowser Jr. Boulevard, the music just makes you want to dance.
If you're sailing on the Star Ship, the music fits the epicness.
Addictiveness and Depth: 9
This game can be as addicting as Indiana Jones the Original Adventures because of the variety of characters and locations to choose from, how fun the gameplay is, and the multiplayer option.
The developers also decided to include some extra characters such as Cactuar and Black Mage.
That's pretty cool.
You can have up to four players, too! So, find three friends and play.
There are four sports to choose from. They are: Basketball, Hockey, Volleyball, and Dodgeball.
Each one is very fun to play.
You can also enter in a tournament and compete to obtain the Mushroom Cup, the Flower Cup, and the Star Cup for each sport.
Once you are at the finals for the Star Cup, there's going to be a little surprise.
I don't want to spoil it so, to make it clear,
I'M NOT TELLING YOU!
Anyways, once you got all of the cups, there's a boss to fight.
Hint: From Final Fantasy
I'm still not telling you who it is.
Once you finish all of the cups, you will unlock a feature called Sports Mix.
It's quite obvious what Sports Mix is, so I don't have to explain it.
There's also a Party Mode where players compete or cooperate in four mini-games. It's really fun.
Not to mention you can play as your own... Read the rest of this Review
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
05-18-13 12:15 PM
Lego Indiana Jones
For my first video game review in the Video Game Room, I'll be reviewing Lego Indiana Jones the Original Adventures.
This is an example of how the toy, Lego, became so popular that it licensed characters from movies and eventually, created video games.
This game was made before the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, so it didn't include it yet.
Now, let's get started!
Graphics: 9
The graphics of the game are very good for the Nintendo Wii, and they show neat textures and details.
For example, the color and texture of sand in the desert s very similar to actual sand.
It's just too bad that there aren't any screenshots to show it.
The graphics are also very superior and show the Wii's true capability.
Sound and Music: 10
The sound effects are very good and clear. It just fells right when you punch someone.
Gunfire sounds realistic, characters grunt when doing tiring tasks, and not to mention how good the music is!
Actually, the music isn't good at all, it's EXCELLENT!
They take the music straight from the movies, and sometimes even create their own music.
Whether you're in a jungle riding elephants like in Temple of Doom, in Egypt escaping Nazis, or just want to hang around, the music always fits.
At one point, you're building things in a peaceful area and then the next thing you know, the music changes when some bad guys start to attack you.
It's like in Pokemon Rumble for the Wii, when the music changes when you encounter foes in areas.
Addictiveness and Depth: 9
The game is even more addicting than your favorite ice cream flavor.
It's so fun! There are lots of interesting elements introduced in each level.
There is also a free play option that is unlocked after you complete a level.
With free play, you can take control as other characters instead of using the default characters.
This game even lets you have a second player!
So, you and your friend can either cooperate, or just k... Read the rest of this Review

Sims 2, The

Buried By The Mob
Once you select the episode, you will be in your house.
There will be a knock at the door. That's Jimmy "the" Neck.
Go outside and talk to that guy. After that, have an intimidating conversation.
The "annoy" (The panel with a picture of a fly) move seems to be the most accurate. So use annoy many times.
After that, Jim has had enough and lets you go. He'll ask you if you could help find the briefcase that he buried. (Jim has the worst memory in the world)
The only thing he remembers is that he went to the Saloon.
When Jimmy was in the Saloon he had the briefcase with him.
But when he stopped by the Pawn Shop, it was gone. (See how horrible his memory is?)
So, the first thing you should do is investigate the Saloon and the Pawn Shop for clues.
In the Pawn Shop, enter the door beside the guy selling stuff. You'll find a pile of sand upstairs.
Then, head to the Saloon. If you talk to Dusty Hogg, he'll tell you that his freezer is broken.
If you want to get your ratings very high, one requirement is that you have to fix the freezer. Unless you don't want to do it.
Head to the desert and talk to this guy on a boat that ran ashore. He'll sell you books.
Buy the mechanical book and use it. Then, head back to the Saloon and fix the freezer.
The freezer is in a room really close to Dusty. So go in the room and fix it. Talk to him again. He thanks you with a great reward: Nothing!
Now you've completed the hidden want. After that, walk to the west corner of the Saloon. You'll find another pile of sand.
A message will pop up saying that the pile of sand contains a bit of red paint and glass from a headlight. Remember that.
Now, head to Frankie Fusilli's house. It's really close to your house.
Talk to him. He'll say that if you cheer Ara Fusilli up, Mr. Fusilli will tell you something.
Go near the Snake-Eyes Casino. Ara will be close to the building. Make friends with her.
Once you're don... Read the rest of this Guide

How to get past Flight Area 1 without doing much
Here's an easy way to get past the Light Plane challenge in Flight Area 1.
All you need are:
Quick Reflexes
Some Luck
Once you start flying, immediately put the power to 57. Your plane will begin descending slowly.
Now, to make sure you did it correctly, your plane should hit the second last beam just before landing.
If it hits the third last beam, you may need to lift the nose up a little.
If you hit any beam before the third last one, your plane will crash before the runway.
There's also a chance that you might overshoot the runway.
If that happens, cut all of the power.
This doesn't happen all the time, but it does most of the time.
It's so simple to perform that you can eat while you wait for the plane to land.
The score that you might get are between 70-90. Sometimes over 90.
Well, that's all I have to say!

Golden Sun Battle Strategy Guide
If you have trouble with battling, this can help you.

Tip #1 Using Psynergy Wisely

If you get hurt during battle, remember that you always have items that can cure you, like herbs, nuts, vials, potions, etc...
If you use items to cure allies, then you can save your Psynergy for other uses.
Only use Psynergy if you are seriously hurt. (Like Potent Cure and Ply Well)

Tip #2 Djinn

Unleashing Djinn can inflict more damage than Psynergy.
So, try to find all of them! You won't regret it!
Djinn can attack, defend, cure, revive, and do lots more!!!
The more Djinn you have, the more powerful you are.

Tip #3 Special Weapons

You can find special weapons in chests.
If you equip them, your character will now be able to do a special attack at a random moment if you select "attack"
For example, the Bandit's Sword (You obtain by defeating the gang of thieves) can unleash a special attack called "rapid slash", I think.
So, you should try to open all of the chests in each area.

Tip #4 Item Storage

You should always have many herbs, elixirs, and antidotes in stock because you will never know when your healer is down or if you get poisoned, fall asleep, or get delusional.
You should also keep rare items like Water of Life or Psy Crystals because those are important.
Spread your items around the party. You can't just have your preferred character have everything!

Tip #5 Rest Well and Save Game Before Fighting a Boss

Before fighting someone tough, you should sleep at the nearest inn and save your game right before the boss fight.

Tip #6 Preparation for the Final Boss

IMPORTANT!: Before fighting the final boss (Which is really tough, by the way...)  Complete this checklist:

1. Make sure you have full HP and PP

2. Set all the party's Djinn so they become usable

3. Make sure you're completely satisf... Read the rest of this Guide
