Batman - Chaos in Gotham I went into this expecting something mediocre, and this is surprisingly fun. Addicting too!
No Rules - Get Phat This game is hard. With unfair hitboxes, DDR style boss battle. This is one of the few games on the GBA that has charm, but does nothing with it. I am sad to say I actually owned this one at some point.
SpongeBob SquarePants - SuperSponge My Aunt gave me this game a long time ago. She and her husband loved Spongebob at the time and gave me this game. Since then, I have had a soft spot for this game as this was the only game I was able to beat at the time :P
Odell Lake I played this while in school forever ago. This is a common edutainment game that is played. I was terrible at it, but of course, it brings back the memories. Funny how that works!
Super Banjo-Kazooie 64 (beta) This is a great concept. Great for nostalgia or idle curiosity about a potential crossover. But kudos to the maker for making the camera for both games 10x more frustrating. Love the remixes!
My Little Pony - Crystal Princess - The Runaway Rainbow I played this for a April Fools Day joke on my friend! I recorded it sober! This is nothing compared to Gen 4, but the game was too easy. See kids, you don't have to be drunk to play games like this! It helps, but real men don't :D
Foster\'s Home for Imaginary Friends I came into this expecting a boring game, but I can easily see myself playing this game. I used to watch this show. I haven't watched ALOT of it, but some of it was enjoyable.
Battle Kid - Fortress of Peril Arin/Egorapter had his infamous rage breakdown on this game. I don't think I want to play a game like that as i have bad issues with rage. But it's pretty awesome... Games like this, just abuse save states
Dexter\'s Laboratory - Deesaster Strikes! This is such a good game. With catchy songs, catchy voice clips, engaging platforming, this is the best game based on this show. 10 years later and I can finally finish it

Doom 64

Doomed 64 Review
{The Doom 64 EX source port was used for this review. This is a PC port modernizing the game from its original version and has been formatted to fix the original and make it easier to control and play. It is an accurate PC port and thus it was used when making this review}

Doom 64 follows the events of Final Doom (which at the time of this review, I still need to play) and tries for a horror based environment. Music, sounds, atmosphere, and colors combine for a scary time. At the time of its release, it was the odd ball out compared to the science fiction and vaguely unsettling setting of the original series.

Fast forward to Source ports and modded games and people discovered its hidden potential and atmosphere often comparing it and preferring it over Doom 3 (another game that has taken me three years to get through and I still need to finish it. I just have so much to play)

Now this wasn't the first attempt at a scary Doom, as the Playstation port of Doom had a darker atmosphere and soundtrack, but Doom 64 wasn't a port. It's an original Doom game so to speak. I had this on the N64 in 2006-2008 and played through half of it. Amusingly enough, despite being quite terrifying, I didn't remember any part of where I left off except vague feelings of familiarity.

Playing this EX version made me appreciate this game for the experience it was. Some of the game is terrifying and unsettling and nothing whatsoever happens.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: There are new sprites for this game. The game, for the N64 look amazing and everything, even the med packs it seems are bigger than you. They went for the desolate, abandoned, and something is watching you moods and they succeeded.

Sound: The soundtrack to this game is pretty darn eerie. It can at times unsettle. It isn't catchy like the original game can at times... Read the rest of this Review
Duke Nukem 64

Duke Nukem 64 Review
{This review was written using the Duke 64 Total Conversion mod for the PC. This is a 100% completely faithful recreation of the original version outside of using WSAD/Mouse and the ability to Quick Save/Load. The usual eDuke engine quirks exist as well, but outside of these things, it faithfully recreates the N64 experience}

This was a version of the game that I never had when I originally owned a N64. I had Doom 64, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, South Park and Conker's Bad Fur Day (among other games) but I didn't hear of Duke Nukem till Duke Nukem Advance. My first full Duke game though was Duke Forever Nukem. I always heard about this game and how it censors the heavily sexual and religious themes in the game, and I never liked that. Still though, I was always curious on playing the game despite this.

This review is here to explain my intial reaction to the game and why it was better than I originally thought.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: The graphics have been slightly updated. Strippers have been clothed so that they probably won't catch a cold, enemies have been slightly redone to look menacing, and the weapons have been redesigned or replaced. I honestly like the updated look. I wish we had these designs for the original PC version. These are some of my favorite redesigns. Levels, either out of censorship or because of reasons, have been changed around slightly and dark areas have been touched upon to actually BE dark. I actually had to use my Night Vision goggles at some point to avoid ambushes.

Sounds: Because of the cartridge space, music has been taken away (if you are using the mod, you can enable music) but as far as I know it's the same sounds, grunts, and groans of dying enemies. Since I played Duke Nukem Advance, having no tunes of the admittedly awesome Duke Soundtrack (Outside of the Start Screen) is a ... Read the rest of this Review

A Well Timed Review
It was perhaps destiny that I picked up a copy of this game for the 360 back when I had an Xbox 360. I played it, perhaps intrigued by the cool concept of slowing down time to shoot enemies. I quickly immersed myself into this wonderful game quickly and beat it within three days. I then quickly went through the game and hunted for achievements. As I played through the game many times in a row, I learned everything there was to know on how to play the game.

I sold the game before I could attempt hard mode and for quite some time moved on. Eventually I would learn that a PC version came out, but it was during a time when I didn't have the proper graphics card to run it. I was upset that my computer didn't have Nvidia.

So fast forward to 2017 and I finally have a computer that can run this game properly. Not a lot of critics like this game. It got average to mixed scores and some reviews on Steam don't like it. I however like this game. I don't even know why I like it. Every time I play this game, I get very into it. Like I said before, I know my way around this game to the point I know of every ambush point, and strategy to fight the various enemies.

So what is Timeshift? Timeshift is a game with a very confusing story. By which I mean, it reveals it in fragments and in hard to understand doses. From what I can piece together thanks to the summery and various other sources, this guy named Krone uses a suit to travel back into time and takes over the world while a nameless scientist or some such travels back as well to stop him.

Your suit is capable of stopping, reversing, and speeding up time and you must use the proper setting to get by puzzles, shoot enemies, and various other time related mishaps. This means you can literally stop time, steal a nameless solder's gun and resume time awaiting the joy and wonder that comes from watching them freak out. Or you can just shoot them with time stop, resume, and deal with them ... Read the rest of this Review

Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions Review
I don't really remember how I heard of this remake of one of my favorite games ever. Nowadays, it seemed to have randomly spawned into my head. I think I was browsing Gamefaqs randomly for Superstar Saga guides and I saw Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions on the results page. I remember freaking out. This was my favorite game as I made mention of in the previous review of the original. I think they did a great job with this remake. Really, it's more an enhanced port. Graphics, Music, Boss HP, and some other small differences have been updated to fit in line with later games in the series, but the plotline remains largely the same. It isn't quite as easily broken either.

This includes word for word dialogue for the most part. The only thing that didn't appear in the original was the small story prompt telling of a strange Goomba with a flag on his head running South in Beanbean Fields. This is here to tell you to check out Bowser's Minions for the explanation of why a Goomba is running around. The game is in 2D despite being a 3DS game but in my humble opinion, it didn't need 3D, and it brought back memories on why the original really is a great game. The GBA version didn't have 3D, so it's a glorified GBA game.

I will be reviewing this game and telling you why I think you should check it out (if you have a 3DS) as well as Bowser's Minion mode and informing you of the accomplishments I had during the game. This serves no purpose though. I just wanted to brag :P
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: With a 3D engine, the graphics are obviously improved. Bowser towers over Mario and the size difference is notable. I personally like the improvements to the graphics. While I hold favor over the GBA version, I really like how they made everything "pop" more. The level design has been improved. While it remains the same, they added some decorations where ... Dementium II

A Second Demented Review
At the time that this game came out, which was 2010, I had no idea it existed. I mean, technically I knew it existed but I had already lost my original DS at the time and had no way of playing it. I wouldn't play it on the DS till 2017, which was this year actually! But I had watched a video of it once I heard about it, so I was already familiar with it. I like Dementium II a lot better than the first game. It has a story focus this time even if it is the same learn bits and pieces as time goes on. The notes you find relate directly to the story and more cutscenes happen. It has it's problems, but not enough for me to lower my score. It's hardly a perfect game by any means, but it's a lot of fun.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: They improved the graphics a fair deal this time for the sequel. It has a better 3D engine. I say, as if I have a clue about this sort of thing, but things really do look improved. With better graphics, its already a better game than the original.

Sound: It has the same soundtrack of similar tunes, but atmospheric and eerie. Nothing to write home about by any means, but still a better soundtrack than the PC version. At least this one has music, not just atmosphere! Not that there is anything wrong with atmosphere.

Addictiveness: Same as the first game. Some people might play this game once, sell it, and never play it again. I am not one of these people. When I had it on the 3DS (technically it's still a DS game) I played through it 7 times! There are difficulty levels this time and there are a ton of self imposed challenges for you to see if you can beat the game as quickly as possible. This doesn't seem like a lot of fun, but this game has kept me busy that long, so if you are the kind to repeat your games every now and then, this might be for you!

Story: This game picks up directly (Sorta) where the previou... Read the rest of this Review
Dementium The Ward

A Demented Review
Dementium is one of the rare few Survival Horror games that the DS had. It isn't very scary but it has the traditional spooky vibe. It's comparable to Silent Hill and other psychologically spooky games of the genre. I originally had this on the original DS model before playing it on the 3DS. By this I mean both this original game and the remastered version from the 3DS store. The remastered version is another review though. So let's get started!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: The graphics are nothing that will win awards but they are crisp and clear and make 10x better use of the systems capabilities than the GBA did. While the GBA had some good first person shooter games, most of them were still rather pixally when viewing objects close up and Dementium is in 3D (for the system.. it still doesn't even come close to the 3DS) It makes usage of darkness effects, lighting and other spooky things to great effect. It may not be your cup of tea, but if you like the genre, it will interest you.

Sounds: This has a minimalist soundtrack with the same sounding piano tune, but it fits the mood, and it doesn't detract from the experience at all. Monster's make noises if you are close and it has a hopeless feel to it. The soundtrack adds very well it just doesn't have variety.

Addictiveness: This is one of those games you play once and leave alone. However if you are me and can repeat games every now and then I can easily see myself playing constantly. If you like the game, then you can repeat it and try to challenge yourself to beat it quicker. It offers enough to keep you invested! Whether or not you are as crazy as I am and play it repeatedly is up to you. It isn't a bad game by any means.

Story: This is one of those games with a very minimal story. William Redmoor (you find out his name in the collectible notes) is lost in the mental hospi... Read the rest of this Review
Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga

Mario and Luigi: A Superstar Review
Mario and Luigi! These are a very special series of Mario RPGs that simply put are my favorites. My friend back when this game came out for the first time decided it would be a great idea to give me this game for my birthday. He had it too and this is one of the very few times in my life where I would compete with someone on playing a game. We compared progress, enemies strategies, and borderline played this game together. I fell in love with this game and later the series. But I will always hold a special place in my heart for this game. Everything about this game rocks. The controls, the graphics, the story, and especially the humor. This game has a lot of slapstick humor (mostly on Luigi's side, but Mario has it occasionally)

This game is quite possibly my favorite GBA game in the Mario series. I was never good at the platformers so I never really considered them Mario games even though obviously they are the pinnacle of Mario. I was much more at home with the RPG Mario's rather than the standard Mario gameplay. Everything in this game shines. The fact it gave Mario's oft neglected brother Luigi his chance to shine is mostly what makes it flawless. As a hardcore Luigi fan and enthusiast, this game hits all the right buttons for me. This game introduced a whacky, insane, and downright fun villain in Fawful. I don't think there were a lot of villains quite like him.

But I am getting ahead of myself, I am here to review this game, not to fanboy the living daylights out of the game. Or... not, maybe I will do both. When in doubt always do both options!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: The GBA was known for some games to be very cartoony, and this game is no exception. The worlds are bright, the characters realized in their cartoon glory. This is just a really good game with really good graphics.

Music: The soundtrack is very good. I l... Read the rest of this Review

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Review
Unlike Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance I never really played this game on the actual console itself. I did play a little bit of the emulated version off of Vizzed a long time ago, but for the most part, my playthrough and time with this game was blind. I played it last and boy was it an experience. I didn't make the mistake of saying it's not as good as the others (even though that technically is true) cause I did play it last, coming from the much simpler games on the Gameboy Advance. This wasn't a bad game and it was quite fun despite being a little harder.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: This has slightly compressed graphics. It isn't as polished or smooth as Aria of Sorrow but areas are quite bleak and atmospheric. Since this is the first Castlevania for GBA (if one doesn't count the GBA port of the original game) so they probably didn't get some things right. I can still tell what things are and it still looks good.

Sounds: This has in my opinion the best soundtrack of the portable games. I personally like the Machine Tower song this game has. It's an annoying area and this version of the Clock Tower levels that Castlevania is known for, and I like a few other tunes.

Addictiveness: This game was quite a challenge compared to the others, but I wanted to play further. I personally stuck through with it, but it is different. If you play it last like I did, it could be very jarring. Despite this, I stuck through with it, and it was very addictive. I just had to collect every last Card in the DSS system (more on that later) and fill out my map just like I did in the others. It will be a while till I play the game again (at least from the beginning) but I will try some of the other modes that unlock once beating the game.

Story: Having played this game last, I can compare this game slightly to Harmony of Dissonance. I ... Read the rest of this Review
Castlevania Double Pack

Castlevania: A Double Review
Ah, Castlevania on the GBA. I have a very special place for this game in my heart. I didn't grow up with Castlevania as I never had a NES or anything, but I did own both of these games actually. Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance. Never this collection, but independently. I had Aria of Sorrow and beat that, and then a few weeks later I got Harmony of Dissonance. HOD is a little easier than Aria of Sorrow but both games in this package are easily some of my favorite Castlevania games. Because this is a double package I will have two reviews here and then finally my final thoughts on this package and why these are great games.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Aria of Sorrow

This is easily my favorite GBA Castlevania game. It was what I played first of all the handheld games and while at the time of my original playthrough of it, I did rather poorly, I later came back to it (the version on Vizzed) and had what is often considered my best playthrough ever.

Graphics: This has some great graphics for a Gameboy game and has a cartoonish and gothic aesthetic to it that was really cool. It is a bit bloody which is why it's T, but it has very good graphics. The animations are fluid, and I can easily tell what something is.

Sound: I love the soundtrack for this game and I was never one to care about sound. To me, music makes the game great, not sound. But the tunes fit what is happening, at least to me they do.

Addictiveness: I played this game three times throughout my life. Once in real life, and the other two on emulator. I can easily see myself play again (albeit on a New Game +.. see below on why) in a few months.

Depth: Not counting the fact that this specific game is a 2 in one, this is a very decent length campaign. There are tons of stuff for you to do. To tell what are slight spoilers but the soul mechanic is... Read the rest of this Review
Tim Burton\'s The Nightmare Before Christmas - The Pumpkin King

A Nightmare Before Christmas Review
I saw Nightmare Before Christmas when I was a very little kid. I remember falling in love with it even though some things went over my head and various things were scary or confusing. I think everyone everywhere at least knows of this movie (not to be confused with Nightmare on Elm Street. That's something...else!

I actually had this on the GBA a lot time ago, around 2006-2007, and played it at school when I was supposed to work on other things or even before class started. It's built up to be a prequel to the movie explaining just how Oogie Boogie King of all Bugs and Jack, King of all Pumpkins met and hate one another in the movie.

It also explains how Jack and Sally (living doll) met one another. Turns out, Sally was a damsel in distress (though it was an accident...more on that later or something) and she needed to be rescued.

This game means so much to me as anything related to Nightmare Before Christmas does, and I am here to explain to you why this isn't just a blatant cash grab the likes of all movie licensed games tend to be.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: The game has a very charming, cartoony nature (not stop motion like the movie, but that's another thing altogether) and do their job. Things look about the same from the movie just smaller. If you saw the movie recently or remember it, you can tell where you are for the really iconic moments. One boss fills the entire screen too! There is not "What is that" syndrome in effect here.

Sound: The Sound isn't enough to write to the Academy of the Arts on or anything, but it does contain remixes of several classic songs from the game. Sadly the best song in the movie (and arguably most famous one at that) is used as the power up theme of sorts. You only hear it four or five seconds at most. Which is sad. Every time Jack jumps or canoodles about, a Sonic type ... Read the rest of this Review
Duke Nukem Forever
03-24-17 02:25 PM
Hail to the King!!!
First off, this is going to be a somewhat controversial review as I am the small majority who legitimately like the game. I am very much aware how much this game is hated amongst the Duke fandom for not living up to the hype it was built upon. But, I never really grew up with these games, my parents were the sort of parents to limit what I played to E's and T's, and I thus wasn't able to play 3D back in the day.

I wouldn't even say I had experience with the Duke until I played DN Advance on the GBA when I was 16 years old. So Forever was the first experience I had with him fully for quite awhile. But I didn't even play it at first. I saw a video of it and I was instantly hooked. I was laughing and in awe at the graphics at the time. Of course, once I got the 360 version I was stunned at the drop in quality I had seen and realized later that the game I saw was the PC version. That sure did explain it!

The PC version is the greatest possible copy you can get and I have the Steam version. In the Steam version (or just the PC version, it probably doesn't matter) you get four weapons instead of the console's two (so already off to a great start) and the graphics are an improvement.

I find myself very easygoing. I don't like to see the negatives and the game is very fun if you give it a chance. Here is my review of this game and some memories I had playing it. I am pretty much in the small majority of fans of this game. I can see why, but I just don't really under stand it. It's Duke Nukem after all!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: To me they are pretty great. The graphics on the PC version are outstanding and remind me of the time I saw the longplay ages and ages ago. They aren't bad by any means. The woman in the main campaign might not be very attractive and an excuse to show nudity, but ignoring them, the graphics are quite well done.

Scooby-Doo! - Mystery Mayhem

Scooby Dooby Doo!!!
Most GBA games based on TV Shows, Movies, or whatever Pop Culture out there are usually known for not being the best out there. Maybe they water down the experience or take out important stuff, or cash grab propaganda. I never played the console version of this game, I played this one. I was taken aback by how enjoyable this game was for me. I played other Scooby games and they were just too hard for my childlike mind to handle.

Not this one though. I was able to beat it quite easily, and enjoyed the journey. Other people might not give this a favorable score but for me personally, it was a very enjoyable if slightly frustrating at times experience. Later in life, I found out that there were console versions and I don't have knowledge of them. I am sure they are superior, but let's focus on the handhold version.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: I am fond of the graphics. They are cute. Others might say they are too pixelly or compressed, but I myself thought they did a good job in the graphics department. For me there is no case of "What Am I Looking at" syndrome or any case of suspending disbelief at what I am looking at.

Sound: They made the esthetic a valid Scooby experience, including a heavily compressed, short laugh track. For a handheld that's amazing. Music blurs in the background and is only really annoying if you get lost or stuck on where to go or what to do. If you know precisely where you are or what to do then it sorta relaxes you and makes fantastic white noise.

Addictiveness: I played this game a lot. For me, there is a lot to come back to. Where one sees a once and done sorta experience, I can come back to it. But this is just cause I played Resident Evil 4 17 times. For me, there is no such thing as once and done. Give me a few months and I can replay anything.

Story: The gang travel to various places, expecting... Read the rest of this Review
Tom & Jerry - Mouse Hunt

Mouse Trap
I actually played this forever and a few years ago! Tom and Jerry remains one of the best cartoons of all time. This is second only to Scooby Doo! This game isn't the best looking game of all time, but it was my childhood and that is all that matters. It could be a horrible game otherwise and if I played it to death, it's automatically the best game ever. That's how that works. I think?

I remember countless hours spent playing it and I am here to tell you why you should consider playing it even if it isn't all that thrilling.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: For a Gameboy Color game, the graphics are easily distinguishable. Gone is that feeling you get playing the system that I call "What is that?" syndrome! If I look at a random object on the floor in game, I can tell without a doubt what it is. So decent graphics overall! Which is great considering how old it is and how old I feel now all of a sudden!

Sound: The music isn't the greatest and is typical bloops and bleeps of the system. This game isn't the greatest, but it has the familiar tunes of the Gameboy Color and if you somehow like that, you will love this title.

Additiveness: This game has a habit of ensnaring you with "Just one more time" mentality. This can be both a good AND a bad thing as maybe you are trying to sleep and you just want one more stupid mouse over whoever is the opposite of your player avatar (boy, I really said that) If you play as Jerry, you want to save the mice, and if you play as Tom, you are trying to steal them, to I dunno, have a friend or something. Jerry was the worst friend imaginable so maybe Tom wants to kidnap a bunch of mice for friendship or something... but it's very addicting no matter who you play as and it falls under "Just one more time" or "Maybe I can do better/worse"

Story: Doesn't exist. There is no story. Like I said above the obj... Read the rest of this Review

An underrated Gem
Critics weren't kind to this game. I can find some agreement with them for this one. It's repetitive for one and haphazard difficulty spikes for some bosses and areas (especially the final challenge which completely changes gameplay and turns it to a bullet hell) but you know, I actually liked it. When I played it on the actual GBA, it was a time I was still in school. At the time, it wasn't a very GOOD memory :P (you know, school and all) but looking back, I was happy. This game appeals to me on a psychological level it being a fantasy adventure game and it was pretty darn cool at the time. I am easily able to look over it's faults and play the game for what it is.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: Game has both mediocre and great graphics depending on what is shown. Some enviroments and especially cutscenes look fantastic and others look kind of drab. It's a mix of both equally. One area might have fantastic looking scenes and yet, the character has a pixally face robbing him of any features. Some cutscenes and the sprite work as a dialogue box look fantastic and some enemies look cool, but some of it isn't.

Music and Sound: Some of it is white noise and unlike the last game I criticized for white noise, this music can help one concentrate. Boss music especially shines and some of the more industrial parts of the game shine. This game's white noise soundtrack can make a fantastic back drop to help you play. Yes, I know how weird that sounds. I can't just ignore the soundtrack to a game otherwise it's just weird.

Addictiveness: I am able to focus on the game despite some difficulty spikes (some bosses are annoying and frustrating) and poor level planning and how severely repetitive this game can get. But that's just me. I loved the game's story and despite some difficulty and frustration, I can get through it. Plus I just have a thing for dragons ... Read the rest of this Review

A sad attempt at a South Park game
I used to love South Park. Actually I still do. I would just rather play video games than watch it. Once I played Stick of Truth, I got back into it for a short period of time. But this review isn't about Stick of Truth. That would be silly to review a game much superior to the one you are supposed to review, is it not?

This game isn't the best. It was probably created around the time of the first couple of seasons back when the show was accustomed to shock value rather than the satire it is known for today. But just why is the next review I do for a game for a game that is mediocre at best? I have no idea. I can't control these urges to review random games I played. Guess it's because I have a lot to say about this particular one. Who knows. Let's get started with the review!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: Graphics aren't the worst. They aren't the best and the uninitiated or the gamers that play it for the first time might reel back in shocked outrage at the slightly awkward nature of the 3D graphics. They are superior to the Playstation version though so that's a comfort, I think. I happen to consider them decent at best. They won't make your eyes bleed, and they have that South Park charm, but there is just something that is off. I don't know what that is.

Sounds: The music is annoying! It's white noise and forgettable. Great to lose yourself into if you are like me and have to have game sound on. It won't bleed your ears or anything, but the music is just forgetable and boring. Characters sound like who they are supposed to but sound slightly muffled. And no, I am not just referring to Kenny. The voices sound compressed and this adds to the game's many annoyances.

Addictiveness: I tried to give this game a chance when I had it ages ago on my very old N64 (now covered in cat throw up and lost to the not really caring department...... Read the rest of this Review
Nightmare Ned

Spooky Nightmares
Ah, here we go, the ultimate childhood game! This game, for the time it was made is very violent. Especially considering it's a kid game, let alone a Disney game from back in the day. No it's not M rated violence, but considering it's a kid game, it's very violent. Ned can literally get his head cut off, eviscerated by sharp claws, trampled by kids, eaten, lose his internal organs, and all without a speck of blood! So a little like what I hear Heart of Darkness is like, I think?

But this isn't a bad thing per se and it shows just how old this game is when it can get away with this sort of thing. I wasn't ever able to beat it, as the puzzles in this game were just too hard and I just had no clue what to do. I would try, literally hours on some days, to get some kind of progress, but I would just never be able to. The fact that this game is impossible for me to replay now that I am an adult makes this story a tragedy. But I am not here to tell you that. I mean I could, but it would just waste the time of whoever is reading this.

Nightmare Ned, a game I haven't played literally since I was a kid. I was 9 years old, fairly clueless, and indulged like 80% of my time to try to play this game. It was frustrating, somewhat scary (for a kid's game of course) and violent! (again, for a kid's game) It also had a very Tim Burton feel to it, so if anyone likes Tim Burton, they would indulge in this game! I remember playing this game, I remember most of what went on, but I haven't played this game since like 2002 or so, maybe 1999 so if anyone played this game like in the last week or so, and notices some problems with plot or so, then please forgive me.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: This game has fantastic graphics. It can hold up very well. It had the spooks and most of it was comedic slapstick. Probably the best game of it's era. I especially like how it has a Ti... Read the rest of this Review

The Memories!!!
My goodness, this game brings so much back. This is the very first in the Putt Putt series and it is perhaps a classic. I didn't play this as much as I did with the others in the series, but I easily have the memories. But is this game as great as I say it is. I don't quite like this one as much as I do Moon, Time, or Zoo, but this is still a good game despite not liking it as much. It's the easiest and most straightforward of the series and is the same (minus a difference or two) and isn't quite as randomly generated as much as say, Pajama Sam or Spy Fox or something to that effect.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: This game shows it's age and retroness. Later games after Moon don't show quite as much age. Still, things are cute and that's all that matters. There are a lot worse games out there from the time period that still don't quite muster or come close to holding up. These just barely reach the line where they are safe. Nostalgic adults and people who relive their childhood won't really care all that much

Sound: The music is the ear wormy kind of tune that stick with you and never leave like they are supposed to. One song always reminded my 6 year old self (ages are not exact)of a song from the Clifford show (what little VERY little I watched of said show anyway) and would drive me to madness. It's the song that plays when you mow the lawn. It just reminded me of Clifford just a tad. I have no bloody idea why. Music pretty catchy and you might have it stuck in your head afterwards. But it's not quite up to the proper sound quality in later games though.

Addictiveness: While a very short game that can be beaten very quickly if one doesn't go wandering, the game still has that addictive nature this franchise can be known for. I wasn't coming back quite as much as I did for Zoo, but it's still very addicting. I remember countless hours spent changing... Read the rest of this Review
Wishbone and The Amazing Odyssey

This game too smart for me!!!!
Yet another game I grew up on. This time based on the wonderful Wishbone series of books and the TV show itself. Anyone once again growing up or was around in the wonderful 90's would know who Wishbone was. In case you were unaware who he was, Wishbone was a dog with a very big imagination. He liked to imagine he was the main character of those classic novels schools sometimes had you do book reports on or made you read.

This game, was based on Homer's Odyssey. Not the Simpson Homer, but the author. Now I never beat this game as a kid. I wasn't very smart, and couldn't beat it. I did have some fun playing checkers though, and occasionally gambling to get out of Hadies, but that was something else. This game still gets me thinking of better times so it still counts as nostalgia, which is what my mass review series is all about. I can easily write close to 1,000 words on this game alone based on my memory. So lets get started!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: A digitized wishbone super imposed over animation. This was about the norm at the time. I haven't played it in ages, but I am sure I would agree they both hold up well and show their age. I am sure those that played the game at the time would care. From what I remember, they look amazing. But those are memories from when I was 8, so I don't know how reliable that is.

Sound: I am not one to focus on Sound, but from what I remember, they are immersive, and what little music there was, sounded amazing. Birds chirped on the beach, and Wishbone probably had the same voice or a really really good impersonator.

Addictiveness: The amount of choice and different outcomes make this pretty engaging. I never beat it or past that area on the ship where the Hydra snake thing got you. I think my computer couldn't handle this. I don't remember if this was because I was stupid, or just because of the syste... Read the rest of this Review
Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse

Overwhelming Nostalgia
Flash back to when you are a child in the 90's. You're young, have no idea how horrible the world is, and you are a gamer! You are not the greatest gamer at the time so you decide to boot up some Point and click games from Humongous Entertainment.

What I am saying here is I loved these games. As you can no doubt tell from my review of the PlayStation review of You Are What You Eat, I breathed these games in all their glory. First of my loves as a child was Freddi Fish. This was my favorite series in the library, especially this game. Haunted Schoolhouse Mystery. This is pretty much a love letter to Scooby Doo, only toned toned for younger eyes.

I played the living daylights out of this game. I explored every possible nook of this game, and seen everything it has to offer. I got different trap plot coupons and pretty much explored the underwater world.

This game was my favorite in the series, but I really liked them all. I have the most memories of playing this game before or after school and my heart and soul cried when the disk finally crashed and it became unplayable.

But why is it good? I mean most of this is my opinion and most of this review is from nostalgia anyway. Find out in this review!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: The game looks great and has that 80's charm from things like Don Bluth or something. It's still retro, but it brings a smile to a kid or nostalgic adult.

Sound: The songs, and sounds are fantastic. I at one point had a CD to this game, with songs and stuff not featured in the game. (or I never found them) This has the best soundtrack in the series

Addictiveness: As stated before, I was hooked on this game. I would play this till my bedtime occurred, before school (albeit rarely) or just about anytime. I got pretty much everything. All plot coupon occurences, scenes, click... Read the rest of this Review
Pajama Sam: You Are What You Eat From Your Head To Your Feet

Nostalgic Overdose Critical
Please note that this review is technically for the far superior PC version but I did play a little of the PlayStation version once I saw that yes, I was actually seeing Pajama Sam on the Playstation on this very site! Granted the third game (one I never played as a kid) and not the other well known DARKNESS one.

Pajama Sam! Anyone who was even slightly around during the 90's knows of Humongous Entertainment and the simply wonderful point and click disguised adventure games. I remember fondly one particularly happy memory of waking up before a kind of day care camp kinda thing and playing Putt Putt Saves the Zoo before I had to actually start my day!

I simply lived, breathed and experienced these games. They are great and no matter how old you are, what you did with your life choices, one can always return to these games and relive happier times in their life.

But just how is Pajama Sam for the Playstation? Well to be honest it's inferior to the PC version (I heard these were on the Wii at some point... These are better even though I never played them) and I will detail a bit below to the best of my ability.

The reason for the high rating and slightly negative sounding review is... well let's face it, it's simply a blast of nostalgic goodness either way, and I can't badmouth something. It just isn't in my nature. Plus it's Pajama Sam!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: The game isn't bad by any means, but there is slight lag and compression issues and slight slow down.. I dunno, there is just something off having this PC classic on the Playstation. It seems watered down.

Sound: The sounds are all there, but again slightly compressed sounding and clearly pushing the Playstation (heh, as if I am an expert on the PlayStation's capabilities) If you played the PC version, you will recognize the sounds and they add up, but havin... Read the rest of this Review
Mother 3 (english translation)

Greatest GBA game?
While my review of this game isn't unique by any means, it should still be contributed to your ending opinion of this game.

Mother 3 was never released in the United States. Nintendo just never decided to give us this amazing, yet underrated game. It is the third in the weirdly named Mother series and the sequel to Earthbound or Mother 2 (whichever you prefer) but unrelated other than a villain that appears. Sorry I won't spoil who, but meh, I am sure you can figure it out.

I won't lie, this game isn't for everyone. If it was released in these parts, it would probably get many censors. There are references to transgender people (best moments in the entire game ^_^)sexual innuendo, violence, death, all that happy stuff. The story is heavily mature but the ESRB doesn't rate on heavy emotional themes. It rates according to violence, language, sex, and drugs (you know the fun stuff)

It was thanks to a dedicated group of fans that those of us who don't understand Japanese can play it. These were amazing people in my humble opinion and I am hugely grateful for these people.

Now, unless you have super special powers or something, playing this game outside an emulator for the English version is downright impossible (as far as I am aware) and you will probably need emulators for it.

But I rambled enough about this game. The big question here that I want you to understand is should you consider this game? That is to be debatable. Did you adore Earthbound? If you haven't played Earthbound, I suggest you stop reading my review of it's sequel and play it. It is a great game that I consider essential gaming material.

If you loved Earthbound however, then you are going to like Mother 3. Especially this English translation (as if a person who can't read/understand Japanese can understand the original version) of what is perhaps one of the best GBA games you can possibly play.

But maybe you don't wan... Read the rest of this Review
Powerpuff Girls, The - Him and Seek

Powerpuff Girls: Him and Seek
The Powerpuff Girls have to save the day for the uncountable time! While most people would consider easy to play and beat games not worth their time, I am not like most people. The game is based on the hit tv series that tells the story of super powered little girls. I am not going to review what the basic plot here though because this is a review.

Graphics: The game has incredible graphics and things don't look weird. I can easily tell who and what things are.

Sound: The game has catchy music then remixes some music from the show. There even is a compressed sound of the narrator that is in virtually every episode telling what is happening at any given moment. His role here is a smaller rendition of the opening credits and the ending.

Addictive Quality: The game is ridiculously easy, even someone like me (who isn't the greatest gamer alive) can tell you that. Yet, despite the very easy gameplay, this game, for whatever reason, sticks with you and makes you want to play it the whole way through.

Story: No spoilers, but it could be an episode of the show... a very boring, repetitive element of the show, but I can easily see it happening. The characters are their respective selves and there are a lot of fun stuff to do. Granted, you have a treasure hunt of 25 items to find, but you have mini games along the way

Depth: The game is short, one can easily beat it in 1 hour or so depending on how long it takes you to do certain mini games. I clocked in 1 hour and 21 minutes. The mini games are easily the hardest (that sounds weird) in the entire game. Despite the short game, it is fun for what it does have you do. Unless you don't like to play short games at all, give it a go.

Difficulty: Like I said above, this game isn't that hard. The only thing in this game that gave me trouble at all were the mini games. You don't get a game over, but if all 3 girls are knocked out (or killed depending on your POV) ... Read the rest of this Review
My Little Pony Fantasy 6

My Little Game Review
Cliche review title aside, this game is really awesome. It is a game hack of Final Fantasy 6 but 20% cooler now that it has ponies as it's cast. Now, while I haven't completed this game, or even played the original game, I can safely say that this game is faithful to the source material based on what little I know.

My Little Pony has hit the nation and is a surprise hit mostly among the male population since the female population doesn't have as much of a reason to feel conflicted with liking ponies. Gender typing aside, My Little Pony as a rom hack is just about the coolest thing in existence. I haven't played the original Final Fantasy having never grown up with a SNES. I don't want to play the original and couldn't stick with it when I tried.

The game isn't too hard if you know what you are doing and know your basic RPG gameplay. This has a gameplay slightly similar to Chrono Trigger, meaning that you must wait for your turn. Forgive the horrific slander on actual RPG terms. I am not up to date and don't know what it is called.

The game has Pony sprites. It can be somewhat jarring to see Twilight Sparkle stand on two hooves like a human, but the maker did what he could given the circumstances.

I am not a judge on sound or music because I like it all. Music helps with the gameplay and enjoyment. The more addicting the music is, the more I have fun.

The story of the game is basically Final Fantasy 6 but with a more Pony friendly theme. Equestria or where ever is huge just like the source material. Lines of dialogue have been changed to fit the show. Memes are also added and depending on how annoyed you are with certain kinds, it may or may not add to your likability.

If you found the original FF6 engaging and addicting, then you will love this game.

The game is roughly the same. I haven't gotten that far, at most during the second half of he game, but there might be certain things in... Read the rest of this Review
Conker's Bad Fur Day
09-03-12 01:10 PM
My All-Time Favorite Game
Paper Mario is considered one of my favorite games. Conker's Bad Fur Day is consider my All-time favorite game in existance. Though the game can get pretty difficult, in a messed up sort of way, the difficulty is what makes it a classic. Rare was responsible for bring this game after kiddie classics like Banjo Kazooie were released. Conker pretty much surpassed Banjo Kazooie and had adult humor/violence and themes.

If I could I would rate it higher but 10 is still good. There are some scenes in this game that are shocking for an N64 game to have. Sex, drugs and a certain kind of humor that you are forced to watch for 5 seconds. Lets just say it involves prune juice and leave it at that.

Though story mode is short (if you know what you are doing) there are still features to keep you entertained for hours. Multiplayer is surprisingly one player friendly and extremely enjoyable. Despite being a comedy, the ending is shocking but I heard a rumor that the ending that was considered was worse then what happend. Alot of movie references will remind some of you of classic movies.

I like everything so the only real complaint I have about this game is the story's short time frame. Conker was in other games before he had his bad fur day, including Conker's Pocket Tales for the GBC and a playable character in Diddy Kong Racing. Pocket is a 100% toned down version and meant for younger audiences. I am not the biggest fan of racing games, but I have played Diddy Kong Racing just not that far into it.

It could be me, but after awhile of playing this game, I forget I am playing an N64 game. They made a remake/port for the Xbox, and while some people like it, I have a lot of gripes about it. Better graphics doesn't always mean a better game. In this one, only major language and one useage of the S word are bleeped. In remake only mild language is left in. There is a boss fight in this game that is what many people consider the greatest... Read the rest of this Review
Drill Dozer

A Different direction for the makers of Pokemon
I heard of this game 3 or 4 years ago, but never played it till last week, starting it on Wedensday and finishing it on Friday at 2:00 PM. I am the worst judge of a game because I end up liking most of what I play. I have played some movie based games and liked them. The only time a game truly sucks is if I can't complete it or getting stuck and dying 100 times or more in 1 day.

Drill Dozer was made by Gamefreak, the same people who were responsible for bringing us the Pokemon games. The grahpics for this game are incredable and the music and sound are engaging. I have a slight problem where I have to play with sound or else some of the enjoyment is taken away. The fights and boss battle are pretty clever and unique. It starts out as somewhat straightforward boss fights but the last two in the game get pretty unique. I am of course not counting the "final boss" because while very funny, there is no health bar and all you have to do is punch him once and the game is won. I am not the greatest gamer and struggle on areas where other gamers win quickly.

The game is very addicting and has a cast of quirky and lovable characters. Like the title suggests you have to use a drill and alternate between counterclockwise and clockwise drill directions. Or simply put, the R and L button. You better get used to drilling with R and L because a boss has you do it excessively. (Collosobot's last Energy capsule and southward passage has you alternate between R and L, often a split second after each other, and also shifting to certain gears to pass by passages all under 50 seconds) Which brings me to difficuty. While not a hard to figure out game, this isn't nearly as straightforward as other games.

For me levels themselves aren't hard or complicated, bosses especially the Drizzler, the 2nd fight against Carrie and Collosobot are challenging. There are 6 levels bringing a total to 6-2 and hidden missions where you can collect treasure and all the s... Read the rest of this Review
