Resident Evil for GameBoy Color was cancelled at 90% of development. It was designed by HotGen to be a direct conversion of the Playstation original. Capcom refused the final build in 2000 saying that they 'were not confident that the product would have made both consumers and Capcom happy'. The ROM was later released to the public. Due to it’s incomplete nature, the game had a lot of glitches requiring hacks to continue at certain areas.

There are 2 builds of this prototype. In this build Jill is available as a playable character! This ROM is patched with PacoChan's bug-fix which fixes the following: Originally you couldn’t access the Plant 42 room because you couldn’t use the red book. Now there’s no red book. You only have to take the white book from the bookcase and the main door to the Plant 42 will open (the big door, not the one behind the bookcase in the small room). The door to the heliport was opened by default. Now it is closed like it should be. It will open when you exit the Tyrant room. Removed the collision of the left wall in one of the lab’s rooms to enable access to the morgue and one of the MO Readers. It was impossible to access that room without hacking.

 So I've been playing this but I'm stuck where you normally insert the eagle/wolf medals into the fountain, is it possible to do this or wasn't the game developed to the end?

 For a Gameboy color game it is surprisingly well made. The graphics are decent compared to other games of this type. The song can get annoying, but despite a ton of flaws, the game is surprisingly pretty for a gbc game

 This game is a good resident evil. This is one of Capcom's Magnum opus ports even though only 90% complete tis thy shame but thy love thee jill sandvich!
