Mario Golf GBC rocks!Mario Golf GBC came out in the US on October 5, 1999 and is the 2nd game in the Mario Golf series. How does it compare to the rest of the series? Let's find out.
Graphics:10/10 For a gameboy color game the graphics are fantastic. Despite the game having an overhead viewpoint you can tell where the hills are. Also the colors are so vibrant and gorgeous. For those reasons I give the graphics a 10.
Sound: 9/10 I love the music that plays when you play against Putts. It's the best battle theme in the game and honestly one of the best pieces of music on the GBC period. The other music is decent but Putts' theme is the best. My only complaint is why did Putts get that music? He's the first clubhouse champ you face yet the other champs who by the way are much harder than him get worse music. It makes no sense to me. That right there caused me not to give the sound a 10. Instead, I'm giving it a 9.
Addictiveness: 10/10 Timing your shots is the key to success in this game. If you time your shots poorly, you're in trouble. Fortunately the shots aren't too hard to time. Also this game has RPG elements in it. You level up just like in an RPG and when you do you can improve one of your stats. Because of this you have a lot of stat customization choices which makes the game really fun and addicting. For those reasons I give the addictiveness a 10.
Story: 7/10 Most golf games don't have a story, but this game does though it's generic you basically have to win a tournament in each clubhouse and then beat the clubhouse champ in a vs match. I'm not going into anymore depth than that because I don't want to spoil the game. I give the story a 7.
Depth: 9/10 This game has a lot to do. The story mode will take you awhile to complete, along with some sidequests that you can do along the way give this game a lot of content. It may not have as much content as pokemon games for example, but there's still enough for you to do for me to give the depth a 9.
Difficulty: 5/10 Early on, Mario Golf for the GBC is a pretty easy game. The early tournaments are very easy, and the vs match with Putts is a joke. But as you progress through the story, the courses get tougher and the vs matches get very intense, especially once you reach Gene. Then things get very tough. Since the game starts out extremely easy though, I'm lowering the difficulty score to a 5.
Overall score: 9.5/10 Overall, Mario Golf for the GBC is one of best sports game you'll find on that system. It has a fantastic graphics for a gameboy color game, a great soundtrack, very addictive gameplay, and a good amount of content that'll keep you busy for a god amount of time. Overall, I think Mario Golf deserves a 9.5 out of 10.
