Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (rev 1.2) Review by: SuperCrash64 - 9.6/10
overall a good game Before I get started lets explain a little bit . Mortal kombat 3 was a game based on mk2 and mk1 formulas some people would not play the game do to this reason . The mortal kombat franchise was dealing with games like killer instinct and virtual fighter those games were heavy orderly combo based games . Mortal kombat 3 was doing the same thing some people were mad that they would have to remember all buttons in a proper order there fore some people would not play it . Die heart Mk fans would check it out and get used to it . mk3 was a huge success it later got a update into ultimate mortal kombat 3 which was only be outperformed by the newer mortal kombat trilogy . Mortal kombat trilogy however was not an arcade game it was a exclusive to the n64 ps1 and the Sega Saturn although the n64 version was different than the ps1 and Saturn ports of the game , umk3 is what I'm reviewing today . Anyways lets get started
Graphics these graphics are really refreshing and well detailed on the stages . All sprites look sharp and crisp and colorful in the backgrounds . Midway even got Easter eggs in the game for example on the desert stage you ill see cyrax looking like hes getting a tan in the background . Only thing that really bothered me was the fatalities . Because they would have like 24 rib cages and 2 skulls .My point being there is just a lot of bones that come out when you do fatalities . Graphics get a 9 which is a grade B . There very nicely done in this game although the fatalities have a lazy feel to it .
Sound The mortal kombat franchise was known for lots of wacky grunts and screams unlike mk1 you can raise up the volume to make the soundtrack better to hear .The music is not bad but I think its a little too dramatic . It still sounds great none the less its just a little to dramatic for me . Sound gets a 9. A Grade b again
Addictiveness Mortal kombat is always enjoyable do to the epic fighting blood and fatalities umk3 is the exact same way to be addicting also the neat combo order style to it . Addictiveness gets a 10 a Grade A+ pretty much perfect for any one to play I really don't know why those people were being so picky on mk3 .
Story Blank sorry if you want the story you best play the original mortal kombat 3. The reason being is this is the updated version of mk3 adding new character and classic ones such as sub zero scorpion so they took the story out . And replaced the intro
Depth you have a lot of stuff to do in this game you have temples or statues which are known as novice warrior master and champion . And if you don't know how to play it could take a while . You have hidden characters such as the previous noob saibot and ninja smoke ermac and mileena as hidden and unlock able characters minus noob saibot . noob saibot was not playable until Mk trilogy but he is a bit broken . Anyways depth gets a 10 plenty to do in this game
Difficulty once I learned most of the combos everything in mortal kombat 3 was addicting controls were perfect after you mastered the button order of the combos . In general its not that hard and like the previous Mk games has a difficulty option of 5 . So difficulty gets a 7 its still a well balanced game . Although the computer opponent can be ruthless some times .
Final ratings a Grade A 9.6 mk3 was a good success and this is the update even without it I still would have enjoyed it . While mk3 was not my favorite of the series its still a good game I can recommend you check out . Because the combos are not hard at all to master if you have trouble with the combos or don't know how to do them . You can look up a moves guide through Google . There are plenty of mk3 guides everywhere . This game is epic and mortal kombat always seems to continue being epic for a long long time .
