Pokemon Fluorite (beta 2) Review by: animelover1 - 8.3/10
Pokemon Fluorite Version Hello everyone animelover1 here writing a review on a Pokémon Rom Hack that I've actually just recently beat. This is Pokémon Fluorite version and it is a beta. As all of you know, a beta is an incomplete game. Now I actually have a ton to say about this really short game. So I am just going to give a brief introduction about it right here. You go through the Regma Region as sort of a sequel to Pokémon Emerald and how you beat Teams Aqua and Magma. They come back in the Regma region raising Havoc and turmoil and it's up to you to stop them, as it is in every other Pokémon game. With all that being said let's get started with my game review.
Graphics: 8
I gave this hack an 8 on the graphics because I really like the old tiles for the Game Boy Advance, and that's exactly what this game had. The original Pokémon Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby tiles. It gives me the nostalgic feeling when I play through this game with those tiles. I actually would have given this a much higher rating if, and only if the games tiles were y'know like more 3d like some other hacks out there have. As much as I love the old ones, I will always like something better or that looks better. However that doesn't apply to the original games just hacks.
Sound: 5
I give this category a 5. I know what some of you who haven't tried this hack may be thinking. Why would he degrade something as awesome as Pokémon Emeralds awesome tunes, and don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVE the soundtrack that Gen 3 provides us with. However, in this game that may not just be the case. For one they have absolutely no soundtrack from Gen 3 games at all which is nothing wrong with that because they actually include Gen 2, the Johto music, and to top it all off they put the Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver soundtrack in there. The thing that led me to giving this game such a crappy rating is the glitches and bugs it had. Sometimes when you go to view your menu the music stops, and sometimes it completely shuts off, and the only way to recover it is to reset the game, and believe me when I say I got quite annoyed to the point where I just shut off my volume and played, and that pestered me a little because I love playing video games with their sound.
Addictiveness: 7
I gave addictiveness a 7. I gave it a partial score for as the half way marker. The hack itself had me enthusiastic about its storyline and was totally awesome. The developer did an awesome job with the scripting, so it was actually pretty easy to read. Only reason I gave it something as partial as a 7 was because this game is still in beta. Certain betas would actually be so good to push me as to giving it an absolute 10 but, this was actually a really short beta and it didn't have me on an hook like completely yet. The game stops at 3 gyms and a cave that I have no idea how to enter but still it was really fun raising my awesome team. I think I would have done a better job on it if it was a little longer though.
Story: 7
I gave the story sector a 7 as well. I thought the story was good and all but as I said before this game is still in beta. It was good at keeping me entertained through the whole game though. They have a brand new storyline and new Pokémon to choose from. You can pick either Sneasel, or Gligar which is really unique to me because...well...I really don't know what to call them as a pair like I would call Seviper and Zangoose rivals, and Clefairy and Gengar one. But those are the two razor Pokémon. What I mean by that is on the game one evolves by Razor Claw which is sneasel, and the other evolves by razor fang, and I'm not particularly talking about in this game, the originals. I really thought that was an awesome idea to have those started embedded in the game for you to choose from and travel with.
Depth: 3
I gave depth a 3. Reason, this game isn't so long despite it being a beta. I've come across 4 badge betas longer than this one even though this is a 3 badge one. I actually just found this game today and decided to give it a try because it had a decent rating. Before I try to attempt any games I look at their ratings. I don't play games as often if their ration is 6 or below, but this game had a rating of 8.4 so I just had to check it out. So yeah I started on it today, and I beat the beta today. I must say, for a short game I am pretty impressed at the thought poured into this game.
Difficulty: 2
I gave the difficulty a 2. Throughout the game there were a couple of places where you could battle a trainer and it would turn out to be a infinite trainer battle. That right there wasn't necessarily a mistake but it did give the player an edge in the game right there. For instance. When you make it to the town where your supposed to get your first badge. Your mom shows up and give you a lucky egg and a exp. Share and says she doesn't need them. Also if you scope out the city like I do in every Pokémon game, you would notice that someone would want to battle you but doesn't because you don't have even 1 badge. If you get a badge go back to him put on a lucky egg, you can speed through battles while gaining a ton of experience points. I have made it too level 30 by doing this with all of my team members before I even got my second badge. By doing that made this game easy regardless. Again same thing, on the town where you get your final badge of the beta, there are a group of infinite battlers there as well. So anyways yeah, this hack was pretty easy.
Overall: 8.3
Overall I gave the game a 8.3 as a rating. This game was still a decent hack even though it had some sound glitches and it was really short. I guess you could call it a really short and sweet game at least. I at least have to give it some credit for keeping me entertained for today, and I highly recommend others who are reading my review to actually give this game a try. It doesn't have any glitches to make the game stop so you don't have to worry about saving often. So thanks for reading, and I'll catch you all later in my next game review.
