I'm a big fan of traditional card games like Poker, though I hardly find people my age playing it. I actually learned how to play Poker from a mini-game in Starcraft, which is funny to explain to people.

Another card game I'm really into and excel at is Yugioh. Especially the original card game, Duel Monsters. I have a big collection of the cards, as well as various decks, but I only really have 1 person near me that plays it, and playing online doesn't really cut it out for me (I love the video games, however)

The Pokemon card game is also one I like, but I never got into that well. I still have a lot of cards of them, however I keep them more of a collection/memory than anything else.

I've played quite a few trading card games, such as Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Oh yea, and for a little while I was into playing Magic: The Gathering since a friend let me make a deck out of his spare cards (fire and forest combo for the win it's been so long I don't even think those are the right names for it lol). Though if you like these kind of card games, Magic is extremely fun and intricate to play, as well as having various styles of play. One for instance being called Generals or something like that. It's where you have 3 players on each team. 2 are out in front, and one General in the back. The 2 out front for each team battle it out, and can only attack or be attacked by the generals through magic or long distance attacks until one of the 2 out front have been defeated. It's actually an extremely fun version to play, though you better have a good strategy and team to work with, or expect to fail pretty quickly. The 2 in front are free to attack either of the other 2 out in front, so it's possible to team up on a front-man if you so choose (or if you want, play it so that's not an option. You can really make up your own rules as you go if you like).

I loved playing and trading Pokémon cards as a kid, though I was so young, a lot of the older kids would try to con us out of our good cards for a crappy deal. I remember being so young, me and my friends hardly ever battled since we didn't fully understand how the energy system worked, and even when we did, ignored the energy cards completely and made our own rules for it XD

Yu-Gi-Oh was probably my favorite of all these. The elementary school I was attending at the time actually let us bring our cards in to school and play / trade them during the free time through out the day. It was awesome to have the option of having a duel instead of going outside for recess (they actually made this an option because the trend was so huge at the time and so many people wanted to do it). That, and by the time it came out, my friends and I were just old enough to really comprehend how the battle system worked, so we spent many an hour trying to best each other with our own custom decks. I actually remember being able to summon the Blue Eyes Ultimate dragon a few times and doing work on my foes

As for actual 52 card deck games, I've played Poker, 5 and 7 card stud, as well as more simple games like War or Go Fish. Poker would be my favorite, as me and my friends would have matches between all of us with a $5 buy-in, winner-take-all excluding that 2nd would get their money back. I have so many fond memories of sitting around playing cards with the guys lol. Half the time one of our moms would cook a huge dinner for all of us since the games would generally take 3+ hours to complete entirely. I've spent quite a bit of time playing these games with family as well, though we would play with change, usually having small and big blinds being a quarter or two. Those were some good times as well. I remember being outclassed once by my cousin who should've been a little too young to do as well as she did, though I barely managed to win most of it back from her lol.

So, in short yes, I have played quite a few card games. I have tons of great memories here, and hopefully didn't bore you too much reminiscing over them

I love playing BS and President at school. It's just so fun to get competitive with everyone else to the point that I don't really care if I lose because I'm having a great time just taking part in it and watching everyone laugh and scream at each other.

I also collected Pokemon cards when I was younger, but I never actually played the game.

Oh yes, a lot of these actually. I love card games actually. And game boards. I used to play Magic: The Gathering back when I was in high school. After finishing my homework, I went to the roleplay club with my deck and challenge the members of the club. There was that and pencil and paper roleplay like Dungeons and Dragons but that's besides the point. Now, I kept my Yu-Gi-Oh cards (actually, it's a deck full of spellcaster and mystical because I'm fond of magic and fantasy, and I have some spare cards related to the same type ^^ ) and my Digimon cards, since I was a fan of the anime at that time. I own other cards game, they are fun to play and are not that troublesome to carry around.

I've played Uno,  (which I love! High Five!) war(love that one, too), go-fish once, but I didn't like it very much. I've also played poker, which I'm fairly bad at, as opposed to Blackjack, which I tend to be good at but I've had a few pretty bad runs. Other than those, nope, not at all. Just Uno, War, Blackjack, Poker, and Go-fish.

Oh wait lol. I forgot about Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh. I never really found anyone to play pokemon with, but I had a few matches of Yu-gi-oh and I had fun with both of them.

Titan127 : Oh, you like UNO too! I'll give you uno high five! *high five* I have played war only once but I liked it and would like to play it again someday.

I forgot that I played go-fish before too but I haven't played it in many years. I think I only played it when I was a toddler XD

Pacman+Mariofan: xD I haven't played war in years, because when I was small, me and my mom always bought a pack of cards and played war at the airport before I went up to my dad's place. One time, we didn't finish the game, and I came back and we sat down in the waiting area of the airport and finished it, just as we had resolved to do. We had the same cards and everything, she had held onto them.

Well, we didn't end up finishing it there. We sat there for forty five minutes before my mom said we had to go home or the pizza guy would be outside with no one to pay him since my stepdad was going to be getting home in like an hour.

The next day, we continued the match, and it took two and a half hours. I did win, and we both were like "never again." All in all, that game lasted an entirety of four hours and fifteen minutes, give or take ten minutes. It was insane, and I haven't played since. Uno is always fun. I normally get like half the deck in the beginning and then occasionally end up winning because everything just starts going my way near the end of it. Happy to find an Uno fan though! And same on the Go fish.

Titan127 : I just now saw your post, I have too many notifications XD

Anyway, I'm shocked that a game of war would last that long and you seemed very determined to finish it! I tend to have similar luck with UNO. Things go wrong for me at the beginning of the game, but towards the end I have a lot of good cards I can use and I end up winning.

My grandparents (all four of them) were great card players and taught me so many games like 13, 99 and Salad. In-laws from their generation have also taught me a few like Michigan Rummy and Kings' Corners.

As far as board game-like card games, I have played Uno and "1000 bornes" (not sure about the name in English) like many people. However I find them less interesting since strategy seems less intense. With real cards, although there is a great deal of chance, you still need to think through very carefully if you do not want to end up with too many points.

I can only asume you're talking about a regular deck of cards as opposed to like, a trading card game such as pokemon.

I actually learned from my grandmother how to play most of the games that I know. Such as Scat, 7 card no peak, Rummy (Gin and 500), Baseball, Follow the queen, blackjack, texas hod em, Solitaire (Pyramid, Tri-peak, Regular... ect.) .... to name a few. I am decently good at cards, but when im older, I would never go to a casino or anything, I'm not that good xP

I suppose UNO would be considered outside a regular deck of cards, so I have played UNO as well as Phase 10. There have been multiple UNO games that have lasted over 6 hours xP

I used to play crazy eight a lot when I was much younger with my dad, and we had lots of fun! I no longer play real card games (unless if someone wants to, then I join them), and instead I play this electric game I check on everyday: Clash Royale! It's a strategy card game. Play smart, and you'll get those 3 crowns :3

I like playing card games. I played Uno, Bull, War, Apples to  Apples, and Cards Against Humanity. I definitely enjoy Apples to Apples and CAH. They're both the same thing, except CAH is more suitable for older people.

janus : I agree that strategy seems less intense in card games. It's hard for me to think carefully in card games and sometimes I think of another good option after I put my card down

Fyredove : Trading card games count too, I didn't think of that when I made this thread. Wow, your grandmother taught you so many card games I haven't played Phase 10 but I've wanted to for a long time.

Oldschool777 : I didn't know there was a PS3 UNO game. I have UNO on my Wii but I prefer playing it with real card instead of clicking buttons on a remote XD

greenluigi : Some of my friends really like Clash Royale, and one of them showed me the game

AriaAngelDream : I've played Apples to Apples too but only once and we didn't even finish a game of it. I have it at my house so I can play it again.

AriaAngelDream : I've played Apples to Apples too but only once and we didn't even finish a game of it. I have it at my house so I can play it again.

I agree, physical cards are more enjoyable. But sometimes, you can't get a good game together.

I've played a couple. Mostly stuff like Uno, but I always have a blast playing Cards against Humanity with some chat friends.

Also if the pokemon trading card game counts then I've played that as well as a kid (though me and my classmates always made our own rules because we didn't understand it).

Oldschool777 : Good point. Sometimes other people can't play UNO with me so it's useful to have it on the Wii. Playing against CPU's isn't the same but oh well XD

Furret : Yeah that counts. At least you and your classmates found a way to be able to play it together successfully and it's cool to play games a different way sometimes

And the CPU is usually a damn cheat. But it is fun, better when you can find a few people to play against.

I love card games! I love playing Bluff, which has another, not so family friendly name lol. Poker is a mother great game that I like to play. My dad taught me when I was younger, and I'm actually kinda good. UNO is pretty good, but it gets really boring after a little while. War, Slapjack, Hearts, and Candyman, although that doesn't involve the cards as much, are all games I like to play as well. I see that Crazy Eights was mentioned earlier, and I used to like it when I was younger, but I hate it now lol.

I hate Uno, as my family plays by ridiculously modified rules that make each game take literally hours to play (sometimes several hours) and no card game can hold my attention that long. I hate it because it's a time drain and I could enjoy that wasted time doing all kinds of other things.

As for card games I like:
Basic Card Games
•Rummy. No idea what the kind my family plays is called, but it's not Gin. I like this game a lot, but I don't like the default rule of playing to 500 points to win. 250 would be much more enjoyable.

•All Fours. It may actually be All Four instead of All Fours. Not sure. Anyway I've only played this on an old flip phone and I had downloaded it from a mobile game site. Sadly no one I know has heard of it (it's a foreign game, as in not played in the states), and since it's been several years since I had that phone it's also been several years since I've played the game and I've forgotten most of the rules.

•Hearts. I love this game but it can be a little unbalanced. Try learning it if you haven't: it's a lot of fun.

TCG and Other
•Kaijudo Showdown: Duel Masters. I may have (and probably did) butchered that name, but it's a GBA Trading Card Game. It's a little complicated but a lot of fun.

That's actually it for this category. I love TCGs but I find most to be extremely unbalanced. Also most want to include symbolism that I'm not comfortable with such as sorcery or demons etc.
