FaithFighter : I hold no grudge against you and all is forgiven. I'm sorry for lashing out at you, but I take nothing back. You're a good guy I'm sure, and don't worry you haven't been fiery throughout the discussion whereas I have. 

Okay....  Your wording is  the problem to be honest. You said you think its disgusting.  How would you feel if someone said they felt you were disgusting.There is a big difference between stating your opinion and being disrespectful. You could have easily just say you don't agree with it but your not going to try to knock them down for it.  Its not really walking on egg shells its just being respectful, I respect a gay persons beliefs just as much as I respect a religious persons. I learned that the hard way.  They are not asking for anything more than what most people ask.

Myelin : So I guess you haven't just lived in the U.S,like I was assuming. I don't know much about what the rest of them are like. Sorry for putting you in a category like that!

FaithFighter : I commend you for trying to be more understanding of something that is so difficult for you, among many others, to grasp. God put every single person on this earth for a reason. That reason is not to be judged, demeaned, assaulted (both physically and mentally), nor discriminated. Because someone is different from you (different beliefs, sexual preferences, personalities, etc.) it does not mean that they are any less of a person, or should be treated any differently. Yes it can be difficult to understand, but the thing is you don't have to understand it because everything that God has done doesn't make sense. I will admit I have had some issues accepting and understanding people that are LGBT(etc.) in the past, but I have met a lot of people that are gay/lesbian and bisexual, and they are no different than you and I as people. I am, by no means, someone that has always understood or supported the LGBT(etc.) community because of the way I was raised. I was able to discover more understanding when I went away to college because of the diversity in which college provides. Actually one of these people I met is my girlfriend who, obviously, is bisexual. I don't have any problem with it, and we have even come to an agreement that she can explore the other side of her sexuality any way she please. I couldn't stand myself if I were to be the reason she was unhappy because of not getting the experience she needed.

Understanding and acceptance of LGBT(etc.) can be extremely difficult, and takes longer than others to achieve. The next time you have a conversation with someone who is LGBT(etc.) try and think of how you would want to be spoken to and treated before you say anything. You will find that the conversation and atmosphere will be a lot better than your previous ones.

Somebody should count how many different LGBT topics are posted here each year.
