On August 1st, the first main Steam Forum Competition is going to begin and it's going to be awesome.

The overall prize for this contest will be 50,000 Viz but will not be distributed like the standard contest. There will be a special formula for determing the prizes and this formula will allow the prize per place to change each day of the month and will resemble something similar to the Stock Market.

There are two categories, THREADS and REPLIES. For each category, a total of 3 shares will be given each day to the 3 users who make the best thread or reply. The user who makes the best thread in any given day will receive 1.5 shares, the 2nd best thread will recieve 1  share, and the 3rd best thread will receive .5 shares. The same goes for replies.

The prize is always going to be 50,000 Viz but how much is given to each user will be based on how many shares there are, and only the top 3 users will receive Viz. For instance, If the top 3 users have a combined 100 shares, then each share will be worth 500 Viz.

Here are a few examples......

1st Place 50 shares
2nd Place 45 shares
3rd Place 41 shares
4th place 25.5 shares
5th place 8 shares.

The top 3 combined for 136 shares, therefore each share is valued at 367 Viz.


Extra shares may also be awarded to those who make exceptional threads/replies, who those who sign up as staff.


All threads and replies must be Steam related and must follow site rules and will be closely monitored. To compete, you must first sign up by posting here. All threads and replies you wish to be considered for that days rankings must also be posted in the contest thread which will be posted when the contest begins. The contest will last from August 1st until August 30th and prizes will be paid on the 31st.

What exactly would our job be if we did help? I'd be willing to, if it isn't extremely time consuming, as I'm fairly busy as of late. This does look interesting though.

My computer sucks, so I've never had steam, so I would ha no idea what I'm posting.

It sounds interesting. I'll probably take part, though my ability to compete may be hampered by events happening in August.

Eirinn : There's a bunch of stuff staff can do. They can go over the entries to see if they aren't spam or relate to steam, they can give feedback , vote and rate. They can also come up with special daily bonus topics that would award Viz on the spot. If it's needed, they can maybe make a post and link all the entries into one post and give feedback in that one post.

Staff can compete, but in a reply, the reply must be separated from the feedback portion. I may make this a time specific contest, like I might make all posts be in by 8 PM Central so stats can be put up that same day. I figure that if people have to wait until too late, even if it's because of tiem zones, there may be a chance that they could become inactive or miss deadlines.

I doubt staff would work more than an hour a day if they do just this.

I don't have Steam so I can't help you out zander, I'm sorry.

juuldude : Have you played a console game that has a Steam version? If so, just talking about that game or asking questions about it would be enough for a post or thread.

Oh I can do that then; sign me up to help. I was just making sure it didn't require two or three hours a day, and this seems to fit my schedule just fine.

I dont mind being staff as long as i get paid for it.. 

I mean i have pretty much one of the biggest steam collections on vizzed and i do use it a lot lol

Which console games have steam versions then? I've played mainly GB/C/A games on Vizzed and I own a Nintendo DSI and Nintendo 2DS.

juuldude : They mainly have PC games, but they usually have games from the PS3 and 360... 

Seriously though try looking yourself.. it's not hard.

vanelan : I was going to have one in that thread before for the tf2 contest but that went bad quickly. We might be able to pull one off during this competition if we can pull together enough rescources.

Lets not forget that staff can also particiapte for shares and will get certain prizes. As for voting, I am going to say that staff must post feedback to posts, and pick a few they feel should be considered. For instance if there is 10 replies and 7 threads, pick the 5 best for each. I am going to go ahead and say that the feedback and posting must be made between Midnight and Noon server time, so the results can be put up by 2

What if there is no posts to be considered.. I mean i'm not expecting anything of quality to be posted in a posting competition that's all

I love Steam so I definitely want to participate! I hope there are going to be lots of interesting posts in August.

I'll consider participating. Not sure if I actually will though.


If there's a game competition, I would recommend using one of the free games since people may not be able to buy one.
