If it never existed, I honestly would not have ever had interest in the Gamecube.

Granted, I never liked many of the games on the Gamecube, so it wouldn't have been a "big" loss.

Also, if not for it, fighting games would be even more boring than they presently are. SSB is far above every fighting game ever.

legacyme3 : Agreed. Smash Bros and Super Mario Sunshine and a few other games were the only GameCube titles I liked. But to answer the question...

If Smash Bros never existed, I would have a life. I don't play Super Smash Brothers much anymore, but I remember sitting on my ass for so long as a kid playing Super Smash Brothers (Nintendo 64). I beat everyone at it. Now I play Brawl, a tiny bit of Melee, and I play a lot of the original, and I've won a lot of tournaments for Super Smash Brothers, so without it, I guess I wouldn't have so much money from tournaments(?)

And I'm sure Nintendo would figure out a way to make another tournament fighter.

I would probably be fine. The game is fun, but it is not like it is the best thing in existence. I would probably live my life just fine if it did not exist. There is a little catch though. Assume it does not exist, but you would have never known that it would exist. It would not matter at all. The game did not exist, and you did not know about it. Situation #2: It does not exist, but you know that it could exist. That would be a worse situation than the first. I was assuming you were talking about the first situation originally, but eh. Now I am not sure. Either way, I would still probably be fine.

My life would have no meaning. I have always been a Smash Bros. fan, ever since my brother bought Melee for our GameCube when I was 6. I got addicted immediately once I learned the controls. In my first year or two I only used special moves and I only used Captain Falcon. No shielding, no grabbing, not even smash attacks except for the homerun bat. Then I learned how you play correctly. I became very skilled. When we got Brawl, I played it almost every day. And now, now I am waiting so impatiently for the next games in the series.

If Smash Bros. never existed, I would obviously not know that it might have existed, but... I don't know, it's hard to imagine. It would really suck though. I would have to only play Mario Kart with my friend (as that's the only good game he has other than Melee) and I wouldn't watch game tournaments. I probably wouldn't even know about F-Zero and I might have never tried Earthbound and I might not have known about the Game & Watch... wow. I really have learned lots about video games from Smash Bros.

If Super Smash Bros. never existed, there wouldn't be that competitive drive between characters from different franchises. There was never a game series (at least from my experience) that featured something like what the Super Smash Bros. series had. It brought all fans from different games to fight against each other to see which game character is the best out of all. Taking some parts of each game and putting it onto Super Smash Bros. was a good idea to bring everyone together.

TheFadedWarrior : You are a really hardcore Super Smash Brothers fan! If it wasn't for Super Smash Brothers I probably would not discover Earthbound (second favorite game of all time) and things like the Game and Watch series, Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, R.O.B, etc. In fact, Super Smash Brothers is a big reason of why I like Nintendo in general. But Faded, I'll set up a rehab program for you

If smash never existed, then I'd certainly have a lot more free time to invest in something else. If not for smash, then many people including myself would never have known about game franchises like Earthbound or Kid Icarus, prior to Smash bros, I wasn't familiar with either.

I also think my entire perspective on fighting games would be altered. Without a doubt, smash bros is the most well known and popular fighting game out there. I don't to imagine the after effects of taking something like that away. Did I forget to mention how much of a hole it would put in the Nintendo franchise?

Altogether, Smash is extremely popular and even influential for some people. I simply can't ponder a world without its existence.

If SSB didn't exist, none of its fans would even know they were missing out on anything. Thus, it'd be pretty difficult to determine a reaction.

If SSB didn't exist, I likely wouldn't have found a fighter game I felt not-terrible at.  Otherwise?  My life would be exactly like it is now.

supercool22 : If it didn't exist, then probably I will lose interest on the Wii. Super Smash Bros Brawl is my favorite Wii title and brought many remixes from past games, really nice Nostalgia. if smash bros didn't exist it wouldn't have had that much of an impact besides introducing Earthbound as it never came out over here and Fire Emblem and I haven't played either of the two. Besides that my life would have pretty much been the same.

supercool22 : well, I think that it would create a giant hole in the space time continuum, destroying life as we know it, and none of us would have been born, and the world would not exist, so please hope no one goes back in time and makes sure super smash bros was never made.

I never knew about Super Smash Bros until a few years ago, and my impression of it at the time wasn't very high either. So I think it's safe to say that I'd be completely unaffected by the nonexistence of this game. I like the game much more than when I started out playing Smash Bros, but I don't play it very often. I'm not bad at the game or anything, and whenever I go over to my friends house (Who practices the game a lot) the fight's usually pretty even.

If Super Smash Bros. didn't exist, that would had a huge hole in Nintendo's success. and if you know, Super Smash Bros. 64 is the game that hammered the last nail in the coffin with the 1st Video Game War between Nintendo and Sega. And they would be fighting well into the 5th and 6th generation and would of merged into the 2nd Video Game War (between Sony and Microsoft) and caused a "mega video game war".

So, I think Smash Bros. kinda kept it from happening. Also, I haven't really started with Smash Bros. till just last week, so it woudn't have much affect on me.

Well, a lot of my child would have been spent doing something else, I guess .

Green and I spent a LOT of time playing Brawl when we were younger, and I can't really imagine another video game that would have had the same effect on me. In short, it was special, and I don't think anything positive would come out of its non-existence .

Also, it would have been a great loss for me since it's mainly what got me interested in the Wii, and, come on, what in the world could be better than a fighting game where you get to beat the living daylights out of any Nintendo character you want WITH any Nintendo character you want ?

I probably would have dreamed about it existing because it is one of the best ideas that has ever existed, or we would not think about it at all because it would not have existed, causing a paradox if we knew it existed somewhere.

If Smash Bros. had never existed, I never would've found out about Pikmin and Earthbound and other franchises like that, which would be kind of sad. There would also never have been Kid Icarus Uprising, which would be a sad thing.
Otherwise? My life would really wouldn't be much different, other than my continued alienation of fighting games.

Then, a lot of us wouldn't be able to throw controllers over something else, other than Mario Party.

Plus, it's a great game. Without it, Nintendo could be plummeting the sales due to reasons of no Super Smash Bros.

I'm not great at predicting things, but, I'm glad we have it.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
