Do you think I am going to be alright in my return? What are you most looking forward to with my return? Do you think there are any goals I should have for myself besides the obvious.

thing1 : There are doubts, but it's all up to you at this point. Whatever I think about whether you are alright or not would be irrelevant. The main goal should be for you to move past this whole situation and get back to normal. As for specific goals, I don't really do those types of things on Vizzed really. I would say keep a good track record from now on and just become a respectful member in this community, with the goals and characteristics that the site stands for.

play4fun : I do have a goal, actually. I am going to try to become an article writer alongside alexanyways. He does PlayStation consoles... I asked tRIUNE about me doing articles for XBOX, so we will see.

To stay on topic...

Can you believe that David ninja'd the yellow from me? UGH!

I have 3 question for you.

1.
Who is god?

2.
Why does god allow bad things to happen?

3.
Why is god so morbidly violent in the Old Testament?

You were never a local mod, right? You just jumped straight from site staff to global? How did that happen? Do you think that something like that will ever happen again?

Since you lived in China for 12 years, do you speak fluent Chinese? Follow up question. Do you have a Chinese keyboard (or a way to type in Chinese)? And another follow up question. If you speak Chinese and you have a Chinese keyboard (or way to type in Chinese), can you say something to me in Chinese?

Have you been working on lesson plans for the upcoming year?  If so, how many are you getting done in advance?  weeks?  Months?

I'm so happy I don't have to do that while teaching any more.

play4fun : Didn't CC used to be an actual forum? I recall it being in Vizzed Ville North or something.

Has anyone been DQ'd this TDV?

Why did you step down from Chat Manager and become the CP/Viz and Youtube Manager?

Barathemos : 1.

God is a Trinitarian spiritual being who is the Creator of all and the ultimate good. He is a just judge, yet rich in mercy and grace. He is the Beginning and the End, the everlasting King. And you are a believer of Him, belong to Him, He is your Friend, Father, and Lord.

2. Well, for one thing, we live in a corrupt world and we ourselves are tainted in sin. Being cursed with sin itself would let us experience the consequence of sin, whether if it is someone else's sin or your own sin. One thing that people are sometimes afraid to even talk about is that
letting themselves go in their own sinful desires is a punishment is of sin itself.

The mindset that people should have when it comes to good things that happen is that none of us deserve good things to begin with. We don't earn those things. Those are blessings. So it is not suppose to be a surprise that something bad happens in the world that we live in, and that we should always be thankful for all the good that is happening.

Another possibility is that it might be bad things in our temporary point of view. God does everything according to His will and is not surprised by anything that happens. Sometimes something is bad currently might actually lead to something good, but you may not know it. No matter what, we can't go about answer every specific situation that happens, but we know the general idea of what are the possibilities.

3. God takes sin and rebellion very seriously, as it is stated that "the
wages of sin is death" and "he who keeps the whole law yet breaks one
is guilty of all." When you look at the theme of the Old Testament of what God was doing, He is using Israel as a representation of what it means to be His people, like a corporate relation to God. That's what the old covenant is like: "If you obey me, I'll bless you and your nation. If you disobey and sin, I will curse you and your nation." The New Testament places the relationship towards the Church and towards the personal relationship, and the expectations and the consequences are directed towards those more instead of the nation of Israel since there is no difference "between Jew or Gentile" . Even with these two different themes between the Old and the New, much of what God does on both Old and New work the same way and there are huge parallels in both of them in both corporate and personal levels. The only difference is that one is the nation of Israel, the other is the Church of no specific ethnicity.

It is not limited to the Old Testament as to how God have someone's life cut short. An angel was ordered to strike down Herod and was eaten by worms and died (Acts 12:23), Ananias and Sapphira instantly died on the spot for lying to the apostles on money (Acts 4), One should take from both testaments that we all die because of sin, and we don't know when that end would be. It should be gracious by God if someone is kept alive and given more time to repent and come back to Him.

tgags123 : Just a clarification, when I said that I was never a local, I mean
that I was never a local in the main forums of this site. I have been a local
mod for the Christian Conservative rented forum for a while. So it's not that I
had no forum modding experience. I do believe it's possible that something like
that would happen again. I think it's because I have been on this site for a
while now, and the only reason I wasn't involved with staff work is because I
was at school and I can't spend that much time on here. When I was done, I had

some time to be more involved, and along with my track record on here and some
recommendations, that's probably why I was picked. I follow the same rules as
what I see in picking mods and staff though: The ones that will get pick will
let their work do the talking and not talk all about them applying for the
position itself.

I do speak Cantonese first, Mandarin second and can write Chinese, though for
both of them, not as well as I used to. I don't have a Chinese keyboard but
there are programs that are used to type Chinese, whether it's through sounding
out the words or through a specific code.

Cradily is love : Nah, no big story to talk about. The reason behind my username
is that I play games for the purpose of having fun, and not like some hardcore
gamers who treat it to be a large portion of their life. I play for fun.

Singelli : I barely did specific day by day lesson plans, just the general idea.
Once I get the previous years curriculum, then I can focus on day by day. I
already have certain lessons in mind.

TheFadedWarrior : Yes, it was moved later to be a rented forum and actually have
mods here to moderate the forum because of it. David has talked about this
decision before when it got moved. You know people got DQ in the TdV.

I switched positions with Jordan because I want to learn about the other
positions as well as wanting to see a different global handle chat so that I
can learn something from them as well. Being in the position for that long can
cause a person to be less objective in what they do, so I want to see if there
is something I can improve on. It also fits with Jordan's schedule so we made
the move.

Have you seen Fireproof, Courageous, Flywheel, and Facing the Giants?

What did you think of these films?

Are you the most mature member on this site?

How many hours have you spent playing Minecraft last week?

Do you know any foreign languages?

Who is the most inspiration person you have meet in the land of V?

And now for a more serious string of questions:

What is the Passover?

Who is it for?

Why doesn't the church celebrate it today?

What is with the so-called Greek/pagan Origins of Easter?

bombchu link : That's a lot of questions at once. lol

1. Yes to all except for Courageous, which I haven't had a chance to watch.

2. The production group/church has been improving as each film goes on. Their greatest weakness to begin with had been acting and writing, but their latest films have greatly improved on those fronts. But they are quite good, touching, and what I consider as the leading "Christian" film projects currently. I say that without meaning that they are as good as the main film industries or indie companies simply because the purpose for them to make these films are for evangelistic based storytelling and not for gaining critical recognition or acceptance, so their subject area and their subtly are quite limited. I'm hoping for more film companies that can expand to be able to do both while also being not as obvious that they are talking about the Christian message and instead can lead non believers to think about God rather than straight up saying it all. Showing more than telling.

3. That's what I've been voted last year. Currently it looks like I am 1 vote away from tying first place, so hopefully there would be some more votes to let me defend my title. If not, meh, it looks like I'll place anyways.

4. 0 hours. I have been more active there when it first started, but as it got closer to the school year, I lost time.

5. If you say foreign meaning not English, then yes. Chinese (Cantonese first, Mandarin second)

6. I don't know about most inspiring, but there are many different people that I learn from them, and they learn from me.

Serious Questions:
1. Passover is the Jewish Holiday that commemorates the Hebrew Exodus from Egypt.

2, 3. Specifically, Passover is more relevant to the Jewish community, but technically, Christians celebrate some roots to Passover because the Last Supper happened at the time of Passover, and there are linked parallels with the blood of the first born lamb with the blood of Jesus Christ, both for atonement.

4. They are not really so-called. There are certain practices that people can say that they were originally of Greek/pagan origins, but when the Roman Empire declare that Christianity is true, some practices were brought and are changed to celebrate holidays like Easter and Christmas. Some people think that this is assimilating with bad practices, but I have written in a thread called "On celebrating holidays," I argue that using these practices are not bad because they represent a different meaning to us Christians in this day and age and as long as the main focus is on Christ and to everything for the Glory of Christ, it's ok to do things like easter egg hunt, or decorating Christmas trees. Pagans don't own these objects in the world that God created.

play4fun :

Sorry, I just like asking questions.

To follow up more on #4

non serious: Oh, so you do school still? (Collage I assume, unless you spent the best 5 years of your life in the 4th grade )

and the serious #4

From Jeremiah 10:1-25

Hear the word that the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the Lord: “Learn not the way of the nations, nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens because the nations are dismayed at them,
for the customs of the peoples are vanity. A tree from the forest is cut down and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman. They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so that it cannot move. Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field, and they cannot speak; they have to be carried, for they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.”

Isn't that a Christmas tree?

If it says "not to learn the ways of the nation" aka "don't do what they do", Then wouldn't putting a tree in your house and decorating it with ornaments be against the bible?

I'm kinda confused about this.......

I've heard that the Sex goddess of Greek name is Ishtar. (Easter) And that's where the holiday name comes from, and that the Easter bunny is a representation of playboy fertility.

Also Easter eggs were originally died in babies blood for sacrifices,

Also in the 25th of December their was a holiday called child-mass where they took the bodies and sacrificed them to their pot bellied god Chemosh that was said to give them prosperity in the coming year.

During this time they cut down trees and decorated them with silver and golden balls to represent the testicles of their god Chemosh.

was...was that to much?

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?

Do you view Vizzed as a job, or a place to spend time? I know after being a Local Mod for a while, I occasionally began to view Vizzed as a workplace, rather than a place to enjoy.

I'm a physics teacher at a local high school. When I say school year, I mean getting my materials ready for teaching classes.

Serious Question:
Unless you actually worship your Christmas trees, no, that verse is not talking about a Christmas tree. Notice that the same verse that you quoted, they called the trees "idols", which indicates that the customs Jeremiah was warning about are people who worship those trees. There are other citations in scripture and in history of people who use trees and worship them as idols (Habakkuk is the other citation, I believe), but that can be done with anything. As long as you are not worshiping to your tree (or even subtly, think that Christmas is impossible without one) Christmas trees are not condemned. (If you are, you should stop, for it is idolatry to worship a creation from God rather than the Creator)

This goes the same with the topic of Easter. You can no doubt say the practices are of pagan origin, but Christians are not celebrating away using those pagan practices for fertility. They would in fact change the meaning of some of these practices to counter what pagans would use them for.

Even the date of December 25th. A knowledgeable Christian would know that Jesus was definitely not born on December 25th, but the early church fathers spent centuries trying to decide on a date, and in the end decided to be on December 25th to counter the other pagan holidays and to have their own holiday celebrated on their own instead of enduring those other pagan ones.

the point is, people would put their own symbolism or representation on anything. Don't let the pagans take ownership of anything that is not theirs to keep. Words and meaning change over time and sometimes these meanings are not the same as before. Everything that is on this Earth is made by the Lord, and they are good. Don't let a pagan tell you that "oh, we use this for our practices" and then make you think "oh, I'm never going to use this item anymore because pagans use it" If you are not using it for pagan purposes, or are not participating in an occult or idolatry using these practices, there is no issue with using these. I don't have a problem with people not using these things because they have a conscience issue with it. But I have a big problem with people who condemn people for using these objects for celebrating the Christian holiday when they don't actually do anything pagan. They throw the baby out with the bathwater by saying that Christians should not celebrate Christmas at all because of these practices. Put your focus on Christ during these wonderful seasons of remembrance and celebration.  (I would suggest more reliable research on this topic, and not just look at the surface and say that the two are alike and therefore should be rid of. There are more things that happen in between)

*clears throat and tentatively asks *

Can you either add me back to this thread, or close it and create a new one?  XD

I keep getting all these notifications... haha

Although, I am enjoying the Biblical discussion. Especially on the holidays. Jason feels so strongly against them that it's difficult for me, who was raised under all those holiday traditions.  I wish we could have a tree, but I'm far too afraid to tell him so, and that I don't necessarily agree with him.  It's nice to hear another Christian's standpoint.
