Go to each of houses, take all their money, take back everything they borrowed, and then drive off to another city. |

I guess I would grab my baseball bat and whack Zombies on the head with it until I could raid somewhere fully of better weaponry like guns and explosives and try to survive and find somewhere safe to stay whilst not hunting. |

If that was the case I'd be thinking about my own survival. Find shelter so I can gather up supplies such as canned food, water, extra clothes, a can opener, a car with plenty of gas then get the hell out of dodge!!! |

I would hide. I would find a good, safe, place and just try to survive. There is no way that I would be able to kill them all, so hiding is my best option. |

I would say something like "I'd grab an ak-47 and shoot all their heads off!", but to be honest I'd just get in the fetal position and cry like a baby. What? They're my neigbors and family after all. |

So, this thread is definitely different from the other one. On the other one I could build a team, but here I'm facing a harder and much worse scenario.
I think it's much more interesting to think about entire world turning zombies except for me (as far as I know). The only other humans would be scientists in Antarctica, some poor astronauts stuck on the space station, or some islanders that have no clue about the outside world. Like my other post, I'll separate my answer by categories including shelter, weapons, food, and alternate plans if parts of my original plan fail. Food and Water: Part 1 (mixed in with a few others) Food and water would be my main concern at this point, since I could hide in my basement indefinitely. The hardest part about being a one man team is that you can't only be looking at a single task at any given moment. If you're searching for food and find something that works well as a weapon, you take it. If you're not mindful during your work, you'll end up as mindless as the zombies. I would start by eating all refrigerated items that only last a few weeks, storing the rest in the basement of my house. During this period, I would have to sneak out and go to other people's houses to search their pantries for perishables too. One benefit of being the only human is that I don't have to compete for food. I would try to raid and eat perishables until four to five weeks after the world-wide infection. After that point, they would spoil. I would also raid enough canned foods to last a few months. I'd try to find variety that would keep me healthy (like taking packs of dried fruits). That way I would not get sickness from malnutrition. My AP Biology book had a whole chapter dedicated to nutrition. I could look through that to find the right quantities of different foods to take. Since pantries have much more food than I can take with one raid, I can afford to be choosy. I would also bring along a notepad (or loose sheets) and a pen. That way I could take an inventory of all non-perishable foods in that particular house in case I wanted to return. Furthermore, I could map and mark houses that I had already been to and ones that I should not enter since they've been infested. Of course, this step does require some analysis of my... Raiding Techniques: Part 1 For safety, I would barricade all windows and doors to my house on the first floor. On the second floor, I'd barricade all windows except for two. One facing the front of the house would have a little gap so I can see how many zombies are roaming the streets at the particular time. The second one is facing the back side of my house. If I open it, I can climb onto my roof. I can walk to the side edge and with a lot of legwork and a barricaded window about half-way down, I can get down to my deck (and back up, too). Since it requires thinking to get up and down, I know that no zombies will be able to enter and only I will be able to get in. Of course, I'd keep checking the barricades regularly and avoid making sounds within the house that could cause a horde to attack. With me, I would bring a few tools, baseball bat, baggy clothing (for the pockets) and a back pack. I would now be able to escape from my back yard into the line of trees behind my house. They're easy to climb and close enough to get from one to another, but it would be incredibly tiring. That way, if a zombie does find me, I do have an option. I would follow the line of trees to a neighbor's house. If after a few minutes of surveillance, I don't see any motion, I will find the quickest way to a second story window. Entering #1 I would use the hammer to work at the edges of the windows where is sealant is and by weaken the support of the window. The pressure of the walls on the window may help to keep it stronger. Now, I can use force to break the window, whether with a baseball bat or a flung hammer. The noise will likely have caused zombies nearby to wake up and check out where the noise came from. I would have to quickly locate the kitchen, quickly take as much as possible, then leave. At first, I will have to follow this plan to quickly get food. If zombies end up breaking in, I will not be able to use the same house again. I would likely use this method on houses far away to begin with. Entering #2 I would have to search, house by house, for back doors and patio doors left unlocked. The chances of this are greater since many nearby have installed swimming pools, so they leave the door unlocked for easy access. I could even search for large dog entrances. If the entrance is for a medium-large or large dog, I would try to enter. I'm incredibly skinny and could probably fit through. This would take a longer period of time, but would allow me to find safe houses that increase my total supply of food more effectively. Water I would take water bottles from the houses I raid. If they have gallon jugs of juice in the fridge, I would take those too. Any canned soft drinks would be taken too. Unhealthy fluids are still fluids and watering them down might make a few water bottles and a lot of soft drinks keep me alive. There's a very large and clear pond only a few hundred meters from my house. If necessary, I could run over there and take water that I would boil later. Weapons In most houses, I would find guns, bows and arrows, and baseball bats. Anything that could be well used as a weapon (like a sharp metal rod in a garage) will be taken. Of course, I always run the risk of meeting zombies inside houses, so I would likely give a few blows to the head with the baseball bat to start with, but bow and arrows would be quicker and safer to deal with them. Therefore, my strategy will be take all and use all. Shelter I would be staying in my basement. I would live reading books, comics, and doing everything to live to the full extent of my life. I would live there as long as possible. I'm ending this part here. I'll explore having to move in an alternate scenario. Alternate Scenario 1 : The Move Part 1: Keeping Up with the Car Although I did not explain this earlier, I would have to keep my car in good shape. Every few days I would have to turn it on and leave it running in the garage. I might try to find a way to let the carbon monoxide escape, or just take the risk or breathing it. That way, my battery stays active. I could siphon gasoline from a neighbor's car from a safe-house. Better yet, I could only keep up with the car in their house to not alert zombies to my true base with the sound of a car starting. Both ideas have their risks. If I run the car at my house, zombies could be alerted. However, my car starts pretty quietly, so they would have to be really close. I could potentially alert zombies to my location and face a break-in and war. Death would not be imminent, but likely. If I keep the functional car elsewhere, I run the risk of losing contact with it if zombies start walking into the neighborhood. At least with the car at my house I could leave at a moment's notice. Part 2: Moving 1. If zombies started surrounding the house and pressing against the glass and barricades, chances are that I need to be prepared to leave. 2. If my food supply starts to run thin and the remaining safe houses are far away, chances are that I'll need to leave. 3. If my food supply runs thin and zombies to wide-spread in the neighborhood, chances are that I'll need to leave. I would put all remaining food and weapons into the car. I would try to plate the inside of the car with metal rods in my garage and wood planks. I could try to rig a contraption to press the gas and break and turn the wheel from the middle of the car, as far away from the barricaded windows as possible. There would be small gaps on the windows to see outside, but not more. Once ready, I would leave the next dawn (so I can see the zombies while driving). I would wear my toughest apparel and gloves, in case I needed to leave the car in an emergency. Right before I left, I would put all siphoned gas into the back seats security held by seat belts and rope. I would leave without hesitation and quickly back up out of the driveway and through the grass, then shoot forward onto the road. Since I might have had to quickly open the garage door manually, I would have no way to close it and could probably never return back home, so I would have brought a few books and anything else I might need and keep those in the front seats. I would try to raid some out of the way houses that I came across and once I have enough ropes and strong tools, try to raid a supermarket through the roof. I would find a new base and start over. Once I run out of supplies, I would leave again. There are enough houses and supermarkets in America to contain non-perishables to last a life-time. Plus, if I drove all the way up to an uninhabited part of Canada, I could kill bear and live in the mountains. I might even find some sort of human-tribe. Oh, you thought I would end with this happy ending? I did last time, so this one will be a mood killer. Alternate Scenario Two: Alarms I don't know about you, but every house nearby has the strongest security systems available. This means that I could easily trigger an alarm on every house in the neighborhood with one wrong move. Even the dog doors might trigger alarms if I move above dog-level in the house. This puts extreme dampers on my plans. I would have to immediately leave the house and neighborhood if I set a single house ringing, since the entire neighborhood of zombies would hear and come. I would have to leave the neighborhood since I need to find a more available source of food. For the two hours or so that the zombies are preoccupied with the ringing, I would pack everything into my rigged car and leave at once. Then I could go raiding and eventually end up in an uninhabited part of Canada living like a Mountain man. (Yes, a happy ending =P) ------------ Thank you for reading!
