As technology moves on, so does the online community in gaming.  Is online gaming truly the way of the future?  Will offline gaming become a thing of the past?  What do you think?  Explain your answer if you will.

I vote "I prefer offline".. I beleive a truly well designed game should include full AI, after all.. thats the way it pretty much started.

Honestly, I don't know what to choose for one reason. I'm tempted to click on "offline" or "both". Being the only player to play a game is something really cool and sometimes single player games are a good challenge. However, some co-op modes are enjoyable especially if you play with a friend or a member of your family. That's the reason I'm undecisive and, talking about experience of the past, I kept bad and good memories of my online games. Playing online games, it's like the wheel of fortune, you may encounter nice or unpleasant people. That's my opinion but I think I enjoy single player games more than online games so I think I will vote "offline" but "online" is not a bad thing though sometimes

And sorry, I'm rambling XP

If I really think about it, I think that at least half of my gaming is done "Online" playing against others. I play a bunch of games on vizzed though but I'm not counting that.

A lot of the games I play on Xbox are online. I guess I would rather play most of those games against other people. Like Modern Warfare 3 or a sports game.

Some of the best games of today require a mixture of both. Offline has the story mode --if there is one-- and also will allow players to build their skills. Online play is practically necessary these days since it can be hard to find friends who share the same interests in video games, so online communities form all over the web to quickly find other people. Let's face it. How many of us enjoy setting new records if there is no one to challenge us? If my competition is not going to be friends or family whom I see often, it is going to be someone else --without compromising my privacy of course.

I really don't see the problem with online gaming. I mean a lot of people do it to kill time as well as offline gaming. Me, well I play games online a little bit more than I do offline.

I went with a mixture of the two. I love playing online, but I have an Xbox so that would require paying for gold membership. That's something I just don't feel like doing, really.

Honestly, I don't think I've turned my Xbox on in over a month now, but if I did I'd be playing offline. Some single player, or some split screen. A good local co-op will almost always get me to buy a game.

thenumberone :
100% agree with you on your Call of Duty comment, I think theres nothing worse today in the gaming industry then scrapping a decent long single player campagn for online gaming.  I know its where the money is at for the developer but its still a shame.

I have never in my life played a game online, probably because I don't own a 3rd generation gaming console.

Ah well, I don't care

Alright... I say I like a mixture of both. I like online game play because it lets you take the skills you learned in Story Mode, so to say, and apply it to online gaming to see how good you really are. But, if a game has no story line game play, like Modern Warfare 3 for example, then it is not worth the money to buy it new. Don't get me wrong; I like Modern Warfare 3, I just think the story line could have been a little longer. Anyway, I like a mixture of both. But, if a game has no Single Player, then that ultimately means that the online play is not going to be all that great.

I actually like a good amount of games of both. I like the minecraft offline version amongst a few other games. But online, there are the games offline, but you are able to play with friends and others, which I find really cool. I also like games such as Runescape which are online, but still can be fun to play.

I actually really dislike online gaming, and for several reasons.

1. The internet (and online gaming) is full of ass-holes.
2. They are always a million times worse, or a million times better than me, there's no level ground.
3. People cheat. Speed hacking is one of those things that pisses me off most.
4. Half the time, the servers suck, and lag out.

I have more... but I think you get the idea.

I like a mixture of both. Sure I mostly play my games offline, but I do
enjoy going online to play with my friends.

legacyme3 : I actually really dislike online gaming, and for several reasons.

The internet (and online gaming) is full of ass-holes.

They are always a million times worse, or a million times better than me, there's no level ground.

People cheat. Speed hacking is one of those things that pisses me off most.

Half the time, the servers suck, and lag out.

1. I agree with you to a certain extent. There are plenty of them online but, it's not all that bad.

2. That's how I felt when I was playing Castlevania Harmony of Despair. I always get left behind and when I get there, everyone already killed the boss
.

3. I haven't encountered any cheaters...yet, but I'm sure they're out there. I do hate spammers though.

4. I hate lags and disconnects! Tekken 6 has one of the worst servers online. The game will disconnect you in mid-match. I got my first rude message because some jerk thought that I raged quit on him before he won the match.

I have never liked online gaming. People take it to seriously plus I am not into call of duty at all or any other fps or games like wow. I would rather play final fantasy or some other offline jrpg, then online games. I guess it must be because I suck at the games though. If I was better I think I would like them more.

For certain games like FPS and Sports games, I prefer to play online because you always have a lot of people to start up a game with. Don't get me wrong, I almost never chat with people online (Unless they are all friends of mine and we are in a party) I'm really not into hearing some kid yelling expletives during a game, or some other people complaining that someone is cheating. That stuff gets' old fast.

Online gaming is more enjoyable for a couple of reasons. First its easy to play original games, secondly, I like the thought of playing games for competition as well. Lastly, I can record it on youtube.

For the most part I like offline gaming more. Online gaming is fun and all, but sometimes it just gets annoying; the people take it too seriously at times and most people on there are 11year-old's with anger issues and high pitched voices that make my ears ring from their screaming and crying over the microphone... At least that's the way it is for the majority of Xbox Live games. PSN can be a little better about that, because they seem to have a much more mature audience for the most part.

Any type of internet lag in a game infuriates me; I cannot stand it. So that's another reason I don't like online gaming.

When all the conditions are right, only then do I find online gaming fun.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
