I, for one, consider Pac-Man (the Atari version, of course) miserably worse than E.T. The colors are dull. The controls are unresponsive. And the immediate death by barely contacting the ghosts make it all too frustrating. However, I'll excuse it for being released in the 1980's. However, I will not excuse it for wrecking one of the funnest franchises of all time.

Until I saw this was the Atari Pac-Man, I was about to rip your head off.

Thankfully I don't need to. Atari's Pac-Man was awful.

Atari did have some of the most lackluster games ever
but i guess some people still like that now

Yeah the atari Pac-Man wasn't one of the best pac-man's ever! But the arcade Pac-Man is AWESOME!!!

Pac-Man for the arcade is legendary. If you've played Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, it's still pretty legendary too.

Arcade Pac-man, spent way too many hours playing that... far more than i wish to reveal lol.

For both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, I have to say in defense of the Atari 2600 that the system itself is rather shoddy by today's standards, and in the time that it came out, it was the system to have in the home until Nintendo blew them out of the water in the middle-1980s. It pales in comparison for a lot of the games even THEY put into the arcades (Asteroids and Tempest to name a couple of them). But the games were entertaining in the time they came up; they aren't that entertaining anymore unless the person playing has a massive nostalgia bug.

The initial run of Pac Man on the 2600 had many glitches in it, one of which was the fact that the Pac Man itself only faced left or right, and the movement was pretty choppy at best, until it was vindicated with the Atari 5200 (this system was sold to correct a lot of the 2600 games, but was a short-lived run, only to be screwed up when the NES came out).

Nintendo had the market cornered at that point until the Sony PlayStation was released; this system was blowing everyone out of the water for a long time afterward, too.

Unfortunately the home game systems were the ultimate demise of the video arcades. You don't see very many of them anymore.

i disagree with u...E.T. has alot of glitches and nearly impossible to get out of the whole and u dont even know where the f!@# to go-pacman how ever is alot more playable u can still see where the ghost are going and the only flaw on it is the ghost blink thats it E.T. is just a worthless piece of crap pacman not as good as the arcade version but still fun to play

Yeah I understand. Pac-Man has been a hard game to play and it is boring. I wouldn't this that it is better than E.T. because I am not a fan of E.T.

yeah after trying this game i see what you mean i thought all pac men were good, i actually really hated this atari one i thought they were all pretty much like the arcade one which i loved lol

I don't  know if I should agree that PACMAN 2600 is worst than E.T,but all I know is that these games lead to Atari's sad crash.So the games are terrible.Arcade Pacman FTW.P.S Pacman owns Master chief!

I haven't posted in forever, sorry about that, lol. But yeah, I do have a lot of nostalgia when I play an Atari game, since my parents made me play it when I was a kid, haha. In fact, I didn't like video games until I was in the fifth grade, which was when the PS2 came out, so I never got to get into the NES/SNES days of gaming. :/ But anyway, PAC-MAN and E.T. both suck, let's just say that. However, the arcade version of PAC-MAN is one of the greatest.

God Pacman on the Atari 2600 was horrible,the arcade version and Pacman on the NES were way better then this one

I love Pac Man, but the Atari version is awful.

Very frustrating to work with compared to the Arcade and other console versions.

I agree that the Atari 2600 version of Pac Man is awful. However the programmer had a very small amount of time to finish the game so if the programmer was given more time it would've been a better game.

Stupid Atari, trying to rush things just so they can make the holiday.
