I think that a what makes a remake good or bad is how they go about making the movie, like Halloween the originals always awesome (cheesy but awesome nonetheless) and the Rob Zombie remake fantastic changed and added a few things, however Friday the 13th the old ones are great but the newer one sucked so hard.

Remakes are good and bad in a way. There good if they execute the story perfectly well. Remakes could also be bad because they don't give the same feeling like the original movies.

Some movies reamakes can come out good or bad depending on who made them and how it's done.  When a movie is set in an old age or came out a while ago and a future restick remake is made 12 years later that movie might come out bad. Total Recall would be an example.

It really depends on how they remake the film. 2007's Death at a Funeral was remade in 2010 but it replaced the all white cast from the first movie with an all Coloured cast (minus Peter Dinklage) which I though was kinda stupid. The movie itself was boring but the remake was funny as hell! So I am open to remakes.

Mostly, no, but there are of course exceptions. Superhero movies in general can probably be given a pass given the source material. Horror movies on the other hand are almost always a disgrace to the original, with exceptions of course (Dawn of the Dead and The Fly for example). For the most part, remakes are unnecessary (except Superhero reboots of course) and I'd lean more toward them being bad then good. True Grit is a great remake, but was it really necessary and was it good for the health of Hollywood? In my opinion not really.

The remake to Spider-Man (or relaunch whatever it's called; I just call it a remake) was better then the original one (thou I still dislike that Mary Jane isn't the main girl in the movie.)

I'm watching the new version of Steel Magnolias. Not nearly as good as the original. The new actors didn't put as much effort into the acting as the other actors did. Some parts are a little different but this new version, it's more like a bland version of the original. And the actors in the original movie did a much more dramatic performance.

I think some remakes are good while others are severely lacking.

Remakes of movies I just cannot stand, the only remade movie I have actually enjoyed was Fright Night and that's just because I haven't seen the original.

Remakes are just pure awful, the producers thinking it would put money in their pockets must be having a laugh. Yes, they will GAIN the money, but what will the viewers who cherished the original movie just to sit through a horrible remake of said beloved movie will leave them furious, I wouldn't want to go and sit through a rebooted Back to the Future where Marty McFly is a man in his late 50's and has to go back and time and slap the writers of the movie in the face for even conceiving the idea of a remake... or whatever.

In short, yes, I despise remakes with my heart.

I don't think I've hard any remakes of movies that I liked as well as the original movie. I've seen some that were alright and I didn't hate, but...

A few examples of the ones that really teed me off:

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Thank you for turning one of my childhood memories into a creepy, anti-social pedophile who scares children worse than Ronald McDonald.

The Planet of the Apes. Excuse me, but blowing things up does not make a movie better.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head that I liked better was the Day of the Dead remake. And it was done by the same guy.

Remakes of movies are never really any good. You do get to watch basically the same movie again, but with updated technology, newer actors (might be good or bad), but they still don't have the same feeling as the originals.

It depends on whos casting the movie and whos directing
Alot of Remakes end up horrid and some are good when people are hating on them just because they "think" the original was better.

It depends how well they are made.  There are some like "The Karate Kid" with Will Smith's son that go that one level beyond but remakes are entirely pointless.

They usually have all the tools to make the remakes better. More money, better special effects, but even then they end up screwing it up lol. The originals are usually always better. Maybe it's nostalgia. Know i do like some remakes better although it is rare.

I think there are a few good ones, and a few bad ones. It really depends on the actors, and who is directing, and a whole bunch of different factors.
