JackalHyde's Last Game Comments | Tekken Tag Tournament (US, TEG3-VER.C1) | It starts hanging when a match is about to begin, I can't blame it on my computer either, cause this is a couple thousand dollar computer that plays most games on Ultra setting. | Pokemon Go | Team Instinct, ready to take over your gyms! | Super Punch-Out!! | You gotta hit him in the face to beat bear hugger, then dodge his double fisted head pound. | Mario Kart Advance | Some of us are bilingual, some of us prefer to play the international version, my friend. | Virtual Boy Wario Land | No, Non-User, Virtual Boy games are all red and black, it's why this system failed so quickly in the first place. |

Mad Max 10-13-15 06:18 AM |
Mad Max - The Literal Sandbox TLDR: This game isn't worth the full price, wait for a sale! Or find it in a red box! Graphics - Mad Max is at it's foremost a beautiful looking game, from shrapnel left behind from cars utterly obliterated, explosions from the high octane action, or the colourful palette that is sometimes introduced through the crazy gallery of characters that make up Max's unique universe, blood spatters when you blow a guy away with the shotgun and even the dynamic lighting really gives compliments to certain portions of the game. Often times the most terrifying thing and most beautiful thing about the game is the sand storms that approach at random and can hit you at any time, sometimes without warning and it can truly be a sight to behold, I remember in my play through I had been sitting there eating my dinner with the controller next to me idling with anticipation, the next thing I knew I looked up and saw this massive cloud of dust overtake the rocky mountain beside me and come hurdling down like a ball of doom that I was about to be heading full speed into, the awesome thing about these storms is that the moment you enter one it almost completely blots out the sun and gives this terrifying feeling that 'this could potentially kill me', with random dust twisters flying about in the storm, lightning striking almost constantly, debris flying every which direction and all most no safe haven in the wasteland, sand storms can make the weaker of players turn back to bases in fear just so they can skip the night and get back to the wasteland at hand. With that having been said though, I feel as though all this meticulous work was all for not, as the entire world that he is surrounded by is nothing but sand and rusted metal, it's not hard to have amazing art work in the game and have a great looking game when the entire world is made up of sand and spare junk parts that could be pieced together in a million combination of ways to make... Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition 03-10-14 04:04 PM |
Injustice: Ultimate Edition Graphics - I'll be covering the ps3 portion of this and treating this as if those of you who are reading have never played this game, over the average version this game should only be picked up if you've never played the original, as it stands to be more of a game of the year type of deal, the detail models on the characters are what one would except from a studio like NetherRealm (creators of Mortal Kombat), this game is a love letter to all the long time DC comic fans, the costumes respect source material to the general outline of each carefully crafted costume for hero/villain alike but with that special touch of NetherRealm's flair giving them sort of a gritty adult filter to fit the world around them, this attention to the costumes can even be seen amid/post battle where the scratches, bruises and other combat related injuries can be seen on your war-torn costumes. The love and attention to detail didn't just stop at the characters however, it sprouted to the environment and interactables that we'll cover later on in the review, the battle rages on spanning from Arkham Asylum, to Metropolis and beyond, each stage being littered with Easter Eggs that would leave many a comic book lovers giddy with delight, most larger stages present what is known as a 'transition', in these transitions the player is able to use a strong knock-back attack that can blow their opponents through walls and other crazy devices that take you from one background scenario to another, Metropolis I believe being the prime example as the entire stage is actually broken up into three parts of the city, these actually flow surprisingly well without any frames dropping on you. Sound - We'll go ahead and start this off with the games soundtrack, it's credited for two as there are various artist that play actual songs that were either made or based around the game, the other is an orchestrated set list that matches the gritty and desperate tone of the ga... Batman: Arkham Origins 03-10-14 09:31 AM |
I am vengeance. I am the night. I am BATMAN! Graphics- This is it, we're coming to the end of a life cycle for last gen consoles and making way for the next generation of systems, most companies know the in's and out's of the PS3 that allow them to make games seem as beautiful as could be for as old as the technology is, developer and mapper short-cuts allow for some truly outstanding looking console games. But with that having been said, there are some clipping issues that you'll notice from time to time, as well as graphical glitches that weren't ironed out before the games final release, some of you will come across this where textures loaded oddly, or sometimes not at all, sometimes the world would actually split apart on one part of the map causing me to fall repeatedly into the water below the city surface, or just continually fall till my character eventually bat-grappled back to safety. This is most certainly jarring and unpolished in that respect, but this might not happen to everyone and for that I can only deduct a few points from it due to personal experience, this studio has a lot to learn before it becomes a Rocksteady! Sound- The sound is pretty crisp and the voice acting after about thirty minutes into the game tends to grow on you given that barely any of the original voicing cast remained. However the sound of the wind as it blows, the flow of your cape, the crackle of broken bones, crushing gloves, dismantling weapons, beating baddies, and using gadgets all have their original charm from the previous Rocksteady games, with that having been said another case of unfortunate glitches can sometimes leave a crackle in the audio that would mar this category from being a perfect score. Game Play- The game play is more of the same and that isn't necessarily a bad thing as some professionals might try to argue, this is consistency of a free-flow combat system that was proven to work, gadgets and fists/feet fly and mix perfectly with a respon... Alan Wake 03-10-14 08:57 AM |
Are you afraid of the dark? Graphics - This games main focus is making everything look crisp and visuals are about 45% of the game, the clear graphics enhance the feeling of your Shadow-Like adversaries and everything just really plays out to be pretty gritty. The light effects and shadow texturing of the game is one of the best that I've seen for quite a long time, but seeing as this games whole concept is based around Shadows, It's pretty understandable as to why so much detailing was put into them. However the bad side to all of this positive, the voice syncing issue has struck me again, I absolutely hate it when games can't get their voices to match the mouth movement. It makes a stunning story feel like a cheesy Godzilla movie (although nothing wrong with a bit of Gojira), perhaps it has been patched and fixed for others, but for me it wasn't updated and it was pretty off the mark by at least 1-2 seconds. Another issue is the fog is kind of out of focus and messes with you, you could even say that it makes things even scarier and therefore enhancing the experience instead of breaking it, but it surely shouldn't be so shortly animated! Sound - Where the Graphics show flaws, the sound perfectly makes up for it and I was stunned by the level of detail in the weapon sounds, the guns acted perfectly and the light fixtures which you use against the Dark were perfected with real instruments instead of a library of sounds. The Characters voice acting for the most part is superb and really draws you into this sort of Tv Show kind of experience, you really feel as though you're Alan Wake at times even if just by watching the adventure unfold it really makes for an experience you shouldn't miss, when you're exploring the dark and you hear whispers and voices, It'll make you turn around and look to make sure nobody is actually creeping up on you! And it goes without shame to say that you will jump and be on edge for more than half of the ... Read the rest of this Review |
