Super Space Invaders 08-12-11 06:56 AM |
Game Gear - Super Space Invaders Woot, this will be my first review in the Sega Game Gear console. That also means I haven't played any games from that console, so this review COULD be a bit off, but I assure you, it won't be too far off to not be counted. Anyway, let's get on with the main article of the review! Graphics - 6 I rated it an semi-high average, since from what I saw, it had decent graphics compared to other Sega Game Gear games. It was visually appealing, but it could've been improved in some sections, such as the background, etc. I've also noticed a glitch in this game, where the invaders would enlarge in size and back to normal without even doing anything, but it can be bypassed and ignored. Sound - BLANK As usual, this rating spot for sound is blank, since I'm a fully deaf person, and I cannot rate sound fairly for everyone, for obvious reasons stated here. However, there are other options. If you really wanted a rating for sound, you could just ask a friend who have already played the game. There are also reviewing sources for this game, such as IGN and several other sites. Addictiveness - 4 I gave it a low rating of 4 because it simply wasn't addicting. Shoot, shoot, shoot. That's all you'd have to do to beat this game, but I do give it points for being a hard game, but that's a different story. I would think you'd be addicted for a brief moment, and become disinterested in it when you get a GAME OVER on the game. Story - 4 Again, a 4 for this. I would've rated it lower, but since it is an arcade-based game, it's actually semi-decent for the storyline section for all the classic arcade games. You'd imagine yourself as a fighter to kill all the invaders, which is basically a short story, but you don't often see those kind of storylines nowadays. Depth - 8 I gave it a high score of 8 because this game has a lot to do to beat it, as it is separated by chapters, or in ... Read the rest of this Review |
Super Cars 08-11-11 07:26 AM |
NES - Super Cars All right! This'll be different from my spree of MSX reviews... This will be a NES review on a racing game called Super Cars. First of all, this'll be just a quick review from Snowdeath, and I hope you'll enjoy this! Graphics - 7 I would've rated graphics low because out of all the NES games I played, it wasn't that good. It looked like no effort was put in the game for graphics, at all. However, coincidentally, the so-so graphics actually matched the theme of the racing game, as it just flowed into the game perfectly, and it gave off an arcade feeling while playing this game. If you want to understand what I'm talking about, you do have to play the game to get a first-hand experience. Sound - BLANK Sorry, the sound is completely blank, because I'm fully deaf permaently, so I can't rate the sound for everyone. However, if you do want this to be rated, simply ask someone else to tell you their rating, or just play this game yourself. There are also reviewing sources, such as IGN and other sites. Addictiveness - 9 This game is so dang addicting, because it pulls you in in a friendly way, as it invites you to race for 1st place. Simply stated, it is addicting, period. This will keep a racing fan going on for several hours, and that's pretty dang good for a NES racing car with low graphics. Story - 1 The story rating is extremely low, since it has no story at all, except a very basic sense of story in a racing game. Race, crash, try again, race, get 1st place. That's all there is, and I pretty much have no other comments about the story. Depth - 4 The depth rating is moderate, because it offers you a lot of fun, but the game is small, and basically has nothing to do except just to get 1st place. There's nothing much to do to beat the game, and all that. It's a cool, fun game, but it offers that only. Difficulty - 8 I rated it that hi... Read the rest of this Review |
Boulder Dash 08-11-11 03:44 AM |
MSX - Boulder Dash Once again, this is a review about the game called Boulder Dash, and its supporting system, MSX. Boulder Dash was created in 1985! Woah, that is a long time ago! Anyway, as usual, I'll be rating this based on the console itself, not in overall of all consoles, so bear with me. Also, this will be a small review due to the size of the game. Graphics - 8 I think the graphics on Boulder Dash is actually decent for a MSX game, because it's appealing to my eyes, and all the color palettes matches the theme, just in the exception for the 'diamonds' in the game where you have to grab them before the rocks tumbles down to crush the poor mouse. It's actually good enough to keep me interested in the game, and if you ask me, the graphics are better than most of the MSX games here. Sound - BLANK Once again, as usual, I cannot rate the sound because I am a fully deaf person in real life, and if I were to rate the sound, it would be either completely wrong, or bad. I'm sorry about this. Although, if you do want to hear the rating of sound, you can ask someone else who've played this game, or test it out yourself. There's also reviewing sources, such as IGN, and more of the websites. Addictiveness - 9 I give the game, Boulder Dash, a high rating of 9 in this category because this game is so addicting, you can literally go on hours trying to progress to a new level, and figuring out what to do when a boulder threatens your existence as a mouse, and all that. It's a good game to keep going for hours, and a good game to experience first-handed too. Story - 6 This game has no official story, but you could easily think up of a story about this game after playing it at least once. For example, you could think the diamonds are magical stones that the mouse needs for something, or the mouse is trying to find the diamonds to support his family, and all that. It's a good tool for everyone's imaginat... Read the rest of this Review |
Le Mans 2 08-05-11 09:29 PM |
MSX - Le Mans 2 Once again, here's a brief review by yours truly, Snowdeath! This game is a MSX console game, called Le Mans 2, which is a racing game. First of all, before you start reading, let me tell you this. It is not worth playing this game because it screws your eyes when it starts to turn right or left, and the races takes too long. If you're interested in my review, then by all ways, go ahead. Graphics are very high, because, given this game to be bad, the graphics are extremely decent for any MSX games, and it gives you a virtual 3D racing style. It isn't 10 because of the confusing turns on the screen, you'll never be sure if you were actually turning, or the car itself is spinning out of control, or neither, as it was a car behind you, or something like that. It sucks, but the overall graphics are very good for the MSX. Sound is blank as always, since I am a deaf person, so I cannot rate the sound part. However, if you honestly want to hear about the sound rating, you can always check it out for yourself, or ask someone else. There are many reviewing sources, such as IGN and others, you can check them for sound ratings. Addictiveness is a very low 2. Why? I wasn't feeling the hooking urge to play this game. In fact, I don't feel like playing it again, because it's so confusing in the game, even though it does look like a very fun game to play. I suggest you to maybe only play it once to get a taste of the game, and if you like it, then go ahead and play it! Story is a poor score of one because it is literally just all about racing, and it doesn't even have a dialogue or any form of words except you see on the screen inside the car. There is a storyline, just a extremely poor one, as it is basically 'race and win!' type of story. The depth is also very low, but slightly higher than the story rating, which is 2. Why? It has nothing to offer you, except potential waste of time, unless you love this game and you kn... Read the rest of this Review |
Tetris (nintendo) 08-05-11 03:39 PM |
NES - Tetris All right, this will be a large review, so I will be adding in interesting facts and how this game started, since Tetris is a largely popular game that has quite the history for a game. Also, this is the Tetris from the NES, so don't confuse it with other Tetris. I'll write up my regular reviewing parts, such as overall, graphics, sound, addictiveness, story, depth, difficulty, and all that, then a piece of history and interesting facts of the widely-known game. I hope you'll enjoy reading this review written by yours truly, Snowdeath! On this version, the graphics were moderate for a NES game, not overly good but not too bad. It has a nice charm to it with the Tetris challenges, though, so I did enjoy playing Tetris with the graphics. However, to understand what I whole-heartedly mean, you'd have to play it to get a first-hand experience to understand my ideal of this. Graphics are a smooth 6. Alas, this section of sound is once again, blank, since I am fully deaf and there is no way I could rate the music / sound effects in the game. However, if you want to hear the rating of this section, you can simply check the game out yourself, or ask someone else about it. There are reviewing sources available out in the Internet, such as IGN and other sources. Addictivness? I think this goes by not saying, but it is a whooping rating number of ten! You know why? Tetris is extremely addicting, as your brain simulations adheres to the challenge of the game, and you can literally feel yourself being pulled in, wanting to do more on the game, and simply beating everyone's scores, for the pure sheer reason of fun. It's extremely fun, even if you're not a puzzle lover, or anything like that. I would personally suggest this game to anyone, from any ages because it's practically a rite of passage for you to play this famous game. Story has no rating since it has no story at all. There is no objective except to pass the leve... Read the rest of this Review |
