time for your tetris shotIts a me a Tetris, you know Tetris that one game that for some odd reason has not been ported to every game system but also every mobile device known to man heck its even built into some calculators (if I ever make a game and its not put into a calculator then what's the point of trying.) Its Tetris, Tetris, Tetris, Tetris no matter how much more I say all I can say is Tetris and you all know what pops up first in your mind that might be a good thing that might be a bad thing either way its time to do a review of one of the most simplistic games next to breathing.
So what is the first thing you think about when you think about Tetris well the amazing Graphics right? (no just me?) Well it does have some form of graphics and its called blocks lots and lots of blocks and that is really all that Tetris has to offer in terms of eye goggling (that's a term word) and its sadly not the only thing that brings the 'beauty' of this game down its the fact that it was released on the Gameboy not the Gameboy color or the Gameboy advance its the original bulky black and white Gameboy so as said before the only two colors the system has to offer is black and white. Now I'm not hating on the Gameboy but I think it kind of stunts this games ability in terms of diversity when it comes to visuals and I know there is multiple versions of this game but I'm looking at this one at the moment and after a while black and white just well looks boring. Even though Tetris is all about blocks and blocks and more blocks it does what it can with them and makes them look like blocks so it gets a 3 out of 10.
So how's that charming Gameboy Sound eh? Well its a charming Gameboy sound (eh) the theme that plays when you are playing Tetris is a classic theme and for good reason I mean after a while of hearing it you just (sigh) looooove it why because they done did it right how did they done did it right Not sure but they did do, done did it right (understood that? good)and of course its not just the music that sounds good the sound effects are something to hear too be it the sound of turning the blocks (yes blocks make sounds as they turn in mid air don't ja know) to the sound of getting multiple rows in a row this sound track and sound effect is just so classic that you have to love it (lies) and its so simple that its hard to find something bad about it, except for the fact that the main theme can get really annoying after a while. After hearing the same theme for 20 minutes I think ill give the Sound a 9 out of 10.
Just how Addictive can a game be where a unknown being rains blocks down onto you and you mist spin them till you get them the way you want them then set them down and watch a group of them go bye bye? Well pretty addictive if I do say so myself (which I can cuz the da reviewer) for someone who had not ever played Tetris (there are people out there called infants and grandparents) Tetris sounds and kind of looks boring and well I'm not going to lie it can be at times but when you get the blocks down like a master and the speed, speeds up that game is the only thing that matters right then and it feels good, that is until that one t block knows you out of your Zen then you realize your boss is yelling at you for not working and etc. And that is really all there is to say Tetris is not one of those if it looks boring it is, its the simplicity that once again gives it its charm and fun factor so saying all of that ill give the Addictive factor a 9 out of 10.
Next up is the Story HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!! what story (im sure fanfic.com has some backstory but I'm noting going to even go there) so here's my story you are a special space galaxy defender and those blocks are aliens and they want to teach us geometry OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now its time to see how far down these blocks will go (to the bottom of the screen to be exact) so the Depth of a game involving blocks falling cant be the least deeper thing if it tried (but I'm sure that sentence could have tried harder) so sadly this game ONCE AGAIN is simple but this time it works against it you put blocks down and that's it sure there is some strategy but I think the blocks are random in this version (I think some ports make the blocks fixed don't quote me on that) so it might be all about luck and how much of it you have that day. So even though this game is simple this is proof that too simple can be to bad because this Depth is getting a shallow score of 2 out of 10.
Now this part is going to be a roughly out of 10 thing why because the Difficulty of Tetris gets this goes up as you play (ya I know mind blown right) but what I mean is that one minute you could be safely putting blocks down then you sneeze and suddenly its like trying to land a meteor and its all about how quick you are with your thumbs and brain so the difficulty is different for everyone who plays this game. SO even though I did put a 10 out 10 way up yonder its really a ~10 out of 10 it might be lower for you or (somehow) higher for others.
Did you know that you move blocks in Tetris and did you also know it was made in Russia that's why you can see Russia in the background of the title screen (and you thought that it was just a completely random thind didn't you? Don't lie to me I know you did) so even if you have played Tetris I implore you to pick it up sometime and sit down and enjoy a game that someone made because they wanted to do something when they are bored at there job (look it up Tetris has a oddly interesting story behind it, it involves aliens and space defenders and Russia of course) but all in all ill give Tetris a final score of 8.5 out of 10.
